What "screamer" moment or cheap scare in a game got you the worst?

I liked in the Resident Evil 2 demo, where the licker would just fall suddenly from behind you. Terrifying as hell.

Ruined in the final game with a slow moving FMV reveal :/

First thing that came to mind is in Metroid Prime 3 when (minor spoilers)
the body of a GF trooper on the G.F.S. Valhalla that is plastered to a door as you open it (but soon disintegrates). The place was just creepy enough which got me to jump a bit there. As I normally get as close as I can to a door as it loads the next room, it was right it front of me, filling up the viewscreen.

There's a bit in F.E.A.R. where you're walking down this corridor and suddenly a dead body shoots through these glass windows to the left of you. It was just so unexpected.

Zombie arms shooting out and grabbing me in a corridor I'd cleared in Resident Evil 2 got me pretty good.

Another one was in the original Turok when the very first enemy ran at you out from the dense fog. Scared the fuck out of my 10 year old self enough to turn it off..

this - my mom and dad were watching me play, we all freaked out. one of the few times (other is probably System Shock 2) that I've literally screamed because of a game.

yep that one was mean; you enter the room "oh,one-way mirror,i guess something is jumping through it any second when i get close" ,you get close,nothing,you collect the items in the room,nothing,you try to leave to room *BAM* :X

and mr. x through the wall (2 TIMES IN SUCCESSION)

The first time I played the marine in the 1999 version of Aliens vs Predator for PC.
Step off an elevator, switch night vision on/motion tracker off, walk towards a corridor and BAM a facehugger I didn't see attaches it self to my face while my ass got serious hang time jumping over my chair and I screamed like a little girl. No joke.

I knew it was coming. It's was so incredibly obvious I putin-faced when I first walked into the area. But man...I guess it was
the exposition filled video scene
right before it took my mind off it. Anyways, when I turned the corner--without a care in my mind--the scare hit, and my keyboard (which was then resting on my quads) shot up about 3 inches into the air >_<

Shameful man

There is a part in the Ravenholme chapter of HL2 that scared the willies out of me. A head crab zombie jumps out of closet or something. I held down the trigger for the assault rifle long after it died.

The worst part is you get to that locker and your whole body is saying NOPE, and then it opens, because of course you have to open the bloody, rattling locker, and theres nothing there.

Thats how they get you to drop your guard.

Uncharted 2, ice cave moment (you know the one i'm talking about)

Some FPS games also do the "facehugger/headcrab type monster stuck in your face". Blood 2 has a particularly bad one, when you go into water, and it just comes up and fills your screen instantly.

RE: Remake for NGC. This was my very first horror game i've played.


Neary half way through the game I just step out on the balcony in an eerie setting and i hear this damn doberman bark and i backtracked to the foyer and this damn dog jumped through the window and i nearly shat my pants!

I lost all my senses on how to control the character and panically i ran like hell to get away from it and died.

Almost none of FEAR was scary, but they did get me once and it was CHEAP.

There's a part where you are climbing a ladder, which you do over and over all the time, only this time when you get to to top as your eyes crest the floor little girl Alma is looking strait at you an inch away from your face. as if she's laying down right at the top of the ladder.

Freaked me right the fuck out and made me scramble the controls trying to jump off the ladder.

I remember a part like that scaring me with the ladders. When you turn around to go down the ladder, you see Fettel's feet right where you just were.
