NOTICE: Location AND Time changed as of Jan. 24. Date will remain the same (Feb. 4th)

Calling all Los Angelinos (and Los Angelinas). We'll be meeting at Moo Dae Po II in Koreatown for All You Can Eat (AYCE) Korean BBQ. Well have a reservation set for 6pm on Saturday, February the 4th. Eat light that morning/afternoon.

For those of you unfamiliar with AYCE Korean BBQ, don't worry. It's not some alien or complicated experience. It's family style and we cook all the food ourselves. You're brought out platters of seasoned meats, seafood, and veggies and you place them on a large grill built right into the table. If its your first time, just sit back and let the veterans cook the meats and place them on your plates. The goal is to eat as much as you can stomach without leaving anything leftover -- there is an actual penalty if we do (we'll have to pay extra for any uneaten platters).

Koreatown can be a difficult place to find parking so carpooling is encouraged.

Now where are we going again?

and how do you get there?

Moo Dae Po II is at 3014 W. 7th Street in Koreatown (Los Angeles for your GPS), just east of S. Vermont Ave., between 8th and Wilshire.

What are we eating? (Will update this specifically for Moo Dae Po II later)

Meats:
Bulgogi, Brisket, Pork Belly, Galbi, Tongue, Pork Neck, Calf Intestine
(You can order as much as three meats at a time. But eat all you order!)

They also offer Chicken, Octopus and Bibimbap (vegetarian)

Sides:
Rice, Kim Chi, Pancake, Banchan, Rice Paper

What's this going to cost me?

Should come to $20-$25+ per person, depending on drinks. Since we're going to be all at one table, please bring enough cash to cover your portion.

Any one interested in carpooling?

Wow. Nice OT for the meet-up. Are you going to post a running list of those that are in? Bet we can beat out other cities in terms of turn out.

I'm a solid "Probably." ^_^

I was just going to graffiti the names of those that are a solid yes on the banner on top, but I'll end up tacking on a list at the end of the OT.

Most likely will go, what else do I have to do on a Saturday? And the chance to embarrass myself from my lack of chopstick skills?

Also, as I said in the LA thread, if anybody needs a ride fom the South Bay area, I can provide.

Put me down for a 80/20 yes.

I've wanted to try this place for a long time, and what better way to experience than with a bunch of strangers?

6:00 is kind of early and traffic going into the heart of LA that at time is going to be brutal.

I'm taking a "vacation" day from work so I hope it'll be worth it!

edit: I'm hoping it doesn't come out to more than $30 in the end...I don't want to discourage future meetups cause people will think it's gonna be too expensive.

Gonna try and make it to this one. I was busy on the In-n-Out day, but I'll see if I can make time for this one (lots more advance notice, yay).

I've eaten at Road to Seoul many a time, (and El Cholo across the street!), always a good time and a good meal.

Also, maybe it's just me but the octopus isn't that good.

Hmm, is it possible to drive down to LA in less than a day? From, say, north of the border?
From, say oregon? I've made a trip from salem to la in 16 hours. Wouldn't advise it for a meetup unless you plan on staying awhile though.

Ermac

Proudly debt free. If you need a couple bucks, just ask.
dope OP, I'm diggin the graffiti. All you bros better come out.

OMG-WTF-KBBQ is one of my favorites.

Wish I could go, but i'm going to the inferior bay-area for the weekend with family. ;_;

EDIT: So how is that place for KBBQ? I've never head of it.

We'll probably stick with 7pm then. I hope it won't be too stressful for you to try to make both.

Nah, that shouldn't be a problem. Some things to keep in mind about Road to Seoul, though:

1. They won't seat us unless the entire party is there.
2. Without a reservation, we will probably wait over an hour to sit down - especially on a Saturday night.

That's really the best reason to do it earlier (before main dinner rush) and to say if you're not there by the assigned meeting time, .. shame :(

I would go, but I live in the valley. No job either. Would love to come out if I had a job and money. Sounds awesome.

All right, I should definitely be able to make it out to this. I see no reason why not.

Graffiti me in!

Lurker Gaf representing, but I'm always down to meet new people and eat good food. 80% chance I'll go; if I do, I can pick up 1-3 people along the way if they don't mind squeezing in the back. I'd be coming from Monterey Park.

It was not the smartest idea to do this graffiti thing.. it's taking me forever. I'll get you all on the wall though.
