New info about Final Fantasy Versus XIII and Kingdom Hearts 3D

At this point has Versus XIII exceeded the development time of XIII? I'm counting five or six years of development for an offshoot. Rather amazing in a horrifying sort of way.

To be fair they probably spent about 2 years of the 'development' designing Noctis' wardrobe.
The rest of it was Nomura trying to explain the plot of KH to the guys in the office.

To believe Versus XIII was announced before the release of the Wii and its successor platform will also be released before the game is...

Shit, we've almost gone through an entire console generation for most of these companies and the game still isn't out. D:

News about cutscenes and vague promises that we might be shown something at some later date.

I keep promising myself I won't read anymore news about Versus. Why can't I hold myself to that? Probably because the lack of news is more entertaining at this point than if they were to actually show us anything.

anyone believe the info in this interview?

The Skinny on Final Fantasy Versus XIII
Yes, it’s coming. When? Not sure.

When rumors of a Japan-only release spread across the Web, many fans became skeptical. Final Fantasy Versus XIII has been in the works for several years–E3 2006, if you want to get technical. However, not much more information was given when inquired about the much-awaited title.

“It’s definitely coming, not to worry,” said a member of the testing team, “I get e-mails about it every now and then that definitely tells me it’s coming to America. It might be a few years, but it’ll be worth the wait.”

If their reaction is 'eh it might take a few years but yeah, its coming it will be great!' then I suppose the questions are warranted.

It'll come here too much money to be made and for as long as this game has been in production and how fed up people are it will still sell a ton.I can see the comment about it being awhile being true though with translation and whatnot.

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.

So... JP Versus XIII 2013, US Versus XIII 2016?

I have no idea how game development works but why can't they start working on it now while the games being made so that when its done it can be released at the same time?

what I don't get is why they are wasting their time and resources redoing the cutscenes that were already finished and looked perfectly fine :p

Separate teams. And if the engine is continuing to improve, the non-CG team doesn't have to waste their time updating the assets for one scene that will never be used again.

Versus XIII is really all about Kitase wanting to prove to himself that he can carry on the bullshit of a vaporware title for 10 years. George Broussard is his true video game idol.

It almost seems like they have done some major engine changes I wouldn't be surprised if that's been a factor holding it up.I wonder if that is the case, if they have to go back and make some big changes.

i bet original ending meant the series was over but S-E made it a CLIFFHANGER instead.

As far as I know, Sora's story is supposed to be ending with KHIII, so there is still that. And then there is supposed to be another story arc after that. But we'll all be dead by then so I can't see how it matters.

He's a pretty swell guy in my books anyway.
Didn't they already hint at a 'BBS Volume 2' or something at the end of BBS? Was that ever explained? I assumed it meant another game
A surprising amount of people do talk about it like it was a game announcement.

I saw the ending and it made me wonder why though, since the video made it look like it'd be one of those games that reused worlds if it were one.

Original ending had Sora and Riku failing their exam and dying in the process, leading to Mickey and Aqua taking over as primary protagonists.

Nope, Nomura said that Xehanort's story ends with KHIII, but Sora will still be the main character afterwards.

I'm pretty sure I'm remembering that properly because it disappointed me when I first heard it, as much as I enjoy Sora as the main character, a new main would have been nice.

Not that it matters.

EDIT:

Here, from a Famitsu last July:

"The Xehanort part of the Kingdom Hearts saga will end with KHIII, he said. He currently has a framework of some form in place for the continuation of the series after that, and Sora will remain as main character."

Just some more perspective, and something that makes me sad at the same time. I was a Sophmore in High School when they announced Versus. I will have finished my 4 year bachelors before the game is finally released and then some probably.

Aha, it's been a few years since I read any news, it was just something I vaguely remember translating back in the day.

I couldn't give you a full answer but it's not an easy task I'd imagine. I'd imagine there would be lots of hurdles trying to keep the game as close to the original as possible but making the game work in English. I'd also think that some games probably have certain changes up till late in the game and would also think that it would be very costly to translate it at the same time but I couldn't be fully certain.

Seeing how badly XIII-2 performed in Japan (it should do even worse in the west), i don't expect to ever see a XIII-3.

It sold pretty much what was shipped, and it's just going to get cheaper to make with each iteration.

But they paid a fashion designer to do that!!

You mean the movie were the guy lets in ghost aliens into their city knowing that they already have problems controlling them and that these ghosts have have a tendency to grow in numbers at random. And of course these ghosts kill everyone.

And his reaction is "My god what have I done"

And the movie were scientists don't actually act like scientists.

Yeah no.
Let me be honest: I read this and thought you were talking about Rah-xephon lol

I bet XIII-2 is going to sell better in the west then people think.

And I find it it funny that the best selling PS3 game of 2011 is considered still bad.

I'd be in the dick
I've been looking forward to Versus since I was in high school. I've already graduated college with a 4 year degree and it's still seemingly far off. Goddamn.
