Contestants for Calypso’s Twisted Metal tournament are selected from all over the world to compete for the ultimate prize: Survival. Behind the wheel of the most twisted vehicles imaginable, contestants battle to the death until one, lone victor remains standing. The champion gets one wish granted by Calypso.
But there’s a twist.
This year, instead of offering the champion money, power or fame, rumor has it that Calypso is able to offer more…so much more. However, as contestants step up to prove themselves worthy of the Twisted Metal championship, a mysterious figure is tracking Calypso and preparing to strike back — someone who knows the truth behind where and how Calypso is getting his amazing prizes.

Deathmatch :
In Death Match, time is not on your side. The first player to score the set amount of points — or the player with the highest score — after a set amount of minutes is the winner of the round. Play for one minute or 90. The game host can set the number of rounds. The only end is death.

->Blackrock Stadium
blackrock_stadium.jpg

This is where death comes to play. The crowd at Black Rock Stadium screams for extreme head-to-head combat and ultimate destruction as they watch cars slaughter each other in Calypso's beloved death-sport arena.

->Diablo Pass
diablo_pass.jpg

Speed through the desert outside of Las Vegas with a dry sense of humor. Winding roads, canyon-side cliffs and steep hills make up the death-defying Devil’s Canyon.

->Diesel City
diesel_city.jpg

The City isn’t what it used to be. The shady streets and run-down highways reek of mischief and corruption, ready for a massacre to explode at any moment.

->LA Skyline
la_skyline.jpg

Ascend to a modern battle arena atop Los Angeles’ tallest skyscrapers. Witness opponents fall to their death from the dangerous rooftops of the LA Skyline.

->Metro Square
metro_square.jpg

Metro Square is the metropolitan heart for big-city action and annihilation. Bright lights become spotlights for high-speed violence and urban destruction.

->Adventure Park
1283865886.jpg

In for a wicked ride? Big Time Adventure is no ordinary theme park, but a sadistic playland operated on twisted amusement.

->Sunsprings, CA
sunsprings,_ca.jpg

The suburbs aren’t quiet anymore. In a classic warfare between two rival high schools, no one stands a chance. Demolish all the neighborhood buildings and houses that stand in your way.

->Watkyn's Harbor
watkyns_harbor.jpg

Enter the industrial zone of east Los Angeles at your own risk. Harbor City is the city’s grimy oil center — lined with underground canals and smoky pathways.

Guide for skin creation Tool
Speaking of SKIN CREATION TOOL, just posted this over on the TM GAMESPOT forums, seemed relevant:

Twisted Metal's Skin Creation Tool works two ways:

1- EASY WAY: go to our website and use the site tool which lets you:

a- pick 1 of the game's 17 vehicles

b- select a base color

c- put stickers and decals on top of the base color or upload your own images (yes, multiple).

d- use the top down, unwrapped skin texture to slide your images around on the car OR let the tool help you by guiding you to areas of the vehicle (side panels; top of car; hood;etc.) to customize.

e- As you customize, there is a low poly version of the in game model (needs to be low poly so it runs fast in browser) that is updated in real time so you can see the effect your customizing has on the vehicle itself.

This option is for fast creation and folks who want to express themselves but have no paint program and/or artistic skills.

2- HARD WAY: download the unrapped skin texture file to your paint program and do whatever you want. I am pretty sure you can ever remove the grunge layer from the vehicle (not sure if that stayed in or not, but last I checked it was in).

When you are done (with either option) upload it to the site, name it, and let the world see it. You can- from there- pubish it to your PSN account and it's waiting for you in the CUSTOM PAINT SHOP when you load up the game next (assuming it's connected to PSN). Others can download your skins or you can password protect them so only you can use them or just you and your friends/clan can use the skins you've made.

