dam... first real hard crash... guess no HD textures for me. it runs smoother with the landscape folder deleted...:/ they did work... and looked better, but I'll wait for a better version maybe.

So under landscape you have all the files? Or another folder?

There's no necessary activation.

I want to ask that anyway... if another mod uses a folder already in my texture folder, can I just put a texture folder in say landscapes..... because I've been just copying the files themselves in one folder... like it I have 3 mods for landscape I just have one landscape folder.

For. Fuck. Sake.

Had to get Steam out of Offline mode to get in touch with a mate, the shitty forced updated starts and screws up my game. Then I need to get the 4GB thing, nexus site keeps giving me a "connection timed out" when trying to download.

Valve needs to fuck off and let us PERMANENTLY turn off auto-updating.

Yup put them in the same folder.

You should try Mod Organizer from the OP and check out the pics last page if you want more help.

Dennis, what are your settings?

Its......complicated. I am using a lot of crap on top of each other but the colors are different from Vanilla due to Skyrim Enhanced Shaders or is it ENB no I can't remember what the last stuff I installed was.

Don't post such pretty pictures then!

:(

I wouldn't have been able to run it anyway.

Is ENB worth the performance cost? Any downsides other than that?

I thought the enb mod was solely for fixes right now? Is the graphical one out?

Cores, shaders and BIOS oh my!

Wait, so if you have set the game to "do not automatically update this game" some patches are still applied if deemed mandatory or whatever? Weird...

Which texture pack are you using for your rocks Dennis, not happy with mine.

I forget what its called cause it looks bad so I deleted the files but did not remove from the game. Then I have installed the new Serious HD Retexture Landscape Skyrim mod on top to overwrite but that looks bad.

All the available HD rocks look terrible.

The High Res water and some other small retextures are the only good texture mods out now.

We are still waiting for something like Qarls textures for Oblivion.

Seriously.

I was raging at Steam the other day because it kept downloading the 1.2 patch when I was trying to fix my broken game. Ended up being those damned Nvidia beta drivers.

I figured it out. Its the Enhancer Shaders. They are built on ENB for Burnout Paradise.

ENB for Skyrim isn't out yet.

I'm confused. What is this then?

http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=822#content

I just installed it last night and it looks great. There are a ton of different effects available but I haven't had the chance to mess with them much.

ENB is a different shader/effect/mod.

So does anyone know how to prevent Skyrim Nexus Mod Manager from overwriting my ini file every time I run it?

It autoconfigs every time I try to use it.

I tried Mod Organizer and I don't really like it. Most mods don't seem to work because it didn't install them properly...

Using the 4GB mod?

Looking forward to the ENB mod. The other shots on the site are pretty cool.

Not sure how it'll be running though. It's a completely different style.

edit: think hotlinking doesn't work so I posted the url instead.

Are you using the Large Address Aware tool? I started getting a lot of crashing post 1.2 until I started using the LAA tool.

No I am not, where do I go to fix this? Is it in the OP?

the URL you linked is not working

edit: nvm found it in OP

It isn't difficult, just make sure that each mod folder (i.e. in the 'mods' folder you have a folder for Enhanced Night Sky, Realistic Water, etc..) is treated like the Data folder, so for example texture mods should always have the texture folder inside it's mod folder (ModOrganizer/mods/Enhanced Night Sky/textures).

Some mods will include the data folder in the zip (ModOrganizer/mods/Enhanced Night Sky/data/textures), and in those cases they won't work until you get rid of the data directory.

Yeah, some stuff was in data/data/textures so of course it didn't work ^^
So the mod manager isn't actually so bad, I was just too stupid for it :D

Is the mod only supposed to install in the ModOrganizer/mods/ folder? Cause mine install there, but not in the SteamApps\common\skyrim\data folder....

Am I that crazy when I say I don't want any texture mods to ruin the wonderful atmosphere of Skyrim? I'm not talking about the interiors, those definitely need some higher res textures, but when I'm wandering around, like usual, I always notice how great the art style is and how well it fits together. I just have some doubts that some modders can achieve the same.

Then again, it could be because there isn't a good texture pack yet.

Yup.

That's the best thing. Keeps everything tidy.

Not crazy brot. There are few good mods out there right now.

You can't use the LAA tool (the one that permanently sets the LAA flag on the exe) with Skyrim anymore, the patch before the recent one broke that. You need to use this thing now: http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1013 (it loads the game with the LAA flag set every time you boot it, but doesn't alter the original exe)

Make sure to verify your files first, as it will only work with an unmodified exe.

No idea what's going on with my game.

For some reason I can now run Quality Skyrim AO with 45-55 fps pretty much everywhere. And at that FPS it feels very smooth. No idea what changed. I disabled a few mods but doubt they made that much of a difference. The game seems very random in FPS. Sometimes I get a crap FPS, I reset and then I get an awesome one. Not complaining though. AO for life.

Ah okay.

Also wondering: what would give a better image quality? 4x AA and FXAA checked or 8x AA and no FXAA.

Hot damn, my game keeps crashing to desktop.

I've got a lot of mods in there, but I can't seem to figure out what's causing it, and problem is, it's like sometimes it will last for 30 minutes, and other times it will crash to desktop as soon as I hit 'continue'.

I jump back into the game and keep going and just keep trying to play as much as I can before it crashes again, but it's especially bad when I'm outside in the world of Skyrim. I'm having to save every 2 minutes, crash, open, reload, move, save, crash, reload - totally ruining the experience for me and I'm absolutely obsessed with this game right now.

Up until this moment I've been loading my mods just by dumping them into the Data/textures directory, and I'm pretty certain it couldn't be the textures causing the crash? Unless Skyrim4GB is overloaded? I know that I need to restore the game to default and start with my mods again with a Mod Manager, but I tried to remove the Horse 1.5x, Rich Merchants and a Blacksmith Upgrade (build missing weapons, and forge lockpicks etc) and it said my save files were corrupt and I almost cried, re-enabled and it worked again ok, so I'm afraid if I take everything out my saves won't work any more?

What do I do to remove the mods and keep my save files safe? I've made a copy of my current save files to ensure that they're backed up in-case I destroy them :/

Any other suggestions?

If I try and fix the game cache does that use the internet much? I'm capped until tomorrow at the moment and I have the whole day free today and I'd really like to play all day.

Also (this spoiler has something to do with the Companions) - do ppl suggest
becoming a warewolf?
Like is there a purpose for it, or can you just choose to avoid it all together?

This is the first Elder Scrolls game that has been 'right' for me, Oblivion I stopped after 15 hours, and Morrowind I lasted about 35, but I knew I wasn't going to like it form the start, but Skyrim I never want to end and that's good because it's SO big.

Cheers guys.

Quick question... been out of town for a few days so I don't know if anything has changed, but did Bethesda pull the patch yet? I have been running Steam in offline mode and using the old .exe with the LAA patch on it. Is this the best way to do it? Or should I be using the 4GB mod instead? I am afraid of turning online mode for Steam on and having it download the patch (it reverted my options to "keep up to date" for some reason).

Save your exe and interface.bsa file, let it patch, then replace both.
