After 6+ years in WoW, I couldn't care less about another WoW content update/refresh.

But after only 20 minutes worth of playing Diablo 3, I'm soooooooooooo ready for it.

The no Heart of the Swarm is disappointing but not unexpected given that Blizzard said their own tournaments for 2012 are going to be using Wings of Liberty; the e-sports organizers in Blizzard probably got the heads up that Heart of the Swarm wasn't going to be ready until at the very least late 2012. ;_;

Folks have been bracing for this news since the leaked 'product slate' let the cat out of the bag on Titan. I don't remember seeing a lot of optimism over the past 12 months that we'd see Heart of the Swarm before 2013, Blizzcon teaser vid notwithstanding.

I hope Battle.net gets the update that players are craving sooner rather than later. Holding out until the possible 2013 release of HoTS is going to be way too long.

This company needs a swift kick to the balls. They were aiming for a year between expansions, and even though everyone knew that was wildly optimistic, 3 years between the game and the expansion is just mind-bogglingly stupid.

I'm still holding out hope for a 2012 release.

Hire some more people already, there's no reason this should be taking this long.

The problem isn't staff. Balancing a game like SC2 is fucking hard and they won't release it until they feel the MP is in a pretty decent state. It looks like they are making some big changes to the MP which requires a ton of balance testing.

Edit: The fact that they are trying to nurture SC2 as an esport is probably making them be even more careful.

Not really surprised that HoTS is not coming until later this year/early next year. They basically spelled that out when they announced that their esports league tour that runs this entire year with the finals at the end was going to be Wings of Liberty only.

I wonder though if it's actually development problems that are holding the xpac back or did all the major leagues worldwide asked blizz not to release it in the middle of their tournament season and hold out until the off season...

I mean 2.5/3 years to make 20 campaign missions for one race... come on, not even blizz is that slow/incompetent.

I'm 100% sure that the problem isn't above.

If any it should be balance issues that they need sorting so they dont create a unit that destroyes the eSport scene.

And it might bring things to Battle.net 2.0 so it becomes 3.0? We don't know!

Which is probably why it took them 10 years to release SC2 in the first place.

I'm actually really excited for Blizzard Dota. Everything I've read on it sounds cool and fresh for the genre. They are removing some key components of the genre but adding some brand new stuff that will totally change how you play.

3. HotS if the campaign is good

I love when people think hiring more staff will resolve any issue. I see this written all the time in WoW forums when patches and expansions takes too long to release or when people whine they still dont have new character models or have reused armor/weapon models.

They already have thousands of employees working everyday, adding more wont change anything.
