Were all those twitter pics revealed over time (i.e like once every 2 weeks or month)... or was it over a few days/hours? If it's the former it's probably an intentional leak.

The tweets were removed though, doesn't seem intentional.

Surprised something like this hasn't been made before on a large scale by Sony or MS. The last game that I recall trying this concept was Onimusha Blade Warrior.

ok might as well toss my hat into the character list ring.

Sony 1th party Heros

Nathan Drake
Kratos
Ratchet and Clank
Jak and Daxter
Sackboy
Good Cole
Ico/Wander
Sweet tooth

Sony 1th party Villains

Helghast soldier
Zeus
Dr Nefarious
Evil Cole
chimera soldier
A Colossus.

3rd party heros

Ezio
Solid snake/Big Boss
Crash/Spyro
Random Final Fantasy Hero. Cloud/Lightning/someone from XIII-2... who knows.
Faith or Dead Space guy.

3rd party villains

sephiroth (duh)
That Dude from Tekken..... old guy... mustache and crazy hair.. don't know the name.
A metal gear boss? Liquid Snake? Ocelot? Physio mantis?

you know there are not that many notable 3rd party bad guys... I am sure there are loads I just dont remember right now.

Probably wont see a lot of 3rd party stuff in the first game due to having to deal with so many different publishers for one game but they totally have places they can go in a sequel.

I was waiting for someone to say this...lol but no

Why? I think the MS ip stable is pretty good, they just don't use it for shit. To my understanding MS would be able to include characters from these ip with no licensing fees.

Conker
Banjo
Saberman
Avatars
Jet force gemini
Killer instinct
Kameo
Perfect dark
Grabbed by the ghoulies
Viva pinata
Halo
Gears of war
Crackdown
Fable
Forza
Shadowrun
Blue dragon
Lost odyssey
Gun Stringer
Mech warrior
Splosion man

Not saying they should include anything from all of these ip, this is just based on what's on my dvd rack mostly. Sony may have some pretty badass ip, but i'd rather see banjo and conker than nathan drake and cole in a vs game, maybe i'm just weird. Though i'd have more faith in sony to create an actual good game, I just don't think their owned roster is very good in this context.

Contempt For Challenge
Not really excited about the roster of a Sony character fighting game, most of the possible choices are tough guy action heroes. Half the charm of Smash is the cute/wacky characters beating up on eachother. Still, if the gameplay is comparable I won't complain.

just put this stuff in streetfighter x tekken and call it a day.

I sincerely hope you're shitting me. Sure, make a Rare brawler, throw in Gears and Halo dudes... but the rest? Good lord.

Even though this will never ever ever ever happen, I'd pay big money to see Master Chief fight Kratos, Sackboy fighting Conker, or Marcus Fenix fighting some random Helghan Soldier.

Oh man, little sister and big daddy combo with a dynamic Rapture stage, splicers jumping around, glass breaking changing the stage, whales passing by in the background. hellz yeh.

Don't get my hopes up, I'd main any Bioshock character immediately.

You've got Parappa and Fat Princess. And likely Ratchet and Clank and Jak and Daxter. Sly too, there's plenty that aren't just tough guys.

Good lord what, do you think a smash bros. clone is meant to be serious? I'd rather it be silly/stupid then having a cast filled with nothing but human dudes that all look realistic?

Seriously, imagine a stage with forza cars running over master chief, cortana, conker and banjo, you can do some silly stuff with some of sonys ip, but to my understanding most of the IP sony owns are very.. realistic in comparison visually.

No, but those fucking characters in those games you listed... aren't characters. You want a character game with... the guy from Fable? Or better yet, from franchises last seen on a console two generations back? Not saying Sony has the strongest set, but it's night and day. If you're a Rare fanboy (man, I remember when all you did was question Rare) then sure.

And if that's your understanding of Sony IPs, then you don't have much of an understand of Sony IPs.

They own Battletoads and, I think Sabre Wulf, via Rare, so there's those too. That said, besides Master Chief, Banjo-Kazooie, Conker and Joanna Dark I can't really think of any particularly memorable first-party characters owned by Microsoft. There's the Gears guys obviously, but those are owned by Epic. Come to think of it, doesn't MS own the Blinx character too?

Edit: They own Jetpac too via Rare.

I'm missing something or only in the page 4 (default seting) people start mentioning Team Ico characters in their wishlists ?

Also, i hope that sony forgets the "xbox tatoo" advertising (anyone have it ? google image didn't help) and make Crash Bandicoot one of the main characters !!!!

Also ...

No itens
Sly only
Final Destination

Maybe I'm alone in this, but I don't care who the publisher is, if they have even half a decent stable of recognizable characters, I wanna see them in some crazy crossover/brawler/fighter. Just because they aren't Nintendo (heaven forbid) if they have a good idea or hopefully a decent system in place to start with, I'm all for these developers to give it a shot, be it full retail or downloadable.

Not necessarily. The current Insomniac games are owned by Sony. So you can still have Ratchet and Clank, and the various characters from it. There's also the anthromophic characters from Sly Cooper. The super deformed/cutesy characters from Hot Shots Golf/Everybody's Golf 5. There's the Maiden in Black from Demon's Souls who has her eyes covered in wax.

I'd agree from a popularity standpoint as Master Chief is bigger than all of the Sony mascot's combined though.

eeew none of the ps3 franchise characters belong here. Nathan Drake, Cole and whoever from Killzones lolno.

I'd be down for the rest of them though. But eh this just doesn't seem right to me.

Not really feeling this one. Smash Bros works because of Nintendo's huge library of beloved characters.

Sony has Nathan Drake and Kratos as it's most recognizable characters. I just don't see it working out.

The idea that the game won't stand up on its characters excites me. They won't be able to just use nostalgia as a crutch, they'll have to deliver a good game.

Still hoping it's nothing like Smash outside of being a company crossover game, however.

This will be very, very interesting.
However, one problem is that Sony's characters lack the kind of mainstream appeal that made Super Smash Bros. such a sensation, meaning that Sony Smash Bros. might remain a more niche franchise.

I'll let Sony worry about the sales figures, thank you.

Well, Super Smash Bros. sells more than any of Sony's franchises currently do, so they're probably going for a notably lower bar regardless. :p

Oh no, I'm just adding a different perspective to the discussion.
The idea of a Sony Smash Bros game excited me (assuming they don't mess with the Smash Bros. formula too much, and more or less rip it off wholesale, and just paste their own characters onto the game)

Problem is. If it doesn't sell well enough, forget about a possible sequel.
I don't care if it sells 5 millions units. But I do care that it sells good enough to guarantee a sequel in case the game is good or at least fun.

Well, there's nothing I or anyone here can really do about that, so why worry?

The sales perspective is pretty much as far from gaming as you can get.
