At the end of the day on release I had 29 people in my area that had been playing. I've got like 5 or 6 people nearby playing a bunch of import games. It's entirely antecdotal but it's cool to see.

Obviously too early to say that sales are going to be massive or anything, but there are clearly a lot of people who were interested in the FEB.

I really hope that sales take off. I buy all the hanhelds, DS, PSP, and 3DS, but I wind up not playing tem a lot, I think mostly due to the graphics and controls not being as good as consoles. I can totally see the Vita being my most played system. The screen is so good, and the twins sticks are great.

Let me show you through these halls, my friend, where treasures of indie gaming await...
If anyone's looking for an alternative place to buy US PSN cards that accepts PayPal, I can recommend www.GameCards.eu - I've been using them for a few years without any problems.

Thanks for the hint, but the 50$ card would cost €46.77 on their site. Which doesnt make any sense and isnt really any cheaper.

Totally blown away by Wipeout. Honestly, with the load times issue, I was feeling pretty lukewarm about it. Now that I've sat down and played the game I'm having an absolutely blast with it. I appreciate that every event is just one race making it easier to focus on doing well for each event.

I'm finding the track design to be highly appealing and the action to be incredible. I didn't have this much fun with Wipeout HD, for some reason, despite its superior technical performance. This is just really damn good.

The load times aren't that bad with the new patch either. It's a great game.

How do I transfer PSP DD games from my PC to the Vita?
I have the saved games. but I can't seem to move the games themselves.

They're not very good either, though. Still, it's not bothering me as much as I had expected simply because they ONLY occur when loading a race. Loading times become more bothersome when they pop up constantly (between menus, for instance) but all menu navigation here is fast and fluid with no pauses. The fact that the game jumps from the race back to the menu without any loading is also great.

I actually played Wipeout with my 6 month old son on my lap watching yesterday. He was totally mesmerized by the colors and action.

If Target is a mess and I can't get Lumines, HSG, and Uncharted, I think I will just go digital with HSG and Lumines and find Uncharted later on sale. I already ordered Rayman. I will try to get a 16 or 32GB card from Toys R Us and use the $20 credit on a case. Which one is the favorite? I am leaning towards the soft, Sony case that holds the Vita, cards, and cables. Any impressions on this case or others.

Sheesh! If I hadn't checked the username and avatar, I would have wondered when I wrote this post! That pretty much sums up exactly where I'm at.

Can the rear touch be disabled in most games? I have a feeling it's going to drive me nuts trying to not touch it while holding the system.

you can play any retail vita game from any region for your Vita, but keep in mind, dlc and online pass are region restricted. so if you buy PAL games and play it on your US account Vita, then you won't be able to use any online pass of dlc if the game has any.

Would it really work like that? You can erase player data and earn trophies on another account, as long as you are using physical copy. You are telling me DLC and Online Pass follows the same restrictions as retail games i.e. will not work with account other than the one you used to buy the content?

I LOVE gadgets, I LOVE gaming, I imported a PSP at launch from Japan, so why oh why cant I get excited about Vita at all? :/

Maybe its because Sony underwhelm me in general (PS3 does little for me I have to admit) or maybe its the fact that in the years since the PSP came out Ive grown out of handheld gaming??

Whatever it is, its just not doing it for me when everything suggests that it should. Even youtube unboxing vids didnt get the old nerd juices flowing. Maybe I need to actually hold one and play one?

Heck I even went on ShopTo and hovered over the wifi model knowing that i could quite easily afford it and...........still nothing!

Am I unwell? :/

This is one device I couldn't imagine being underwhelmed by. It's a striking design with a brilliant screen and a lot of power under the hood. Completely delivers.

So does the Vita play PS1 games yet?

My theory - Not until E3. :/

Hit nearest store having one and try for yourself. That is how I lost my hype for 3DS - I discovered 3D effect is very subtle.

Just checked out that site problem is it will cost me $24.95 to get a $20.00 gift card from the US.. So not really worth it with that exchange rate.

Really? It said 147 people were playing games near me last night...
I believe the people nearby is cumulative. My number has steadily increased from 3 to 10 to 15 to 29. I think anytime someone's vita pings near within whatever the parameters of the radius are set, For me it 4 and 8 km, then it permanently geocodes them to that location. So instead of it being 29 people are playing right NOW near me it's 29 different people have played near me at some point.

It also has a time and date on each users name if you click them to show you when they were last pinged in your area

It actually hasn't bothered me in a single game so far. Hot Shots golf has the option to use it, but I think it deactivates when you have more than one finger on the screen or something? I don't know how it works, but it's the least intrusive feature on the Vita so far.

The only time it messed up a game for me was in Super Stardust when I accidentally started a blackhole. Haven't had an issue wit it otherwise.

Sony please fix already downloaded PSP games to Vita. It sucks that I have to re-download a PSP game in order to play it on Vita.. Can't believe there is no way to direct transfer.

Where did you see the code you redeemed? I didn't see any code in my box

Yeah, I'm curious as well since I didn't have a code either.

