RUMOR: Tales of Innocence R coming Stateside?

Legendia was way better than Innocence DS. I have my gripes with it's pacing and area re-use, but the total package was at least solid. Innocence may have had a more interesting premise and maybe overall story (I couldn't finish it), but it also had a ton of shoddy gimmicks that were slapped together half assed like the dungeons and coin collecting. I'm willing to give the remake a chance if it comes out here.

I personally like Legendia better, but in terms of Tales fans in general, Legendia seems way less popular than Innocence.

You must've missed pre-Xillia. People wanted Graces really bad. At least judging from what I saw. After Xillia people want that. Tales fans are.... fickle, I guess...

I'm just talking about current unannounced Tales titles. Most of the interest is in Xillia and Vesperia PS3. It doesn't seem like they're going to bring over the PS3 version of Vesperia, so Xillia should be their next target. At least that'll get them caught up on the mothership titles. Assuming that it doesn't take two years for them to bring it over.

Legendia sort of got more recognition after release, kind of FFXII in a way.

I'm pretty meh on whether or not Innocence comes out here. First, I don't have a Vita, don't plan on buying one, and if I do by chance get one in the future, it'll be a long time from now. Second, I've just never felt any interest toward the game. I mean I love the series, but any piece of footage has never done anything for me. DS or Vita. Just looks so meh.

It's about the only tales other than hearts that I have'nt played (haven't played Xillia actually), so I would appreciate it coming over.

I wouldn't bend over backwards to get reamed with ENTHUSIASM, but I would appreciate it.

Tales of Innocence is a terrible game and Alfa System should feel bad for making it.

I know this is supposed to be a remake of sorts, but I don't think the game can be saved (least of all from Alfa System). Namco would be monumentally dumb if they released this over Xillia. Which is the exact reason why I think this rumor could have some credibility. As for releasing both? I don't know, as an English speaking Tales fan, I'm always nervous that the series is on thin ice and releasing a horrible game could end it all (despite us surviving Phantasia GBA, Legendia [which I personally liked] and Symphonia 2). I'm already feeling sick thinking of how Graces will be accepted over here given how much Westerns tend to favor flashy production over in-depth mechanics.

I like Legendia more than Innocence because Innocence has boring dungeon design.

We all know that the worst Tales game is Tales of the Tempest, right? Tales of VS is down there too.

Yeah. It really sucks because the battle systems in Tales are so great but it doesn't get the chance it deserves. I guess visual fidelity factors into there somewhere.
I've had people tell me that it's outright hard despite there being the chance for them to lower the difficulty. It really isn't that difficult...

But then they say that we don't get the games often so why bother? It's quite irritating.

So... japan gaf. is this game any good? Hated the ds one (even though the fansub was pretty amazingly done), but apparently they changed many things, even though graphics kinda look like butt >.>"

Uhhh from what I saw, it's alright. Then again, with the lack of JRPGs on the Vita, it might be worth it to people.

Please let this be true....as much of a love/hate relationship as I have with the series....more Tales love from Namdai can only be a good thing!

Tales of the Abyss 3DS, Tales of Graces f PS3, and now possibly Tales of Innocence R? Namco, I am liking this. I am liking this a lot. It would be a good idea to launch this somewhat soon after Vita's launch.

Now if they just announce Xillia, I'll be one happy camper.

I don't really know why people are concerned about Xillia, if they're bringing a Wii port over, I think they'll certainly bring the real PS3 one over (not that the difference really shows).

I think you see this mentioned a lot because Namco has specifically said that Xillia coming over is not based on Graces f's sales, but our enthusiasm for the Xillia release. So that's why we always show ENTHUSIASM--because we want it over here. :)

I really think if they were only going to release one, it'd have been Xillia, the fact they still wanted to sell Graces makes me think Xillia will come. And I hope it does, I'm not going to get Graces, but Xillia looks like it'll be the one I bite on personally.

Do you mind telling me why you'd rather have Xillia than Graces? Just wondering.

If they are bringing it over, I expect at least a year wait between announcement and release, unvoiced skits, giant segments of the game outright removed, Gamestop exclusive DLC,, and/or half the game unvoiced.

It is so god damned difficult being an English speaking Tales fan.

I'm not sure the other J-GAF folk will pay this thread a visit, but I've certainly been enjoying my time with it, despite being frustrated as all hell with the DS version.

From what I've heard from the others, they've been enjoying it too. A pleasant surprise to say the least.

In general, I've heard that it's a marked improvement over the original from everybody I know who's played it. I'd play it if I didn't have to spend almost $100 to get it, probably. But eh-

*sigh*. Going to be the PSP all over again. Just like 2 games I want to play, but do not want to spend that much $$$$ to play.

What are the odds of a PS3 port?

Definitely a big improvement. I think they did a poor job of actually advertising just how different the game actually is.

Tales of Innocence for the DS never really felt like a Tales game. R does.

