I didn't like ME1 much but ME3 feels good man.

Also some quick questions:
1) Do you people have game crashes after MP matches at PC?
2) Do we get to keep our MP characters when we buy the game (PC)?

Hmmm, i see what you did there bioware. :)

Should a 16 year old game be spoilered?

That's reaching so much it's not even funny. All those games are just recycling the classic SF tropes. You can find that same stuff in same doses going back to Lensman, and that was written back when people still lived in caves. Star Control were great games, or 2 was, but let's not pretend they're some sort of fount of original scifi ideas even in games.¨

edit: no need to take my word for it. In Lensman an alien race with psychic (biotic!) powers prepares mankind against an encounter against an enslaving alien species. The top agent of Earth joins Galactic Patrol, an elite organization of space cops...

Oh yeah, the ME3 multiplayer is good too. Surprised!

I thought this was a common knowledge by now? ME1 even had some inspired gameplay mechanics too. (the normandy, galaxy map and traveling in it, research/upgrades, mako, resource sweeping...etc)

Sure, but it's different when devs admit that they were influenced and inspired by another amazing game (which totally wasn't original) There may be thousand Shepards around, but there's only one spaceman shepard, if you know what I mean.

I have a question since I didn't play the SP part of the demo. When I play MP on Xbox I often get a message as a pop up that reads "Are you feeling tired or sore? Take a break". I tried disabling notifications but it still pops up and annoys me. Is this also in the Single Player part of the demo? How can I disable that? Will it be in the retail version of the game?

Thanks

Really? I disagree. While the Collector story of ME2 was weak, its character stories were not only excellent but were trojan horses to flesh out the universe. We got to intimately taste a part of the krogan homeworld culture (and the weight of the genophage with Mordin's loyalty mission), the politics on the quarian fleet and their dealing with the geth while being seen as space gypsies by the rest of the galaxy, and even a bit of asari culture with getting to know their ways a bit better through Samara than we got to know through Liara in ME1.

Yes, the collectors were a weak thread, but the parts that were on that thread in ME2 were meaty, universe-defining parts that give some real impact to what happens in ME3. I wouldn't want the first time I visit the krogan homeworld to be begging for their help with the Reapers. I want to see what it's like from their perspectives, and explore the real depth of the krogan vs. salarian policy on whether or not the genophage should stay intact now that a cure is much more closer to being possible. Now, in ME3, we are armed with perspective that only ME2 could really flesh out when we actually do work these different cultures to help with the Reapers, even if it means having Shepard taking definitive sides in racial conflicts like the pro/anti-genophage argument.

In fact, it's this specific line of reasoning that I'm most looking forward to ME3.
This is exactly how I feel about ME2. While others criticized the main storyline for being weak, I felt the only way to flesh out the universe was for the Reapers to take a backseat. It's an amazing experience as result that I feel differs enough from the original to warrant its existence.

I played the demo, and based on that and past experiences with Bioware games (KOTOR (and KOTOR II, not that it counts), Jade Empire, DA, ME1&2), I feel like I already know exactly where this game is going without reading any spoilers. Fight your way off Earth, go to another mandatory locale, then go around to save/recruit four races in any order you choose (Turian, Krogan, Assari, Silarian), then head back to earth for a final battle against the Reapers. The formulaic nature of Bioware's writing/game structure is really tiring. Hopefully I am proven wrong.

it is like gears of war with dialogue options.  Not saying there is anything wrong with that, but I really miss mass effect 1.  It was true role playing.  Plus I'm not sure if it was my TV but the demo was SO DARK where is the color?

Again man, Mass Effect 1 was as much a shooter as Mass2/3 are. It just wasn't as good.

I've been really enjoying the ME3 demo. I'm on a level 18 Human sentinel.

This is pure fantasy, but I personally would like to see some form of PvP gametypes. I think CTF or some equivalent could be a lot of fun, especially since silver and Gold already require high levels of teamwork.

As far as class/weapon balancing, I'd say leave the classes as-is. The sandbox is deep enough that those things would figure themselves out. People will naturally gravitate towards the strongest classes anyway, even for PvE.

