Media Create Sales: Week 6, 2012 (Feb 06 - Feb 12)

From the eShop:

Beyond the Labyrinth
Brave Company
Unchained Blades Rexx (also on PSP)
Denpa Ningen no RPG (download)

The only one that should have sold well is Denpa Ningen no RPG though and we don't know how much exactly. Also it's very cheap and looks like DQ.

But they also have a dedicated folder for download RPGs now which is full of VC GB and DSiWare RPGs. Didn't think there would be so many.

3DS has also Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime 3D, even though it's not a proper jRPG, and Inazuma Eleven Go.

Well don't forget they gave the first 500 3g Vita owners a free 100 hour data plan, so it's not like they haven't done deals for that SKU.

Pretty sure it wasn't the first 500. The same article states:

"Amazon is still offering this as the first run limited edition, which includes a pre-paid 3G usage card".

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the free 100 hours was for the first 500k 3G Vita's (Not just first 500), which should mean quite a lot left assuming the Wi-Fi:3G ratio is at least 50:50.

Continuing LovePlus, no freezes or bugs so far. A little disappointed that the special gallery images added back in LovePlus+ are only available if you transfer a save file though. All of the "dream" events have their images in 3D though, making use of them having several layers.

IIRC, the 100 hour prepaid plans were bundled with the first 500k 3G systems sold. Considering that Vita has only sold 566k total so far (3G + WiFi combined), that tells me that there are still a shitload of launch-ready 3G units that Sony and retailers are still stuck with - hence, why we're seeing even more discounting and bundling with the 3G units. Sony's trying to find some way to clear these things.

Well that's what I get for forgetting to put a 'k' on the end of 500.

Still, seems clear that the 3G unit isn't selling very well at all. Which isn't much of a surprise.

Brave Company is not a RPG. It's a simulation game which is meant to resemble the style of a RPG. It's also on iOS (f2p).
Ah, okay, should have checked that. Although SRPG would be close enough, they even list NES Zelda in the download RPG folder. -1, then.

3DS has also Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime 3D, even though it's not a proper jRPG, and Inazuma Eleven Go.
I thought he was asking for new ones, as in new series/IPs. The eShop lists 9 retail RPGs in total. I tried to seed out the new ones, but failed with Brave Company.

I fear there's a problem with Love Plus.
It already has a 31% discount on Amazon. Lolnami hitting again?

WOW at Theatrhythm price on Amazon :lol

Oh, boy. Maybe it's getting bad word of mouth because of the bugs? Or maybe it was just overshipped.

Rumors had its first shipment at 160k. Maybe, it's the bugs the troubling elements now. Well, Wednesday we'll see however, if Konami did it wrong again or not. Or maybe it's better to say we'll see it in the next weeks, not at launch.

Is there any words on when 3DS games will be patchable?

Amazon has it 21% off like with every other game. Why are we bringing this up again.
It is 28% off. But yeah, it isnt that much higher than the usual Amazon discount. I.e Mario Kart 7 and Super Mario 3D Land are 23% off, and these games sell good and steady.

Mmh, just checked its page and... it isn't shipped by Amazon now. Oh, that changes a lot of things XD

Now, talking about something else.
Where's Phantasy Star Portable 3 / Victory / whatever they want to do? Sega has been pretty silent about it for a long time, and it's almost one year after the release of PSP2i, the expansion. I'm wondering what's up with that.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free

After cancellin all their Vita projects they have to get it run on 3DS now , which takes time.

I'm alwasy more convinced One Piece Musou could have even a 500k debut.
In fact, if we look at Comgnet rankings, comparing it with Hokuto no Ken Musou...

[PS3] One Piece Kaizoku Musou - 457pt
[PS3] Hokuto No Ken Musou - 265pt

Probably we'll have the best debut for a OP game ever.

Well, LovePlus is the most expensive 3DS game to date, so the drop may help it.

I've already mentioned that while there are a lot of bugs, only a few occur for first time users (or people starting fresh) and a few of the transfer bugs are down to users and not the game (if you've altered the time or date even once while playing LovePlus/LovePlus+ on the DS, your games number of days will get corrupted).

There are reported to be freezes (I haven't experienced any), and one large bug (which I've fell victim too). Passing 5AM while using Skip Mode or Memory Mode (each mode causes the RTC to skew, and the RTC resets at 5AM) it can prevent the days schedule from resetting, and prevent the "Sleep" command from appearing. I hadn't set the schedule at the time, so after passing 5AM in Skip Mode (I'd woken up early) I decided to just carry on, but became able to use the sleep command.

It's fixable by saving (and exiting to the title) from Real-Time Mode, or passing 5AM while using said Real-Time Mode, which isn't a huge deal.

There's sure to be many put off by bugs, but I have to wonder how many people will go and buy it knowing what they are. I wouldn't be surprised to see people waiting for "New LovePlus+" though.

Anyway, I'm now looking forward to seeing how Harvest Moon does when it releases next week, what with Yuuri and the Witch being revealed as the last wife candidates. I'll be ordering it with Good People Die.

I don't understand how such things are possible when a game not only has been in development for a while, but it has been even delayed probably to solve these problems. Konami really seem to not know how to work properly this days. I've seen some frame rate problems even in the LKS reimagining for Vita, but that was an old video, they should've improved it. I...hope.

About Harvest Moon, Sinobi reported good preorders when they talked about the rocket start for Rune Factory.

And I don't understand even how Square lowballed so much Theatrhythm demand. 8400 Yen now on Amazon. What the hell :lol

Mmh, it seems a fair selection of games to bet on.

Did anyone get Theatrhythm? Any impressions?

P.S. Caved in, cancelled Vita, ordered Zelda 3DS. I'm terrible. :-(

I expect Harvest Moon to debute fairly well, so to have a better performance than the first episode on DS (which LTD is 107k). There, on average, Harvest Moon sold around 160k, with Kimi to Sodatsu Shima over 300k. This for 3DS could top 200k in the long run, imo!

Has it really been two years since the last Harvest Moon? Wow.

Is there really a want for the next one?

Well we'll never know if the delay was down to too many bugs, or whether they just needed to finish a few things. Rune Factory 4 was delayed well over 7 months from its year-end 2011 release, and I doubt that was down to bugs (the 3D-supporting anime movies may've extended the development, but they were announced as nearly complete a couple months ago).

Amazon now says a 2-3 week wait for New LovePlus, so it may've sold out there.

I really hope Harvest Moon does do well; it's back up the 3rd on Amazon now.

Tsutaya have released sale rankings, and while they're not completely comparable to MC (MK7's opening week had MK7 in 2nd, since it's only the sales ranking for Tsutaya) it can give us a good idea of how well a game is doing. Theatrhythm came in first, followed by Binary Domain PS3 and New LovePlus respectively. Good People Die came 15th (3DS) and 20th (Vita). I wonder if Theatrhythm will come first in MC sales too.

Since the data is Media Create, and since the week before this LTD was at 4.931.955, 3DS did at least over 68k, probably 70k this week.

Damn. One less customer on the Vita boat.
If we all go 3DS-only, Nintendo will go monopoly on us. That is bad news if you ask me.

Well it got two relatively big releases this week so it's not really surprising.

And I'll get a Vita when there's more than one or two games I want for it out there (or when Good People Dies is announced for a western release), my 3DS went unused for months...

Yeah, we'll have to relive the pre-DS days. How horrible!

Seriously, Nintendo controlling almost all of the handheld industry wouldn't be good news, but it certainly wouldn't be bad news.

What is FFT's launch context over the week ? 70k first shipment and we know nothing about potential further supplies, right ?
