Ahahahahahahah holy crap. I was just scrolling down my facebook newsfeed this morning and saw the words "Mechons" and was like "Nah, none of my friends are playing this game". So I scroll back to it and see it's Nintendo's official Facebook. At this point, I think they're just playing with people, like large corporations are wont to do (give me a break, I was just waking up). Pop on over to GAF and see they were not lying.

hahaha oh man

Anyone who actually wanted this imported it. Operation Rainfall is dead, the hype is gone, its gonna sell like shit in a can, Nintendo will blame the fans and will announce Mother 4 exclusively for limited Japan release.

do we really need to start taking statistics about how many people wanted the game, and how many actually imported it? though the last part of your post implies sarcasm, people keep bringing this up

Let's leave S&P 2 out of this...

;_;

Yes please, don't remind us of the sales failure of maybe the best pure action game of the generation. My feelings are hurt enough at this point.

do we really need to start taking statistics about how many people wanted the game, and how many actually imported it?

Only if you want to talk about the statistic of people who want something versus the ones that actually buy it.

If the game was really only going to sell less than 10,000 copies, then there really was no reason to bring it over in the first place.

Of course the far more logical answer is that the number of people who imported it are at best minimal compared to an actual retail release.

I'm happy we're actually getting this. I do wish we'd get the same treatment for other games as well.

Another Code R, Pandora, The Last Story, Disaster, Fatal Frame IV along with Fortune Street, Xenoblade and Rhythm Heaven would give the Wii one hell of a send off...

If only my bizarro dream-world were reality. :(

Would be nice if the game sold good anyway.
Though "instant selliout" didn't meant much over there when the shipment was quite low to begin with.

Sin & Punishment 2 did like 20-30k when it debuted in the US and was considered as a big bomb. Xenoblade did like less than that in the UK-charts (estimates) and "instant sellouts" and "huge hit" were the words flying around.

It ends with a link to www.xenoblade.com, which re-directs to that site.

Just look at EBA which sold 120k but was still considered a disappointment. Xenoblade will probably sell at least 50k but I doubt Nintendo is going to be satisfied with the sales.

To be far, you really can't compare UK/US sales. 20k in the UK is far different than 20k in the US.

Yeah, but I'm just saying that Xenoblade was never expected to be this huge-hit in the US and the badly rounded (non-Chartz) number I last saw for Xenoblade across the entire Europe was under 100k sold.

Dilemma here. Got the Euro release. Just reached the second 'town'. Should I wait for the US release? I'm pretty sure it will have a better localization (if it is done inhouse)...

hmmmm.

Do you mean to tell me that I'm the only NeoGAF user that isn't down with the whole hacking their Wii thing?

I thought I was alone.
Yeah, I have too many WiiWare and Virtual Console purchases to play chance. I want all of that on my Wii U.

My last resort would have been to grab a cheap Wii to hack later on.. but hey, that's no longer needed (crossing fingers for The Last Story and Pandora's Tower, obviously).

Isn't that a European Trailer (just started it). Might be the launch trailer?

I see "defence," either they aren't localizing for American English or it is indeed an PAL trailer.

Just play the game... the voices are the same based on the trailer. I don't know why people keep putting them down. Just because they are British sounding doesn't mean they are bad.

You have to assume that their expectations are suitably low though, given that they are doing a very limited rollout. With EBA, they shipped a significant amount of copies (that were still lying around stores like Target months after release).

I refreshed my browser and the trailer showed up.

But damn if that trailer didn't have its fair share of spoilers. It shows a lot of characters and situations that don't appear until the last third (or less!) of the game. But the game is coming!

And it seems at the end that there's a new logo? They use two within the trailer.

You know I don't get why Nintendo doesn't sell more of their games directly in general. They have an online store presence already. Getting copies for the store shouldn't be an issue, even if they only do pre-orders to not allocate to much stock. Maybe to big of a undertaking to do it on a consistant basis? Not enough people?

I wouldn't bet on it having a diffrent localization if it's exclusive to a retailer. That dosent sound like it's worthy of doing an all new localization.

Besides the localization was already good. Voice acting is pretty good.

Typing "Bring Xenoblade Chronicles to the US" in all my Club Nintendo surveys finally paid off. Too bad I already imported.

Glad to see Nintendo of America came to their senses. I haven't invested as much time as others might have with this game, but it is easily one of the better RPGs available on consoles this entire generation.

They certainly did their homework with this game. It would be a shame to not see Monolith Soft rewarded properly.

although I'm from EU and finished the game a couple of weeks ago(I'm on the 2nd run now though :p) I will import the US version as well. just to show my support.

They branded EBA with the Touch Generations line. They expected it to be an evergreen title that would sell a shitload.
