Well, popped into my local store today and they have EVERYTHING in stock. Doesn't seem that hard to get a Vita. If they didn't put that stupid lithium battery thing in place I'd be sending them out to all of you GAF! (no)

Supposedly, Sony hard a very large shipment for launch, so no need to worry about shortages.

And even i am moderately surprised
as per other thread , if Army Corps of Hell keeps up it's opening and manages to flesh out into a full fun game then it's going to be the surprise of the launch.

So much potential for fun and amazingly rocking METAL soundtrack.

I'm really looking forward to alot of games from the vita, not only do I have alot of work to do in actually going through some PSP games that I missed, but I want to pick up DJ Max, Dragon's Crown, Ys, Tales of, Uncharted, Sound Shapes, and that Spider game (think Alien Spidy maybe?

I'm also interested in hearing how Lord of Apocolypse is as the shots from the screenshot thread got me interested in that aswell. Hopefully we get some impressions, or reviews soon.

That's "Dr." dofry to you.
Watching the Vita stream yesterday broke the camels back.

Yodobashi Camera in Osaka had Vita's left, so I got the WiFi model. The shelves very empty of boxes and games, but it seems there are plenty of 3G models available. Only 4 and 8GB cards though as all of the bigger ones were sold out.

Surprisingly light device. I forgot to buy the screen protector and a carry case, so have to treat this a bit more carefully for a bit.

Impulse buy early xmas present.

Wait... PS1 games aren't working right now on the Vita? Wasn't it also presented as one of the features of the handheld? Patch time I guess.

They've said a few times, that game archives won't work at the Japanese launch.

Well I was not in every vita threads so far. Sorry! Should be ready for the US launch then?
Well, it was kind of big news and got a lot of hate, but whatever. As for the US launch, we really don't know anything more than "they're working on it".

And about the lack of online multiplayer in Maoh - bah, all Vita games should have online multiplayer... :<

Agreed, it's incredibly short-sighted to assume everyone lives in Japan, with their dense living space and proliferation of video games. Even in Western Europe you hardly have friends having the same system and games like you. I never saw anyone in Poland playing DS, or PSP, let alone walking to them and saying: "Hi, wanna MH together?".

The hardware is there, I hope more and more games will have wi-fi online modes.

Fellas, this is a long-shot, and I apologise if it's been asked elsewhere in the thread, but if someone has a Vita, an American PSN account, and a PS2 title, would they please be able to test if it works (with/without remote play)?

Really curious as to whether the PS2 Classics, etc. will work like the PSone games.

Thanks very much in advance.

- Select stores report sellouts of Vita WiFi models.

- Estimated sellthroughs; Vita WiFi 85%, Vita 3G/WiFi 56%

- Top selling launch software Mogol6, Uncharted, Dynasty Vita. Ridgeracer "uncharacteristically" slow

- Memorycard stock low; 32G and 16G soldout, over 90% Vita buyer also bought memory cards

- software-Vita tie ratio 1:1

If accurate, that's a really good sell through for the wifi model. Of the estimated (rumored?) 700K first shipment do we know what the wifi/3g split was?

Surprised by the 1:1 software-Vita ratio.

I'm kinda not since most ppl bought a memory card as well, not to mention we don't know how many of them went home and bought games on PSN at the discounted prices.

Aye, had I bought one I wouldn't have even gotten a game, just a memory card to load with my PSP/PSOne(/sadface) games. The real gem of this launch will be the memory card sales.

I would like to know that as well. Are the shops in Japan close now?

Can't remember where I read it, but the shipment split was meant to be pretty heavily in favour of the 3G unit. Like 3 for every 1 Wi-Fi only unit.

Edit: This was well before we heard about the 700k shipment, though.

What's Mogol6? Hot Shots Golf? EDIT: Thanks

I was kind of hoping Ridge Racer would flop because I don't want that shitty DLC model to catch on. Stupid Bamco.

Hmm. If we assume a 200k/500k split, sales should be around 450k. Nice. I think most predictions were around there.

So if the division is 50-50 which i dont expect.. i think it should be 60:40 in favor of WiFi to 3G/Wifi
Even then it means almost 500k sold first week..

Which is not half bad..

Now we need some block busters on VITA soon.. else its going to go down pretty quickly.

yeah, it's a bit tongue in cheek - game looks fine - a bit sparse but that's to be expected. :)

Right - i -might- do some more screens later but i really need to go and actually PLAY some of these games.

Thought round up :

1) i expected to be returning games tomorrow, but instead of the ones i've played, i'm happy to keep them all (even Dark Quest which is definitely the stand out runt of the bunch)

2) actually - if i WERE to return games it's likely to be Mingol, Ridge (by the skin of it's teeth) and Power Smash as i'm pretty sure i'd be playing these long term so would likely switch out for downloaded versions

3) Bad surprise so far has been Uncharted - i think i just need time to get used to it. Not really a problem with aiming, i just feel a little -meh- on it. But that might be because i just went through Unch3

4) Good surprise may well be Army Corps of Hell - it's too early to call either way but the opening was just such good fun that as long as the gameplay keeps evolving and adds some extra elements then it could well be a blast.

5) Prime concerns are that the OS is a bit fiddly and whilst there are good ideas there seems to be some 'weird' in there, add in a couple of freezes (in the OS rather than in games), and at times things don't seem intuitive. 3 day rule though - it'll take that long to get comfortable with something new. Other major bummer is games that don't run at native res tend to look a bit rough around the edges.

6) Battery life - well, i've been uploading stuff, playing in spurts, and generally fooling with the machine today since about 2pm and i'm still around half battery. Not claiming that's indicitave of a 3+ hour battery life, but just saying it's not like "it's dead after 1 hour play!!!!1111" :)

I would check re: Mingol PSN version before ditching your hardcopy game. On the 8-4 podcast it says Mingol requires additional purchase of Online pass, which the hardcopy version doesn't need.

wow! yeah, i noticed there was a 900 yen online fee but assumed that was covered for online purchase and was just to kill second hand sales a bit.

But if you have to pay for the Online with the PSN version? that's ... stupid! lol

Many thanks for the heads up :)

Oh man, I'd love to get my hands on one but I'm in France now so it'd probably be impossible. :-/ Was just thinking last night how in-satisfying the 3ds has been thus far. Aside from Mario, the Vita launch lineup is better than the entire 3ds lineup thus far. Ah well, the DS started out just as rough in 2004-2005.

Not to mention next year there is 90% chance for MH 3rd Vita and Type-0.

not liking the OS at all. Swiping in all four directions, launching friends lists etc(do you get notifications if the app aren't running)?

Set up a jpn account to havea look at thestore and download demos, but will switch to myUS account before playing retail games. Also no wifi in our house so need to find a hotspot tomorrow for more demos. Only managedto download ar combat which was confusing. Hopefully it wasnt the same game as in the recent AR showreel, because while playing in your living room is cute, it doesn't seem to use objects as obstacles
