I managed to piece together a few more of my old sets this weekend.

This one was an anomaly when I was younger. It looks sort of interesting but the leg structure always struck me as a bit off-putting. I love the blue spaceman and the mini digger thing in the second pic.

This was probably my favorite ship as a kid. I'm missing a couple of pieces, notably the radar dish on one side.
IMG_5879.jpg

Thank goodness for painted pieces. I'd never have remembered I had this if not for the windscreen.

Ah....good old Busted McNoFace. This set needs serious work. Two rocket pieces missing as well as a busted front fork. Not to mention the whole no face thing on the pilot. Are those teeth marks on his head? Probably.

I still have a bunch of space pieces left over so I'm sure there must be a small vehicle or two I haven't built yet. Time to scour the set lists to see if anything jogs my memory.

So the Tantive IV is OOP? Should I hold onto my NIB one? I hate selling stuff online. :/

Completed my Classic LEGO town Fire Station (6382) this weekend. Missing a few pieces including the base plate otherwise it's complete. Next up is the Police station followed by the Cargo centre.

Awesome! I still have that one. All my Lego from when I was a kid are mixed up in one giant bin, though. No instructions. I actually think that might've been my first Lego set.

It went OOP in December. I also hate selling stuff online. I had that UCS Yoda that I posted a couple days ago. I could have made $300-600 by selling it on ebay or something but I opted to just build the lil guy instead :)

Good man! The difference is that I already built a Tantive. It's in my display case.

Found the Jedi Shuttle at Wal-Mart for 50% off. Couldn't say no, especially since it comes with Shaak Ti and Saesee Tin. Got Droid Escape because those Sandtroopers look too bad ass, plus I was sitting on a $10 gift card I got from TRU for getting Resident Evil Revelations there.

Also, the Krusty Krab was $13, thought it would go nice with the Super Hero Spongebob set I picked up earlier.

Lighthouse was $10 off at the same Wal Mart, so why not?

4 more to go for a full set. :D

I've never seen that particular model before. What a strange beast-like behemoth.

That's the first large set I ever got, I must have been about 6 or something and can vividly remember getting it for my birthday and rushing to build it before going to school that day.

Longest day of my life that day, I was so desperate to get home and play with it.

I posted another one of my creations on cuusoo last night, the mech astronaut in my avatar

There's actually 4 in that mech series I made, I'm tempted to submit them all as well as my custom modular

What do you think the dollar value for that kit would be? I really like the Creations people make on the Cuusoo website, the amount of detail people put in to these MOCs are amazing.

WHOA...this is the most impressive Macross VF-1 Valkyrie MOC I've seen to date:

Nice to see Lego likes it too:
Our team is impressed with the design and functionality of your Macross VF-1 Valkyrie model. You have also done an excellent job with the artwork presenting the idea. Our initial concern lies in how stable and playable the model is to a mass audience, however, that is a concern for later in the CUUSOO process when it starts to become clear that this will cross 10,000. For now, keep the ideas and the supporters coming! Best of luck in your journey to 10,000 supporters.

1 million Canadian dollars
Thinking of getting this for modular MOC purposes. Seen it for £10 here in the UK - so 10p a piece, double the per-piece cost of what I paid for the Pet Shop, for instance.

Worth it?

Macross one, just take my money. Probably japan only =(. they should do a cuusoo club where you can get the instructions and lego will produce the pieces instead of making it a product =D

Has anybody done either the large Hogwarts Castle set or the Diagon Alley set? I'm looking to get a large Harry Potter set for my wife for her birthday and I'm not sure which one she'd like better. Currently, the Hogwarts set is $175 on the LEGO website and is about 1300 pieces. It looks pretty nice, but the Diagon Alley set is only $25 more and is just over 2000 pieces, so I'm leaning toward that one because it also looks pretty nice and it seems to be a better value. Also, are there any upcoming specials expected on the LEGO store?

