Even with Call of Duty coming to market, Battlefield 3 was the third best-selling game of the month, and is now the best-selling title under the Battlefield property.”

Strong sales on Black Friday pushed the U.S. installed base of the Wii™ system to 37.7 million units and helped the Nintendo 3DS™ system surpass the first-year totals of the Nintendo DS™ system (2.37 million) after only eight months on the market, according to the NPD Group, which tracks video game sales in the United States. Software

The Super Mario 3D Land™ game for Nintendo 3DS sold more than 625,000 units and is the fastest-selling portable Super Mario™ title in U.S. history.
The Legend of Zelda™: Skyward Sword for the Wii system had the biggest first day in franchise history and sold more than 600,000 units in its first week.

Hardware

Nintendo sold more than 2 million combined hardware units in November. This includes more than 860,000 Wii systems, more than 795,000 Nintendo 3DS units and more than 350,000 units of the Nintendo DS family of systems.
Nintendo 3DS had its biggest single month of sales, representing an increase of more than 215 percent over the previous month, and has now sold nearly 2.5 million units since launch.
Wii had its biggest Black Friday ever with more than 520,000 units sold. Full-month sales increased by more than 245 percent over the previous month.

“Great software and unparalleled value drove momentum on Black Friday and through November,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “Both Nintendo 3DS and Wii have already set records, and we’ve still got the bulk of the shopping season to go. -For November, Ubisoft is the only publisher with two games in NPD’s top five list of best-selling games: Assassin’s Creed Revelations (No. 4) and Just Dance 3 (No. 5).

-Sales of Assassin’s Creed Revelations are up year over year to its predecessor Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood (Nov. 2010) by 10 percent.

-Just Dance 3 continues to garner excellent sales momentum on the Nintendo Wii system. Just Dance 3 was the No. 1 Wii game for the month of November.

-The Just Dance franchise has produced the No. 1 Wii game for the past 13 of 14 months of NPD reports (Just Dance 3 twice, Just Dance 2 ten times, Just Dance Summer Party once).

-Dance fever continues to captivate America. As of today’s NPD report, Ubisoft has 72 percent market share among dance video games for calendar year 2011 with its recent dance game releases of ABBA You Can Dance, The Black Eyed Peas Experience, Just Dance 3 and Just Dance Kids 2.

PC boxed retail sales also surprised analysts, jumping 57 percent year-over-year. Details on what was driving these numbers were not detailed, but one would imagine that games such as Battlefield 3, Modern Warfare 3, and Skyrim had a lot to do with those surging numbers

I told everyone this in the fall bomba thread, there is no precedence for HD port-ups selling millions of units, no matter how popular the previous game was. Everyone who cares about Halo has beaten the game dozens of times in the past decade, and the multiplayer is just map packs for Reach.

I am really surprised that Saints Row charted and got as high as it did. I need to see how low the numbers are before I laugh about it outselling zelda though.

skyrim doesnt deserve its sales. It really sends the message that bugs at launch are okay as long you fix it several months down the line.

Congrats to Uncharted and Batman making the top 10 in a really competitive month. Surprised to see Uncharted outsell Zelda.

I would congratulate Skyrim too (I've really really been loving the game), but I can't help but feel that they don't deserve that much considering their awful handling of the PS3 version. Luckily my PS3 version post-patch hasn't had many issues, but others are still shit.
