Kojima teases Snake Eater 3D bundle 3DS (dat snake skin)

It's definitely newer than the E3 demo. I can't find any show floor footage of the TGS demo so I dunno if it's newer than that... does this eShop demo support the Slide Pad Expansion?

Regardless of which demo it is, if they released a demo that has shocking frame rate but the actual game is fully polished, then Konami deserves to fail and the game deserves to bomb hard.

the bundle could worth it.

Since it's a lazy-shitty-ugly-pricey port and looks like that:

it just deserve to bomb.

PW HD edition was horrible at first, running below 15fps until quite near the launch; it didn't stay like that thought.

I believe we haven't seen any recent footage of the game.

btw, the limited edition is totally elegant! Wish they release it in the west too.

The demo looks good but framerate and control issues worry me. I want this game to be good because I never beat snake eater on the ps2.

Personally, I think it looks hideous.

Then again, I think all products with a snake skin finish look tacky as hell.

I mean, what the fuck were they thinking?

What happened here? Why did the recent screens look so god damn awful and port-ish compared to the Naked Sample teasers we got at E3?
Is this game just a port and nothing more? Are those graphics we saw before tied to an unannounced game that's completely unrelated, or what?

Yes, direct port with nothing extra added except for crouch mode and 3D.
The original E3 demo was never a game, just a video showcasing what the 3DS can do.

Looks alright. I like the snake skin pouch in the Konami-style Portable Ops LE more. This looks like it's just hard plastic?

Also as pointed out by the demo video, "strafing" while crawling, unless that was already in Subsistence. And gyro controls, and creating your own camo via photos, and a number of other small additions like Yoshi dolls. There were rumors of other additions too that we don't know about yet.

I see nothing of the sort in that video. And I have a 3DS myself, they are not scratches.

The 3DS can scratch itself from the ridge of the bottom screen knocking against the top screen when closed, as they make contact.

It's practically identical. Capcom pulled the same thing with the Mercenaries demo being a half year old trade show build.

The differences are subtle but they're definitely there.

1. New start scree.
2. Complete options menu from final game including language settings and slidepad pro controls that likely didn't even exist around E3.
3. New in game tutorial prompts.
4. Hell Mode.
5. Not 100% sure on this one due to E3 footage being offscreen but looks like there might be some minor, artistic tweaks to the lighting (the first room is much darker in the eShop demo).

Whilst the eShop demo is definitely based off of the E3 demo, it has been updated.

The 3DS can scratch itself from the ridge of the bottom screen knocking against the top screen when closed, as they make contact.

Maybe for some people but I haven't seen any evidence for such in person. I've had my 3DS since launch, it has no permanent markings. Wipes off every time.

It happened to mine and it has happened to many, many other people, with numerous reports here on GAF. It hasn't happened to everyone though.

Game looks OK to me. Then again it might be the low-quality camera masking the problems.

Snake skin 3DS is pretty cool, too.

Here's another video of the eShop demo, a 2 parter:

Part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_DSKZjgyLQs
Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d8ILIK7hTII

Is he using the frankenstick in this video? He does some sort of calibration at the beginning and gets some prompts to use the "X" button, which would normally be used to move the camera up.

Honestly I think the frame rate issues on the cutscenes is a lot better than what it was earlier, but it might be my mind playing tricks on me. And while the textures are pretty muddy, it looks like the game runs fine.

While I'm definately getting HD version for MGS2, I can see myself getting this as well. I guess the demo will decide on it, but crouch walking is too much to pass up.

Hmm, the game looks perfectly fine to me.

Yeah looks like MGS3 to me. If it weren't for those screens released a couple months ago, I doubt most of us would even notice the downgrade.

The controls look a little weird. Not sure how I feel about using the face buttons to aim.

Ive noticed tiny lines from where they made contact but no scratches have formed from it (yet). Anyway, the skin looks cool. I wouldn't get one but its neat.

Yeah but you make it sound like its happened to a lot of people, which proportionally it more than likely has not. There's a reason why it's called the vocal minority/silent majority.

I'm not knocking your experience and understand if it comes off that way I just can't help but feel it's not really that big of an issue after being a big proponent of it but then never having any problems past wipeable smudge lines. I figured if anyone should get screen scratches it would be me since I carry my 3DS around in my back pocket most of the time where there's a lot less room.

I do fully agree that the system design is poor due to the fact that the two parts can make contact while closed though. I just don't feel that this is the "RRoD" that many people want to make it be (sorry if that's a poor analogy) yet I still constantly see people bringing it up in new threads "but I don't want to pick one up yet if screen scratching is still an issue".

Edit: And just to be clear I've seen the pictures people have posted, I understand that it has and does happen, I just don't believe it's as wide spread an issue is all.

This is getting a bit off topic though, as for MGS3D I'll save my judgements until I can see the game in person. The 3DS itself definitely looks interesting though, not sure if I like it or hate it.

Mine used to wipe off....until they didn't.

I'm actually really curious as to what specific conditions are causing the scratches to form, I mean most everyone is obviously getting the smudges but far fewer are having them go on to become scratches.

I think it comes from mishandling the system, like applying a lot of pressure on the the unit while it's closed.

I carry the thing around in my pocket and the smudges still wipe off clean.
