No one knows yet. So far the only PSN game confirmed to be $15 is Plants vs Zombies.

Stardust Vita should be 10. I'm leaning towards 3g now though if I can get that free 8GB card on top of the 32GB one I plan to buy. And I think I will get Rayman (for sure) and debating on HSG or Wipeout. I know both have online but I want a laid back casual game like golf so I'm leaning towards that.

I wanted to pick up the PSP Soul Calibur but it's $39.99 on PSN - WTF?
Physical UMD has to be less than half that price. Perfect example of a title that they're willing to let rot on the digital shelf, then discount and have a potential new customer. Who's to blame for this? Furthermore, who monitors this shit?

wait? how is this possible?!

Amazon.co.uk had all Ubisoft's launch games for about a fiver a while back. For a few hours, then the prices changed. But they don't appear to have cancelled the orders. I have three of their games ordered at those prices, although I had no option to choose free delivery, and it won't let me change the delivery option now...still, I can't really complain :)

I didn't really keep up with Vita stuff for the last couple of weeks.

Do we know how games on PSN will be priced? Should I pre-order on Amazon or will the price difference be significant enough?

What about getting our PSP games on this thing? And news? Didn't they say they'd announce something closer to launch?

Thanks. :)

Is the Wifi/3G bundle worth it? I mean, to use the 3G, you have to pay additional each month, right?

Also, is there any info on Touch My Katamari? That, Hot Shots and Virtua Tennis are my most interested launch titles that I've looked anything up on. I'll do more research to see what else I'm craving, but I think my BIGGEST concern is the bundle options. Day 1 system buys are fun. :3

I cancelled my 16gig memory card preorder. After careful deliberation, I realized that I won't need the card for a while, so there's no need to buy it day one.

I'm buying retail for everything that I can get it on, and the few titles I'm downloading on day one aren't going to eat up my 8 gigs.

Even better, is that instead of paying for an overpriced memory card, I can now purchase two more games for my Vita on day one if I desire. Which games I'm not sure about, though. I'm

3G/Wi Fi Vita: $299.99
Uncharted: GA: $39.99 (Amazon pre-order lock, so no $49.99 for me!)
Rayman Origins: $39.99 (I think it's worth $39.99, and I never bought the console version)
Super Stardust Delta: $9.99 (I'm pretty sure it won't be priced over $15)
Escape Plan: $9.99 (ditto)
Hori Screen Protector: $6.99
Vita case: $19.99 (although I saw a nice cheap one for $6.99; I don't need a big case, because I already have a bag I carry my stuff around it. It's mostly to protect the front and back screen from scratches)
Corpse Party: $19.99
Gladiatory Begins: $9.99

Total: $456.91

I had budgeted to spend about $500-$530 on my Vita, so I still have $70 left over to spend. On what, I have no idea. Any suggestions? I'm leaning towards Wipeout and Shinobido 2, but I'm hoping for Gravity Daze to make a surprise appearance around launch. I could easily hold onto the $70 and wait the two weeks for Unit 13 and Gravity Daze to release in March.

Very nice set. I have about a 500 dollar budget to spend on the Vita. I wanna buy more games but these damn Persona Soundtracks are just calling my name. Have fun with your Vita!

I wouldn't expect anything under MSRP (even years after release...), so physical copies will probably be the go-to versions of the game. Wipeout is still $10 under MSRP on Amazon since Sony increased the price.

And it looks like they aren't doing anything for PSP games outside Japan. SCEA/SCEE have never said anything about it.

Ok, I'm definitely back in. As part of my new 1 console in, 1 console out policy, I'm getting rid of my PS3 and slotting in the Vita. It will satisfy any need I might have for Sony franchises, and I wasn't using the PS3 anyway.

Sooo I just realized I bought Fate/EXTRA and Corpse Party like a week ago.

Do I have to pay for it again when I get my Vita?

Is there somewhere I can view the prices of Vita PSP games online?

PSN games will be playable on your vita.

And no, you need to use mediago to look up prices. :(

I'm on the fence still. Just sold my Wii and 360 this week. Not sure if I will actually play the vita all that much is the only thing holding me back.

Wow, you're missing some crazy stuff in 2012.

I'm hoping eventually SCEA will start including 1 PSN Vita game every month with PS Plus membership. That or just give us discounts on games. I don't think they ever really gave discounts on PSP games for Plus members.

Did you buy the games on PSN or UMD? if you bought them on PSN than they will work fine on the Vita.

Ohhh okay. Well I'm obsessive about owning physical media, so yeah I bought UMD Fate/EXTRA. I'm willing to pay for it again though.

The real question is, will I be able to get the game saves I have. Need those desperately lol.

PSP games bought through PSN will work on your vita, no need to rebuy them....

I can see why he was confused though. He said that he bought a psp game on psn and asked if he would have to re-buy it with vita, and all you replied with was "psn games are playable on vita." It didn't really answer his question.

lol yeah I was lost. I'm sure the games are compatible, I would just have been pissed if I had to repurchase them.

Will saves carry over for games already downloaded and played on a PSP?

I'm curious about this as well.

Also, have many of you seen the Vita show up for display in Best Buy yet?
I'd rather go there to see it than GameStop.

Thanks

So I have to pay for them again?! I would condone it, but, I can't even transfer my game saves!

