I think this is new? Eurogamer just posted it up an hour ago.

Longsworth went on to commit Sony's top studios to Vita development. This included Naughty Dog, which isn't making Uncharted: Golden Abyss for Vita - Sony Bend is.

"Absolutely you will [see Naughty Dog on Vita]," confirmed Longsworth. "You'll see a number of games coming out from all of our studios."

I guess they might be expanding a bit more than originally thought.

Update:

We're not working on anything for PS Vita. I won't say never, ever, but there's no plans for it right now - we've always felt that consoles play to our strengths as a studio the best.

Given the brackets (to indicate an implication on the part of the quote) I'm sure this was a misunderstanding to the question that was being posed.

sounds good. I would think they would be pretty important to the Vita, considering they were arguably the best PS3 developer this generation. Hopefully they'll find non-gimmicky ways to utilize the platform. Their contributions will be much appreciated.

Wasn't this from the Keighley interview? The guy didn't exactly sound like he knew what he was talking about.

right now their "inexperience" team as you would probably put it is working on The Last of Us, while who knows what the Uncharted 3 team is working on

no, the experience team is working on the last of us. they are making experiences.

Yeah, that sounds word for word on the Keighly interview where he drops the Call of Duty bomb.

Seems the dude needs some more breaking in.

Would be great if they created a new Vita specific IP and make it a series of three main games and a kart racing game.

Sony has hopefully realized the importance of not letting your handheld be perceived as the kid brother console.

One of the keys to Nintendo's success in this area is that they didn't just give Mario Kart 3DS to Next Level Games and told them to make a go of it, they used the main Mario Kart team that made the other games. Which even if it does not produce radically different experiences, it gives people who are familiar with the series an idea of the baseline quality they can expect from it.

Sony's seemingly always had trouble getting their own perceptions of their handhelds as places just as viable to develop on as their consoles. The first step is showing that they themselves believe this to be the case.

that nice but ..... are are they telling us? oh good PR for Vita its nice carrot but no news of a new game its easy to say they working on somthing

Well, worst case we can see if arne comes and denies it.

Worst case is ND doesn't say anything (because they can't) and this rumored "ND Vita game" gets mentioned for years and years, serving only to annoy the people that know this guy doesn't have a clue. :p

Or they have a third team, but that would be weird. I would assume the Uncharted 3 team moves on to PS4 while the other one is finishing a PS3 game.

Aren't Naughty Dog busy enough as it is? What with one team working on The Last of Us and the other prepping tech for Uncharted 4 on the PS4.

vindicated next year? because I wouldn't assume they'd have much ready to go this calendar year. but hey...who knows.

edit: what I want to know is what is Insomniac planning? something? nothing? because Ratchet is a requirement.

Last time they were asked they said they weren't making anything, and they currently have two games with EA, so I'm not sure they're actually developing games with Sony anymore.

Well so far the Vita games not developed by their console studio:

Modnation Racers: Road Trip - developed by co-developer of PS3 version, and full developer of PSP version. franchise is basically dead, UFG is working on LBP: Karting which will probably be on Vita eventually.

Uncharted: Golden Abyss - developed by Bend. I guess Naughty Dog was busy. Has been in development since shortly after the release of the first Uncharted.

Resistance: Burning Skies - franchise's dead, Insomniac abandoned it.

LittleBigPlanet - developed by studios who did PS3 LBP DLC. Console developer rumored to be doing next game on Vita/PS3.

Killzone - developed by Cambridge. Console developed rumored to be doing next game for PS3/Vita. Cambridge may actually be folded into Guerrilla.

HSG, WipEout, and MotorStorm are all legit.

This is from the gametrailers interview right?

I don't think he knew what he was talking about, he was basically just saying "yeah" to everything.

I'll believe it if/when Guerrilla, ND, Sucker Punch, Polyphony, etc have something to show for Vita.

Polyphony's probably cooking something. SCEJ got them to make a PSP game, and they're going to want to get some more mileage out of those GT5 assets.

PUN INTENDED

I hope this means Insomniac and Sucker punch are on this too although they're third party.

Sony bought Sucker Punch last year. Yoshida actually took a visit last week.

And i'll believe that ND will develop for the Vita when they show something for it. They're one developer that I have a hard time seeing on that platform.

New Naughty Dog kart experience...or hell, an offroad racer featuring the who's who of the Uncharted franchise. Sorta like Motorstorm meets The Cannonball Run.
