Frankie already said Reach 1.0 will not be eliminated, so our reactions will be as good as his word. But aside from that, I find it surprising that someone who does testing for a living would be complicit in the expansion of an already buggy release. My opposition to TU in the TS poll has nothing to do with the end result, it's a principled rejection of what I reason to be subpar design.

Subpar design

or

The only good thing to happen Reach in a while.

"I am your shield, I am your sword". Surely you have heard this before?

I am a big fan of Levi's work in general, but I'm not 100% on the menu designs - I find the glowing text to be a bit blurry. I would personally prefer something crisper, for example the background fading out more to the left side so the text doesn't have to be highlighted as much.

Still, I love seeing some constructive Halo 4 suggestions with a good amount of thought and a sprinkling of love put into them. Makes a nice change from "Fuck this" "Fuck that".

Fuck you.

Yep, Anchor 9 is definitely fun, even with the shield door/gravity perimeters. I'm curious how MLG would change it for the better as they did with The Pit. The default version of The Pit had terrible base setups and the god-awful ceiling spawns. Hilarious playing Oddball there. -_-

There was a test version shortly after the map came out and it had space included (no shield doors), they put a walkway from the front entrance to the second floor of each base to that window in the middle structure that's right next to space. Map included snipers, rockets, and OS.

Is nothing still known about this helmet? I wonder if 343 will ever speak about it.

Also, dat helmet concept art:

Wouldn't have minded seeing the one on the far right make it into the game.

I must have missed. Care to share? Or was it just acknowledgement of its existence?
I think the context may have been weird, irc it was when someone asked about new elite armor. They said something along the lines of "we had it planned for the TU but didn't make the final cut"

Too bad we couldn't get more specifics.. They should put that helmet into Halo 4 for kicks.

I really like the bottom right helmet.

Thinks the Evil Empire is just misunderstood.

We were prototyping and experimenting with adding new armor variants as part of the Anniversary release. Unfortunately, that feature was cut due to time/resource constraints. The Spartan plushies on the Anniversary Maps are an acknowledgement of that via easter egg.

I almost wanna see Halo 4 character and weapon concept art as much as actual gameplay. I loved how much of that Bungie showed off from Reach leading up to release.

So when is the supposed "new" armory stuff suppose to go live?

Wait a second?! I won't unlock the helmet, if I punch all spartan plushies?! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Lesson learned for Halo 4 I suppose :p

Any chance of seeing anything of what was made coming at a later date? Or should I not get my hopes up?

So, you guys may have covered this, what's the future of theater and stuff?

HaloTV

And advanced spectator mode that allows players to watch LIVE games as they happen either on XBL or LAN. Spectators are given a wide array of controls to keep up with the game. They can easily switch between each player's POV and can get stats LIVE as they're happening. Including but not limited to: Kills, deaths, hit %, assists and objective stats. Also, HaloTV will assist in the viewing experience. Any significant and exciting plays will be alerted to the spectator and with the hit of a button, they're viewing it instantly. Any double kills and potential multikills going to happen? You won't miss it! A player is about to pull a flag and capture? Watch it now!

Where is that from?

Also, sounds like "Live TV" from back when XBL just started. You used to be able to watch the "better" players as they played and even watch old episodes. Sadly it was cut almost instantly after launch.

Hmmm. Yes.

By that standard Reach was already buggy since Bungie didn't have the good sense to take out Camo loadouts when they had known for a full six months prior to the game's release that there was a bug with it fucking with the entire team's radar. Or how they continually allowed BTB maps with the Revenant to be put into matchmaking. Hell, they allowed Covenant vehicles on Forge World maps at all, which shouldn't happen in a game where they'll randomly fly half a mile into the air.

The health pack bug sucks, but you're latching onto one bug in a game that's full of them.

Halo 2 must have been damn near unplayable for you bro.

After 3 and Reach, Halo 2 was pretty much a bug infested shitfest, but that's more a symptom of it's tragic development than Bungie's skill. Halo 2 changed Bungie from being naive about online to knowing that their online was 99% infested by assholes in Halo 3 and Reach. For the short amount of time they were available, Tombstone and Desolation were basically little chunks of the Halo 3/Reach era map and glitch lockdown backported to 2. It's unfortunate that they could never patch the DLC maps. People spent more time playing to the glitches in Halo 2 than playing Halo 2. 3 and Reach are/were great because people stay on the damn map and just play.

I don't really miss having to go searching for bomb carriers in the skybox of Headlong or blowing up the opposing Hog on Burial Mounds so that they can't launch their bomb carrier up into the cliffs. I don't miss having to put someone on Elite patrol duty looking for elites standing behind a wall or rock meleeing because another team was doing the dummy glitch. I don't miss having to tell a team to stand as a solid wall in front of the grav lift to prevent dummy glitches from lifting up into the Coag bases and stealing the flag. I don't miss spawning on Relic and having 500 tank shells per minute crammed up my ass because I didn't want to participate in the .map patching arms race.

The only modder I remain impressed with was the one that got their modded Headlong to work online. That one took actual skill instead of downloading a .ppf and ftping their .map onto their Xbox and essential script kiddying their way to a 50. Shit, Hired Gun couldn't even be bothered to fix the map escapes for Halo 2 Vista. That's how barebones that port was.

Although I kind of admit it was pretty funny to drive your Wraith back and forth over the ground in front of your base on Waterworks to push the invisible dummy glitcher away from it, because you destroyed the obviously dummied warthog in front of it. And that the Wraith driver's #1 job on Waterworks was to get the boxes into the doors.

Any chance we can ever see some of the cut art/assets? I love behind the scenes materials, its always cool to see "what-ifs". While we are at it, I would love to see all of the anniversary MP map concept art.

Just played more of the the MassEffect 3 Demo and I felt like I was on a planet getting destroyed and with billions of people dying than I did at any moment in Halo: Reach.

Really hope Halo 4 can pull off something like what I played in that demo.

The only times I felt like the planet was under siege was during New Alexandria and the Pillar of Autumn. Even while in space, it didn't feel like an invasion.

"downloading a .ppf and ftping their .map" needs to be a new euphemism for something.

New Alexandria was good but that was the only time you felt like you where being invaded. Mass Effect 3 in the first 10 minutes felt like a massive invasion and you felt like there was just no hope. Never felt that with Reach.

Really? Did we play a different demo? You know I could count the humans in this so-called city with a million population. The level Exodus did much better in that case.
