i think next gen just needs to make an iphone/android app that can interface with your home console through bluetooth/wifi... everyone and their mom has a smartphone and it would be nice to just interface your phone with any game without having to invest in $100 controllers

Sounds really expensive to have a fancy new kinect and an hd screen in the controller on top of the rest of the hardware. Plus I thought the key to success in the hardware market was differentiation between the competition not synergy. Maybe we really are headed towards a one console future as far as function and UI are concerned.

The hardcore and the "dudebros" are the ones that actually buy the software on a regular basis.

Casuals are the ones happy to buy a wii and play kinect sports for 5 years and just use it to watch Netflix in 480i on their 1080p Walmart Sanyo TVs.

I truly hope microsofts new model isn't to exclusively cater to that crowd.

May or may not have a controller with an HD screen. Honestly the idea of The Next Xbox having a traditional controller just like the Xbox 360 gamerpad should of been thrown out a year ago when the Kinect became so successful. It was going to be either this, a two-part controller (like Wii), or something else that would help build upon the Kinect.

Kinect is more than a camera sensor. It uses a lot of proprietary Microsoft software to make all the motion gaming and voice command action happen.

...?But anything with a camera and screen can do augmented reality stuff. Lots of smartphone apps take advantage of it, Nintendo does it on the 3DS. If the Xbox controller has a screen on it then it will also make use of AR stuff.