Currently working on the Millennium Falcon. Did step 2 tonight while my wife was out. She helped me with step 1 last night and she confessed that she absolutely loved it! Since she's a big Harry Potter fan, a LEGO set for her seemed like a good gift idea.

Ordered the Tie Fighter and Droid Escape sets. I kept going back and forth between the Tie and the X Wing but I really like the looks of the Tie Fighter so it will be awesome to have on my desk. Only reason I am really getting the Droid set besides a R2 minifigure are the bad ass Stormtroppers.

So lets count...since last Saturday I have purchased four sets of lego. This has to stop

I'd say so. It's hard to get a decent bulk collection of windows anywhere else- they're pretty pricey on Bricklink. Failing that you could look at buying one of the Creator houses, they come with the roof slopes you'd need if your were house building anyway?

Depends on your collection really!

Diagon Alley is awesome. I'm considering picking it up simply because of how unique all the buildings are. If its between those two, Diagon Alley is just too cool.

Any specifics on the release date of the Minecraft set, or is Summer 2012 all we have to go on? I'm thinking it'll be a nice and affordable set to have for mini-scale stuff.

TANKS!

How many pieces is this? Not sure what to put for how much I'd pay but I can try to come up with a reasonable estimate with the piece count.

Good question, at a wild guess I'd say somewhere between 500-1000, depending on whether it comes with the accessories (rock pile, monlith, rover) etc

+1 for Diagon Alley

DA's building designs are more intricate and much nicer to look at, Hogwarts just looks drab and boring to build in comparison. The wife and I started building this set last weekend and she's enjoying it so far.

I only need like 500 pieces until I have everything to start the UCS millennium falcon. Most of the transactions on bricklink were smooth, but I'm waiting on the wildcard package from Lego. I ordered a bunch of pieces from them, but their website doesn't show the order so I don't really remember what I bought. I asked for an emailed part invoice when I was on the phone paying, but they never sent it after saying they would. I've read that they often fulfill orders for the pieces, even if they're out of the color you specifically ordered. I hope I didn't blow $60 for colors I don't need.

Hmm, the lego house on Top Gear was more impressive. That apartment itself is nice though.

Also, are there any Australians in here that have ordered from the AU Lego Shop? If so, how was the shipping time? The Mini Modulars are going for 130AUD shipped, which is pretty enticing.

Thanks again.

Has anyone here from Canada ordered from Lego.com? Did your order ship from the US or from somewhere in Canada? It doesn't really matter that much just wondering to get a better idea how long it would take to get it.

Another classic LEGO town set completed! Cargo centre (6391). Missing some pieces again, including the 2 base plates and the hair on the minifig up top. Entire set swings open since it's on hinges and forms a smaller cargo centre if need be.

So after making a few 8-bit builds on baseplates, I decided to make a free standing one. Much more challenging, but a hell of a lot more fun trying to make it accurate but also structurally sound. Constructed of only flat pieces.

AmPdu7dCIAEeKIJ.jpg

Took a few hours to put together. Really fun. If I want to do more of these I need to dismantle, but I dont want to just yet. Perhaps a rotating 8-bit structure in the apartment.

cool, now it just need to be made to look three dimensional ;)

Nah! I like the flat look personally. Also I don't have enough small bricks to make it truly 3d. It is only 4 flat bricks thick at the thickest point. The only big areas are the two braces I built behind the legs to hold it up. Even the , I might just use two monorail supports to keep it standing.

If I had planned it out it would wind up being far fewer pieces, but I was making it up as I went while looking at the sprite art. Basically I was using the colored pieces first then laying out the black underside to make the outline. Almost all of the visible black is actually one to two layers lower than the colored pieces. Then i added another layer of black bricks on the back for structural integrity. Next one I will plan and make the black base first then build on top of that. This one was just a whim. Flying by the seat of my pants if you will. And my third moc in about 20 years.