I don't see why not, what I would suggest is hook your PSP up to the PC or PS3 and there should be a copy option.

I know that's what I had to do with my PS one saves to my PSP but you should be able to transfer the saves though I am not sure.

It was asked if he had bought them on PSN or on the PSP, It was mainly waiting for his reply and he did answer. No big deal but it was just needing clarification.

No one has confirmed for sure but from what I recall from one of the post on the JP thread that got closed. It works without a plan

Phone GPS signals work with no plan.

It is a separate network. If a gps app needed to download data it would not work.
If the maps are in the app or can be cached on wi-fi it could work.

Fantastic. Dropped my WiFi/16GB order for the 3G/WiFi bundle.

Edit: Can anyone with a WiFi/3G Vita confirm this though? I'd hate to have to cancel and re-order again. Amazon probably thinks I'm mental :p

Why not just carry a psp with you as well at that point? It's not like your PSP suddenly explodes when the vita is released.

People are too obsessed with backwards compatibility. I'm not buying a $300 piece of hardware to play old psp games. I already have a psp for that.

Just rebuy the handful of psp games that you simply have to have, and deal with it.

What about people like me who want to play Birth by Sleep and Ridge Racer 2 but have no PSP, or don't want to pay $39.99 for DJ Max Portable 3? It'd certainly be a lot cheaper than buying a new PSP.

I'll be playing more games on iOS than Vita, for sure. Doesn't mean I shouldn't get one. Or maybe it does, and I'll sell the Vita in disgust in 6 months. Stay tuned! Haha.

I just don't get why you would, especially at the expense of your PS3. If you're not going to treat it as a portable system, why not just play PS3 games instead? If you're not playing your PS3, why do you think you'll play Vita games suddenly?

As Sartre noted in his contemplation on Hell in No Exit, the true horror is other members.
Anybody else think the post-launch sales in Japan would have been A LOT better if PSVita had launched with something like this available day-one?

I wrote an article about it on Bitmob.

This PSP game backwards compatibility model is just so frustrating to me, I had to create an entire alternate universe in protest.

Who cares, really? A more relevant article would be to talk about a theoretical alternate reality where Sony managed to advertise the Vita properly and create a buzz around the upcoming western release. That's the biggest problem facing the Vita right now.

In marketing, your work gets discounted as inconsequential when there is a success, and highlighted as cause when there is a failure. The latter is usually a lie, the former sometimes true. Successful products can go a long way towards selling themselves. Marketing alone can't do much to get people to buy something that doesn't give them what they want. Even if that does succeed, it just erodes trust in a brand.

Nobody liked UMD, the best thing Sony could do was just drop it. people can still keep their old PSP's to play their UMD games. People would have complained more if the Vita still had a UMD drive.

Not if it was a peripheral. Then people could make their own choice about whether they care or not.

At least Sony sold their games on PSN too.. so it's not like everything has just been cut off.

Goodie! And you have the option to pay for them again too!

I keep all my old hardware, to keep access to my old software.

But if Sony wanted Vita to succeed in Japan without a new Monster Hunter title then maybe they should have made sure folks could at least play the old one on it. Instead, if you want to play the new Monster hunter portable, you buy 3DS. This is a colossal failure.

This is only Sony's second portable. It's a dangerous precedent to support that backwards compatibility is no longer expected. But then again, it's just part of this whole generation's willingness to freely capitulate any sense of ownership of, or access to, anything they pay money for.

gameboy-cubed-simple.jpg

Me, I'd like new and interesting ways to continue to access the content I've already bought. I'd pay money for something like that. Vita? I'd have to get it as a gift.

Maybe people are too obsessed with backwards compatibility. But since people are who you're trying to sell the thing to, it might be easier to serve those concerns, rather than change or ignore them, no?

I don't have to rebuy my PSP catalog. Some of us saw the writing on the wall years ago, and planned ahead. I stopped buying UMDs in like 2009 unless a game was UMD-only.

No idea. You're probably right. Gadget lust, I suppose. It's not about the money, I just don't like having stuff cluttering up my house I'm not using. So I'd been thinking about dumping the PS3 anyway.

I think I might use the Vita more than the PS3 since it's portable, and I could play a game while watching a movie or show. Like I said, you might be right. /shrugs

The sad truth is that people who care about backward compatibility is not nearly widespread as one might hope. Look at the PS3, at first Sony made sure to have all systems be BC with PS2 games, but they discovered that only a small percentage of people even cared, or took advantage of that feature.

I still don't quite know what's happening to the game industry, but people like me are the niche market now. Us gamers rant how we want this, and how we want that, but when it comes to actually rising to the occasion, we're no where to be found. People say they want this game, or they want this feature, but upon release date, they don't get off their asses and buy the damn thing. Too many people pirating, or waiting for a price drop because they figure it'll happen eventually. The problem with this is a price drop is not good for the industry, and the things we like. Rayman Origins going down to $20-30 so fast WAS NOT A GOOD THING. We'll never see another game like it again.

Dude don't give up your PS3 for the Vita.

I gave up my 360 to buy a launch 3DS.

Long story short, I have a 360 again and the 3DS is nowhere to be found

I bought games off of PSN.

...That's fun too, I guess. My friend corrupted me with CFW a long time ago. I mostly just use it for stuff like cwcheats and music while playing the game... lol I should shut up now, since I don't know if discussing a particular thing will be a ban able offense
