Let the rage begin!

15. Game Boy
14 NES
13 ZX Spectrum
12 Commodore 64
11 Gamecube
10 PC

9 Amiga
8 Playstation 3
7 Dreamcast
6 Mega Drive
5 Nintendo 64
4 PlayStation
3 PlayStation 2
2 Super Nintendo
1 XBOX 360

...the Xbox 360 has seen more in six years than any other games machine to date. In many ways a summation of everything else in this list, and no matter what follows it, the Xbox 360 will stand the test of time as the console that, more than any other machine, gave gaming to all the people , all the time

haha at 360 being number one.

They included gameboy, so why didn't they include the DS? The DS is one of the best systems ever.

PS2 hands down, it's not even funny actually. They should lay off the drugs and reconsider their list since the PS2 is factually the best one.

They really put themselves in a hole here since they decided to put PC on the list. PC has no generations so you have to include everything that's ever come out on PC, and that's by far >>>>>>> than any games console.

Not putting that at #1 is a joke.

Well the 360 did invent online play and it has the first and best shooter Halo. The PC never stood a chance.

Also, yay lists!

I suppose I'm a poor person to judge here, since the only console I've ever owned is an Xbox 360, but if this is the very best consoles have to offer, maybe the PC trolls are right when they call it the gaming ghetto. The 360 itself is a very poor and cheaply made piece of hardware, the game selection is not nearly as varied as I would expect from a proper gaming platform, the online system is poor and costs money to boot, the compatibility of accessories (like a proper racing wheel) is not what it should be thanks to proprietary nonsense and while the initial purchase is cheap, my god is it an expensive platform to own.

This is complete nonsense.

I don't just mean the supposed ranking, but the question in itself. GamesTM is a smart read and I find it difficult to see them publishing such bollocks.

Have we got a better source or link? The OP doesn't even provide a URL, just mentioned the GRCade forums in passing.

Nope, sorry, would've put PS2 at number 1. No console so far has had the sheer quantity of diverse titles.

There was never an underrepresented genre on PS2, IMO. It had something for everybody, and not just one title in a particular genre usually.

It was taken from the latest addition, that subscribers are receiving. Mine should be here tomorrow.

I'm surprised PC is so low on that list. Either don't include it, or put it at #1 where it belongs. Also, the PS2 dominated like nothing else.

Well congratulations! You got yourself caught!
I'd agree with the Xbox 360 at #1. Xbox Live alone has been forward-thinking and trend-setting. Competitors are still playing catch-up on many of its features and concepts. Achievements, community focus, apps, etc...

PC not being inherently a games device is a strange inclusion, but it definitely deserves a higher spot since considered.

The fact that consoles nowadays barely own any exclusive games kill the reason why they are the 'best' system of all time.

If you ask me what the 360 own that cannot be found on any other systems five years from now, I can barely name more than 5.

Not to say I don´t appreciate them as a gaming platform, but I´m glad to see no iOS devices on the list. Disappointed on the lack of NeoGeo though. Also PS2 should have been #1, but it´s entirely subjective of course.

Where the fuck are the GBA and DS? They were able to choose them, but they aren't on the list. What fresh devilry is this? Oh well, it's a reader poll, so it's meaningless anyway (like every poll actually).

If it is a real ranking, then its the scribblings of madmen.

Consider the hardware: the most unreliable and toxic console to ever be released, with a failure rate that shames the entire industry.

Consider the software: the console has objectively less games than the PC, and less diversity than the PS2 and DS.

So what kind of logic are they using?

Even PS3 is a better console then a 360.

Well....
I have to say that the 360 has caught me by surprise as well.
Bought one 2 months or so ago just for Cave games and not much else besides a couple of XBLA games. But I surprised myself just how much I love the system and it's exclusives, especially after being extremely disappointed with my original Xbox.
So much so that I'm in the process of selling about 50 PS3 games that are multi platform and re-buying them on the 360.

Not sure if I'd put it in the top spot though. Only time will tell I guess, but I don't see it happening without a fight.

One thing I am very critical of is any list like this that completely ignores the Sega Saturn and what it brought to the table.

This just in - only console-exclusive games are any good.

you can play two different versions of half life 2 on the 360

what other console can do that

The reasoning given to support Xbox 360's position is very poor. "Gave gaming to all the people, all the time." Wait, what? It's a good console, but the library isn't that varied compared to the PS2.