From Gamefaq
Step 1: sign up and pay for your first month with AT&T (can be any of their Vita plans)

Step 2: go back into the Connect to AT&T application

Step 3: Log in to your account

Step 4: Click on My Devices and Plans

Step 5: Click on your device

Step 6: Scroll down and click on Add a Plan

Step 7: You'll see a button that says you have a coupon, click on it

Step 8: click on the PSVITA coupon and follow the prompts, this will give you one free 250mb session when your first paid session ends

Both your paid month and free month can be claimed at the same time. The free month doesn't kick in until your paid month is over. So no real reason to wait to redeem.

Anyone know what the shipment amount is? I plan to get one next week, but I don't know if this is going to be a PS3-like situation where they only shipped 400k across the country and I can't order one off Amazon.

God damnit Sony, why is it so hard to port over an emulator.

It may have something to do with getting new Vita games the most attention at retail right now. If I could download favorite PS1/PS2 games right now onto a Vita, I would not buy more than one Vita game, if that.

I said that (among other probably) and this is how it works, it remembers others being in the same location at some point in time. It works exactly as you described aka way better than Streetpass.

Man, I love having access to my old games (and having them run at their best in handheld form for that matter), but unless the system really does die a premature death I want it just as much, if not more, for the software it'll end up getting.

This was the one game I was considering double dipping on to experience with better controls but it's been removed from the psn store.

are you f'ing serious. I could have sworn I just saw it up last week for $19.99. I even wrote it down as a PSP game I wanted to get on Vita

Are you looking at the PSN store through your Vita or through your PS3?

Why not pre-order one so you don't have to worry about it?

He may be like me and be waiting for the Sunday ads to come out to confirm these deals at Target/Best Buy. I can't get anyone on the phone at my local Best Buy to answer my questions and Target thinks the system is coming out on the "26th or something".

Sony's OS designers really are useless:

- you can't backup your saves
- you can't have multiple profiles
- no Android apps, instead Sony wants the Vita OS on their phones, wtf
- no PSX games
- half of the PSP games don't work
- can't see Vita people from PS3 (and vice versa?)
- games playable on both PS3 and PSVITA, give you double trophies, wtf

So, with a lot of Vitas out there now, has anyone tried Corpse Party on one? I just want to make sure that it's supported and everything works, though it really doesn't seem like a game that would have any problems.

So I was reading a few things about the Target sale when browsing through the pages I missed while sleeping (which is a disturbingly high number in this thread, ha). What's the deal? It sounds like there are possibly going to be some odd hangups getting certain titles? Is that true? I really want to grab some combination of Ninja Gaiden, Lumines, Rayman, Virtua Tennis, or BlazBlue.

- Doesn't content manager backup your saves?
- You can, but it resets your settings which is shitty.
- Don't care about Android apps on my uber gaming handheld.
- No PSX games at launch. They're coming though and I wouldn't blame that on the OS designers.
- The majority of digital PSP games seem to work. Many of them are not listed on the Vita store. You need to load them up from a PS3.
- They need to fix this but it isn't a deal breaker.
- I don't see how your last point is even a problem?

The money I'm using to buy it is from a house-flip.

Checks from these things sometimes bounce because people need to pay at a certain time.

I don't want to be $300 in the hole if it turns out the check is no good and am going to wait until the money is actually in to my account before ordering it.

Ergo, wanting to know shipping numbers.

y'all should be ashamed
PS1 titles are tied up because I think they want to make them compatible with PSSuite. Otherwise it'll be a huge mess once PSSuite does come out, as there are a few PS1 games already on that service.

With so many good things being said about the system, it is a bit surprising that more people aren't noticing and commenting on these points. I worry that once the euphoria wears off, there will be even more problems exposed. This can be said about almost every new system launch, but given how critical Vita is for Sony's success, they really do need to stay on top of things and address these issues in a timely fashion to dispel the bad taste I get when I think of the drawbacks of PSN.

Completely agree, Wipeout is downright amazing. Even though it's not 60 FPS it feels fast as hell. And this is the BEST implimentation of Zone yet, DEM GRAPHIX!!!

The announcement that Wipeout HD and Fury owners will get that DLC for 2048 free in the Spring is just icing on the awesome cake.

I'm positive that most of those will be addressed. Android has been available on phones for years now and there are STILL tons of issues to be worked out.

I was under the impression saves could be backed up on a PC or PS3, though. Perhaps not?

I don't want Android shit (that marketplace is a joke) cluttering up the system BUT I can totally see the appeal and there are definitely some apps I would love to have.

PSX and other PSP games will be added for certain and they will definitely fix the PS3/Vita online issue. I can see PS3 friends online on my Vita, though, and PS3 people can see my Vita (I've received some texts demonstrating that even). The issue is that you can't see what people are playing on PS3 if you are using a Vita just that they are online.

Despite those issues, the OS is extremely fast and responsive (high framerate and all) and many of its features are well designed. It's far and away the best operating system ever to grace a dedicated games console. Are you really surprised it can't fully match up to mature mobile phone platforms? They actually got a lot closer than I expected.

Very true. One of the small touches that really helps the zone is the ship design. In previous Zone modes I believe they would stick you with ugly, chunky looking ships that seemed out of place. Here, you get to stick with the same visual style as the ships used in normal racing and it feels better as a result. They simply LOOK faster.
