Have people started complaining that the game's visual don't look like a 'PS4 title' yet?

No? They will.

....,looks seriously amazing.

Textures look laughably bad in some places and the characters' style has changed somehow, I don't know how to describe it yet, but the screens definitely give me the feeling of a changed character style.

Apart from these aspects I think the screens are not worth mentioning, the trailer conveyed more and I want to see some real gameplay shots...

what? characters are the same as in the trailer - at a different point in the story of course, but nothing changed.

and what do you mean real gameplay shots? these shots are directly from the demo sequence we gave GI.

The image quality isn't representitive of gameplay.

Looks like Ellen, but she's voiced and mocaped by Ashley Johnson

But GAF told me they changed, this wasn't even even debatable.

We've done this before arne :p They mean the supersampled look from the x2 output.

A bit disappointed that the player won't have control of Ellie. I feel like navigating a violent post-apocalypse as the character most out-of-water would be really interesting.

Still, the screenshots look gorgeous. Looking forward to seeing some gameplay footage.

Naughty Dog has really made a bunch of spoiled brats out of us.

Unrelated thought: I'm sure this could have easily been pushed back a year or so and been made into their PS4 franchise. I'm so happy it's coming out on PS3. It's great to see such a talented developer able to break their one franchise per generation habit.

Sony is finishing this generation strong.

I don't think she is "out of water" though. From the dialogue in the trailer it seems the post apocalypse is the only life she remembers.

Oh yeah, I guess you're right. Still, I think placing it from her perspective would have been awesome. Ah well.

Hm... yeah. All I see here is a forehead and chin. IS there supposed to be more face here or something? I'm pretty sure Ellie has a face.

Ok, I said the give me the feeling. Just my opinion, doesn't really matter.

Lol. What could I possibly mean?

Fair enough that the aliasing isn't representative, but you're telling me can't imagine some aliasing? I'm sure you can draw some in on MS paint :p

Colors, textures, models, lighting, shadows, that's all exactly representative.

It's not like we give GI 234098 by 123098 pixel screens or paintovers or CG renders. You're kidding yourself if anybody else doesn't give them PC resolutions or supersampled images either. Or at least wants to, if they can't for some reason. It's just sounding more like a tired argument these days to belittle the any game's asset release. What's the point?

I would see your point if we released some CG images as gameplay shots and the final product differed radically. A certain football game and off-road rally game both come to mind of perfect examples of what we don't do.

I'm tempted to do a comparison of a 1x and 2x screenshot for you when the game is close to the end of development from our kits just to prove a point.

Game looks rad, one more preview and I'll officially go on my blackout. Hopefully they don't show everything before its released ala U2/3.

Hey, I'm not the one complaining, after U1/2/3 I figured people already have an idea what the game will end up looking like, which is fucking amazing, but this is GAF so...

I remember that you once compared 1x and 2x sampled screenshots of Uncharted 2 to showcase the difference.

AFAIK R* always releases direct feed 1280x720. Yea, but other than than Rockstar, everybody releases bullshots.

Supersampled just like the TLoU shoots.

The graphics look fine to me.

I'm more concerned about everything else, particularly the gameplay. I haven't seen any indication of anything remotely original, and judging from the Uncharted games, the execution will be competent, not astounding. It seems like literally everything this game is bringing to the table has been done before multiple times.

I'm not one that insists every game has to be groundbreaking and innovative. There's room for old concepts to be given a new coat of paint and done well. But if those old concepts have already been done well, again and again, I have trouble seeing why I should get excited.

As a matter of fact, you haven't seen any game play at all.

Sounds like most of the precanned argumentative dribble that has found a cozy home in ND threads. I'm willing to bet you wrote this before even entering the thread

Wow, great screenshots. The first one is totally amazing. :O It's going to be nice to see this game in motion. I anxiously await the first in-game video of this.

Have you seen the July 2009 GI? ;)
I didn't, no. I'm mainly talking about studio policy. GTA IV, RDR and now MP3 shots were all direct feed. You can clearly see aliasing, and resolution was confirmed by B3D.

Though I got to say that I don't see anything wrong with releasing jaggie less screens.

Once again, no gameplay.

Still useless.

Screenshots can never show off gameplay though. You could have a shot with a hud, but that still gives a person about zero indication of what it would play like. One would have to see a video...

Um... being second best in the genre is far from merely competent, especially when the TPS genre is so large. Of course, being bested by an openworld game is kinda bad, but not so bad when they are your sibling developers (SP)... Of course, personal opinions and all that jazz.

Interesting...

I'm not saying it will be good or bad. I mean, I can tell you what GTA V or the next CoD will play like simply because they are sequels. When dealing with new IPs, you really have to see it in motion before you can describe the gameplay. Hell, even reading an article isn't good enough.

My wish list for this game:

More open than UC, with hidden pathways, multiple routes.
Can pick up and use lots of objects for combat.
Real time combat, not QTEs.
Difficult, painful decisions.
Set pieces based around story, not other way around.
No characters that look Asian when they shouldn't because ND outsourced cutscenes.

Nice cinematic screenshots that only get people hyped up and don't really show anything

actually, all those screenshots camera view is similar to Uncharted actual gameplay shots and not necessarily 'staged' or composed for cinematic screenshots..

- the camera won't be locked behind main character's back like some tps (Gears/RE) so the second screenshot is easily actual gameplay shots

- Uncharted have dedicated button to let camera switch to over the shoulder to better look around, so the first screenshot is probably something similar.

- melee in Uncharted 3 always switch to dramatic camera angle so thie third screenshots being actual gameplay is also very believable.

No, it was sarcasm. I mean, who can expect gameplay information from 3 screenshots.

I like the way it looks, certainly doesn't seem to live up to that trailer, but still nice, yeah some things like the truck look real rough, but it's still early, they could have built assets to impress, I'd rather it be representative of what they have running at the moment. Not that it matters really, if there's anything I trust of ND, it's their ability to deliver visually, my concerns will hopefully be addressed when we see the gameplay, till then, I'm happy, looks cool.

Not impressed by the graphics. Not really liking the direction it's heading in too.

Still, i'll see what they show at E3.

If someone said that the first picture was a flash forward from Uncharted 3, I'd believe them. That said, being like uncharted is hardly a bad thing.

Wow, I just noticed that truck. Damn, maybe Naughty Dog should pay attention to something other than the character models, because that is one shitty truck.

And you sound like an apologist who would white knight on behalf of Naughty Dog regardless of my criticism. You haven't seen any gameplay either, remember?

My criticism is based off of the sparse details available to us. The fact that nothing interesting has been revealed about the game so far is pretty telling, in my opinion. Sure, maybe there's some big amazing thing Naughty Dog/Game Informer haven't bothered revealing yet, but if so, that'd be a pretty unusual tactic. Most game creators want to gush about their game's most prominent features.
