Games that "play themselves"

Call of Duty gets hated on sometimes for allowing the gamer to progress without them having to do much. But in real life it would happen as well, so what is the complaint?

I have dabbled in the series and just started the MW3 solo campaign.

Prince of Persia 2008. It doesn't literally play itself, but it does it's best to require as little effort from the player as possible. You could probably beat the game using your foot.

Fascinating OP, but could you please expand a little on what you hope to discuss in this thread? Are we to give examples, or challenge your assertions or... ?

I don't understand. What would happen in real life? War would go on without players or the game would play itself...in real life? I'm so confused.

They should make a game where you showed up late and someone already beat the game. It's realistic so you can't complain.

I'm the OP. Ironic that I think the 2008 reboot is the most underrated game of this gen?

Last half of Snatcher (Sega CD version at least) is pretty much an hour+ movie with two shooting parts thrown in.

Kirby's Air Ride

This too. Trying to do anything in that game other than steer seemed completely pointless.

not sure if this counts, but those 'dungeons' in AssCreed games. Hold R+A and a direction = profit.

The funny thing is that I found the platforming dungeons to be the best part of the last couple AC games. Your criticism can be applied the games as a whole. There is no difficulty curve or depth to the mechanics, you could hold the trigger and watch cool shit happen.

Uncharted 2/3 and Enslaved both have this problem where you spend a lot of time just holding a direction and tapping a button to traverse.

i know. but fuck the 'beat it in 6min' nonsense for sync.

FFXII is the worst offender. Those saying FFXIII obviously never played a lot because at the end, you switch paradigm all the time. In FFXII you can just put down the controler down and you still win if you put the right gambits.

Fortune Street has an option to have the game play on its own for you.

Also, everybody's forgetting about NSMB Super Guide.

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
FFXIII doesn't play for itself. Play through more than 6 chapters of the game.