Played the demo and could not help thinking that "wasn't this game series, when originally announced, wowed people with realistic facial expressions and movements when conversing with characters?" Maybe I just got used to its engine, but the cut scenes in the demo just looked like any other games with in-game cut scenes - people move a bit funny, facial expressions are boring and "game-like" at best...what happened?

I really hope ME3's Citadel isn't just 3 non descript mall floors, again. I miss the ME1 Citadel.

Does anyone else find the pre-order DLC scheme really offputting? ME3's release date is still two weeks away, but it's already impossible to get all of the DLC without buying multiple copies of the game. I'd really prefer to decide whether or not I want to buy a game at its release date, or even afterwards.

Welcome to this gen. We hope you enjoy your stay.

Then don't buy multiple copies of the game? I don't see the problem.

I wouldn't even consider buying multiple copies of the game. It just seems absurd to me that you need to either purchase this game several weeks in advance of its ship date or buy multiple copies in order to get all of the optional items.

Or don't get the meaningless useless items you won't care about after an hour of playing the game!

Either that, or hope MS fucks up like they did on ME2, and just download all the preorder items from the marketplace for free.

Just get the normal edition, all the DLC will be available on day one or pretty soon anway, so you can just pick up the things that are useful, like squad mates or extra missions.

Don't worry, it's just Bioware being completely clueless about proper treatment of what they produce. DLC, technology, platform support, animation, writing, marketing, etc.: They are all incredibly flawed in almost all areas. Even disappointing to some (me). It's best just to let it go.

Is the PC getting Hi-Res textures? Because the textures in the demo were awful.

Bioware tweeted something about hi-res textures being "built" into the final release, but who knows what they mean by that. I'd link to it but I'd have to dig through a week's worth of dumb tweets.

Thanks for the reply. Does anyone have a summary of what happens in the DLC the Arrival? I didn't play it.

Thanks for the reply. Does anyone have a summary of what happens in the DLC the Arrival? I didn't play it.

Arrival DLC is basically this:

Admiral Hackett tells Shepard to check out this Reaper thing in batarian space.

Upon finding and rescuing Researcher Derpington from batarians, Shepard learns that Researcher Derpington found a giant Reaper artifact that is basically communicating that Reapers will arrive in TWO DAYS from the moment Shepard rescues Researcher Derpington. Derpington's plan is to smash a giant asteroid (that is also where the base is) into the mass relay that's in batarian space to slow down the Reapers arrival into Citadel space by a few years.

Researcher Derpington derpedly left the Reaper artifact out in the open, so her entire base is indoctrinated. As soon as Shepard arrives, all of Derpington's Derp-minions turn on Shepard and try to stop the asteroid from smashing into the mass relay.

Shepard goes rambo and kills everyone, and then is left with a 'choice' of trying to warn the batarian colonies in the system of the mass relay explosion which will also destroy the system. Shepard cannot get the word out either way, but it doesn't matter because Shepard was knocked unconscious for all but two hours until the arrival of the Reapers.

Shepard stops Researcher Derpington and successfully smashes the asteroid into the mass relay, right before escaping back into citadel space in the Normandy. The Reapers' arrival into citadel space is delayed to be about 2 extra years but Shepard is grounded to Earth and court marshaled between ME2 and ME3 for destroying the mass relay that resulted in a batarian colony getting destroyed.

Apparently it's the biggest version yet. Well, according to devs.

I hope that's actually true. Traveling around the Citadel in ME1 was always a pleasure for me.

The multiplayer is pretty fun when you get a team that isn’t incompetent. A lot of my first few of matches were with people who had no idea how to assassinate targets or hack computers, though generally people were pretty good about revives.

Way more enemy variety than the single player, and the enemies shine a bit more when they aren’t limited by the singleplayer’s level design. I wish they’d given us at least one other map, though.

Also, getting rewards at random when you buy things from shops is so lame. I keep getting machine guns, shotguns, and mods for both, even though I primarily use pistols and sniper rifles.

Running outside of combat in ME has always felt odd.
The running in ME1 was generally pretty meh.

Shep ran out of steam in, like, a few seconds.

I can remember the E3 sitting in Bioware's private hideaway just after they'd done that deal with Pandemic and getting the demo for Mass Effect 1... Their first showing. It was absolutely incredible.

Just played the ME3 demo on my PS3. Can't believe this is the same reality. What happened? It's just... bad.