If this comes then wow, all these namco bandai games, swiftly becoming the publisher with the most of my games, next to sony studios, and EA.

P4G, Disgaea 3 R, and this, wouldnt no doubt guarantee me getting a Vita this year.

I still haven't played BBS, and I'm a KH whore. ;/ Maybe I could get a used PSP for 60 bucks when the Vita launches.

Not to continue to derail the thread, but how is this Tales? Better or worse than ToG F?

The original is in the lower tier of Tales releases. And even though I haven't played the remake, I feel like I can safely bet money that it isn't nearly as good as Graces!

Worse. I don't even have to play it to know that, rofl.

For me, Innocence R is close in quality to Vesperia.
But I'm not a Tales maniac, by any means.
These are the only two that have appealed to me beyond the 1-2 hour threshold so far.

Actually, Innocence R appears to be by Seventh Chord, who also worked on the Keroro RPG for the DS. Presumably they'll also be the ones involved with Tempest R and Hearts R if (when?) they're made/announced.

Alfa System doesn't seem to have any significant connection to Innocence R (which would explain why I don't recall them ever being mentioned as the developer) and is working on some other Tales game, if anything.

It has indications of a series progressing, namely the 3D camera. Graces feels like (I've played the demo) it's fifteen years old. That's not a bad thing fundamentally, but I'd just rather support the entry which looks to advance. Artistically I prefer it too, outside of character design anyway.

Man, if Tales games played as good as Graces 15 years ago, that would have been amazing.

I can't believe there's people who like Legendia. The worst Tales game I've ever played, and waaaaay up there in worst RPGS in general for me. I still pat myself on the back for being resolute enough to have slogged through it.

Why do they keep releasing the games no one cares about seeing released? Innocence was poorly received, Abyss is a straight port, and Graces is a full price Wii game. Who's dick do you have to suck to get some Xillia around here?

I wouldn't be surprised to see Tales of the Tempest as their next announcement.

Different strokes for different folks. I loved Legendia! The music is godly. Sadly the 2nd half of the game was unvoiced and just felt rushed. Really stinks. Still its my 2nd favorite Tales. Vesperia being number 1.

Oh. Actually I agree with you on that stance. I've been saying for a long while that if NB really wanted the Tales game to succeed in both sales and reviews then they should've released Xillia instead of Graces. While I'm glad that fans get to experience Graces, I feel like it'll be the death of the series in the west. Prove me wrong people!

I'm sure their thinking is that the Vita's library isn't that big so they'll have a better shot at selling a Vita game to early adopters.

PSPs are pretty cheap now, and I guess they'll be even cheaper in a few years. What I usually do is buy the games which I think'll be in short supply later on if I'm going to get the system later. I did that with Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, Tales of Vesperia, and the 360 version of Deadly Premonition... and I don't have a 360, lol. But at that point, the games were pretty discounted.

Seriously, though. PSP is a heckuva system to have if you love RPGs.

Actually, Innocence R appears to be by Seventh Chord, who also worked on the Keroro RPG for the DS. Presumably they'll also be the ones involved with Tempest R and Hearts R if (when?) they're made/announced.
Huh. Keroro RPG wasn't too bad.

I was considering importing Innocence R, but if it really is coming to NA, I might hold off on it.

Lower Tier, but better than Tempest and VS. I've only played the DS version, though. Not sure how the PSV version holds up.

So?

And man, before Xillia was announced, everybody wanted Graces. Even afterward for a while, since Xillia looked unappealing visually in its infancy.

I guess game quality doesn't actually matter here, though. It's whatever the most recently announced Tales game is that people clamor for. I hope a new Tales is announced soon so you guys can move onto that one and forget all about Xillia.

I thought they still wanted Vesperia PS3?

I guess people just want Team Symphonia games...?

Legendia's like the only Tales game where the story, world, music, and characters captivated me so much that I just had to see it through to the end. The actual gameplay's not that great (though I wouldn't say it's bad either), but the game's overall presentation is top notch and a big step above almost every other game in the series, if you want my opinion.

And Hearts is a DS JRPG with a pretty significant amount of voicework. It already wasn't too viable back in 2008, and it's even worse now.

I just want Tales games in general.

I think people only wanted Xillia over Graces F because they think because Graces F is based on a Wii game, it won't be as good as one made specifically for the PS3 like Xillia.

Hate to say it, but I think that ship has sailed for Vesperia PS3 NA/EU release. Now, Xillia is looking likely, specially since that recent interview. Something about, they know about the fans in those territories that want Tales games and they want to release more in those areas.

Well, I think there are two main groups of people: a) the fickle Tales fans who just want whatever the most recent game is, and b) the people who only want "Team Symphonia" games (i.e. the more graphically impressive latest-console-exclusive ones). Team A will stop caring about Xillia once the next game is announced. Team B will still want Xillia and Vesperia PS3 for a while longer. Too bad team B doesn't seem to realize that Xillia isn't even a "Team Symphonia" game.
