Furry-GAF

I believe the first time I was ever exposed to this sub-culture was that episode of CSI (Vegas) where there was some convention, and someone died during a yiffing orgy in the desert or something.

I have to say, if nothing else, it's cool that lots of people are getting experience at sewing and stuff. I'll never be able to even do something as simple as patch up a tear in a shirt, and I think it's pretty cool that so many people are able to create entire costumes.

I've known a couple of furries in my time, and they were fine. I don't have anything against furries, but I just find the entire art side of it to be annoying since it's just tons and tons and tons of really ugly sexual imagery. And the rave stuff too... Oh, devart...

I used to be friends with a furry who went to some of the bigger furry conventions every year. One year I tagged along with him out of morbid curiosity, and honestly they were pretty cool people. Socially awkward? Most definitely. But creepy? Aside from perhaps one or two people I met, I can't say they were creepy at all. They were really chill. Actually, the people I meet at anime conventions are typically far creepier. That said, I can't identify with them at all, so I don't bother trying.

Also, what's the deal with furries mostly being homo/bisexual? At least that's what I gathered. It got to the point where furries automatically assumed my friends and I were gay just because we were at the event. I'm not even exaggerating -- everyone I met was gay or bi, including females, and we're talking about over a hundred people over a three day period. Not that it bothered me, but I just don't understand the connection.

That's what I was curious about as well. Regarding the fursuit being more important than gender.

I see that some of the ponies and Cheezmo have posted in this thread. The last one needed to complete the unholy trifecta is Ookami-kun.

Maturity, bitches.
The hate of furries on the internet is so horrible. I mean, I'm perpetually amazed about how some people will redicule and hate people for something that has nothing to do with them.
Blame the users of DA who insist on animorphing everybody's favourite characters.

the hate of furries on the internet is so ingrained in early 2000ish internetism it's not going anywhere

hell nowadays furries are considered pretty vanilla compared to what treasures the internet contains

furries do you imagine your female partners having multiple sets of breasts?

ANSWER THE QUESTION

Most furries are ga--

--y, so answering Jenga's question is pointless. I'm not sure why it's popular in the homosexual socially awkward communities, but it is. I think it has to do with the fact they feel less shame having multiple partners in a fashion compared to being looked down upon by the "human"/gay community given STDs and the like. But fuck if I know.

This episode was actually many peoples' introduction to the whole thing.

Only a very small percentage of Furries fursuit. Even less sexually so.

My thread (which was actually serious unlike this bullshit troll thread) made it to 10 pages before being deleted.

Yes, deleted.

Edit:

This was actually what my thread was about. I was asking why this is.

Here's my theory on why the internet hates furries so much:

Picture the internet as a giant public high school that was merged with a small catholic school, and a medium sized juvenile detention hall.

Now imagine there's an odd subculture at that high school that mostly keeps to themselves. Let's say it's a Magic: the Gathering club. The Magic club members have always been bullied a bit, just because they're a bit different. They don't go around flaunting it, however, so it isn't so bad.

But when you add a few people with Aspergers syndrome to the equation who, happy to join an accepting social group for once, begin submitting sketches of Magic cards to their art teachers, wearing cardboard armor made of Magic cards to school for no apparent reason, and verbally attacking people unprovoked for perceived discrimination of Magic the Gathering players, shit gets out of hand real fast.

Like I said in my first post in the thread, I used to be part of the fandom, I may still browse some sites, and I'm friends with some furs in college.

But the bad parts of the furry fandom are the most outspoken, and that's how the internet populace sees furries.

Ok. Great. Because I had this conception of furries comeng home from their 9 to 5 and coming home and chilling in fursuits.

So I'm trying to wrap my head on what a furry does in an everyday sort of way to express furriness. I refuse to believe its all sexual.

I honestly hope not.
I knew a girl who was a furry. I think a bear.
She was also wiccan. I miss hanging out with her. Really interesting person.

I always wonder at the large amount of overlap between "high-school" subcultures. And yes, I think in the context of high-school being gay/bi and being wiccan often meant that you were part of a subculture.

Actually going on about 6 months now, but I've never had a problem with it in the past.

I was never comfortable with the furry hate even when I used to hang around on /b/ and be a tool years ago.

You know something has gone horribly wrong with someone's personal development when they decide that cartoon animals are more sexually attractive than humans.

Neither one of them is "worse".

Scalie then.

I mean, Alligator avatar AND your old MLP avatar? C'mon, son!

HEY alligators are strong, proud, majestic and virile reptiles. Their shimmering scales as they glide out of the river, water beading off their smooth bodies, is a sight to behold.

Nothing sexual about it.

Someone lock me up I've gone insane.

In all seriousness, furries aren't that bad... Except for the fact that all of the gay furries I know are dangerously promiscuous with their online fursona.

I used to date two guys who were furries... Unfortunately, time was not kind to them and they both got fat. Not their fursona... in real life.

If you get fat in real life, do you have to make your fursona fat as well?

I've also dated a furry, but he didn't have a fursona until after we broke up :p

Does any f this shit even matter? People congregate to one another seeking acceptance. Doesn't matter what the general idea may be, (As per ignorant perception) the furry community seems to be composed of individuals who are either sexually repressed or are suffering from stunted childhood growth, and some are just perverts. It doesn't matter though they are just one group of people like any other, and I am sure that there are normal furriers out there that dislike what the community has become. Another example would be anime fans, it's like calling them all pedophiles, which is not the case at all. I digress though, point is, let people enjoy whatever brings them happiness, and let not a few bad apples sour your subjective nature.

If something takes over a person's life to that extend then it just shows that they're an obsessive person.

What they obsess over isn't important.

there's a furry MMO?

Second Life is a de facto Furry MMO.