Something to note: Every vehicle is NOT created equal. Because we have so many unique vehicles and drivers and gunners, memory was at a premium in the game and so SOME vehicles share texture locations. For example, some of the cars share the same texture on left and right side door panel, while others had the memory to have a totally unique texture on each door. So there will need to be some noodling and playing around to get it looking perfect. The idea is hard core artists will be excited to spend lots of time making super cool stuff that the community will take into the game to show off and the less ambitious can use the web tool to get logos and images on their vehicle super fast and they'll be able to express themselves but just not as well. Very cool tool but pretty 'garage band' in terms of feature set. It's very powerful and neat but don't go in expecting LITTLE BIG PLANET or MODNATION level of polish and finish cause that ain't this. BUT you WILL be able to do pretty much whatever the hell you want with this thing (baring the memory issues I spoke of!

Nice. I've been whining for a new Twisted Metal since the start of this gen, so I'm looking forward to playing this. I'm not sure if I'll day-one it since I just dropped a ton of cash on a Vita + games, but it's tempting.

Well done my friend, well done.

One quick note though, it's "Death Warrant" not Death Warren and Spectre is now Kamikaze.

Cheers! :)

I bought the original Twisted Metal on PS1 day one, and will do the same with this one. I've loved every bit I've played of it so far.

Blackrock Stadium and Adventure Park look like the best levels. Sunsprings, CA is incredibly boring to me.

Whoa, you an change targets with L3? Didn't even know.

Nice OP, I thought I saw a good suggestion for the OP in the demo impressions thread, I'll have to see if I could track it down when I get out of work.

Can't wait for this to come out!

Exact same boat as I'm in. Have a Vita, accessories, and 4 games paid off. Plus after playing the demo, just not sure it's something that I would day 1. Who knows though, I'll probably talk myself into it anyways.

And then he left.

Such fond memories of playing TM1 as a kid. But I don't anything quite captures that first momment of Mario Kart vehicle combat. TM was awesome at the time, but even the latest MK don't feel as great as SNES MK versus when it first came out.

Okay, so I've been meaning to ask.

From the looks of things, it seems this Twisted Metal is going for a gangland theme?
Sweet Tooth and his goons, Dollface and hers, so on

It doesn't seem to be individually-focused any longer. If I'm getting this wrong, someone please correct me because I'm not a fan of this idea.

Nice OT! Can't wait for my advance copy to arrive so that I can try out single player, check out the remaining maps/vehicles, and see how the custom skin creation works.

Multiplayer is only versus? There's no co-operative campaign split screen or online multiplayer?

Custom skin creation is done on your computer in photoshop.

Bring it on!

Wait, where is the campain/story mode? Game modes only list multiplayer game types...

This game has a single player like every TM before it...right?

Yes, but I think there is only one singular story.

Never played a TM game before, but I think each character had their own story, like a fighting game, right?

I think you forgot about the Preacher under the characters section. As far as titles go:

Twisted Metal |OT| Your Wish is Granted

Suggest a good thread title guys <_<

Leave it like it is right now, no clever pun or anything, it looks so classy, that's why I entered the thread.

If it was something like Twisted Metal |OT| HURRR METAL FAST CARS KILL EVERYONE or something like that, it loses it's charm.

Are any of the old charecters going to be playable aside from Grimm and Sweet Tooth? Like what happened to twister, axel, outlaw, etc. (not the car names the actual charecters). Also is this a reboot or are the old games still canon?

Yeah I know that part, I want to see what the process for actually uploading them and getting them in-game is. I need to know if it's restricted to those who already own the game. I'd like to run a contest and give away a copy of the game, but don't know if I can do one based around creating a GAF skin or something along those lines.

Good. I don't care if the story mode is worse than the old games. I just want a guided experience that takes me through all the stages and then shows me an ending with credits rolling. That's how I grew up on TM and as someone who doesn't play online games that's what I still want.

And yeah, the old games had a CG intro for each character, then you played a bunch of stages and then there was an ending for the character. Basically like Tekken. It was really cool for the time.

There will be only three (or four) playable characters in the campaign - Needles Kane, Dollface, Mr. Grimm, and (possibly) Preacher - but each can use any vehicle. Each character will have three endings, depending on the difficulty.

I'm pretty sure Jaffe said that the custom skin site will go up on the 11th and we'd be able to get a taste of it.

I equally want this game to successful due to it being a good idea that hasn't been done a lot recently and that Jaffe worked on it.
