Did they actually show any software at that?
I'll be honest, I don't remember an E3 before 2006.
E3 2005 was when they first revealed the console, when Iwata said it would be the size of 3 DVD cases, and that the graphics will make us say wow. Then in 2006 we got the blow out.

The rumors/leaks probably forced their hand in revealing as much as they did.
Being a public company, Nintendo also has a responsibility to report certain things for its investors so that they can make investment decisions.
Regardless, we likely would have seen it at TGS anyway.
Since the conference we've learnt a few things, though. NFC, account-based on-line, NiN.
Right, that's what I'm saying.
The first actual showing of the system was really 2006 (besides the behind closed doors stuff).
And it was huge.
The Wii U was just the tech demos.
I think they could have gotten away with saying nothing or that they don't comment on rumors. Sure, the shareholders would have wanted to know something, but they could have handled that differently. It would have been better than what we're doing now. Just seems like they should be hyping the crap out of this thing and letting people know that games are coming and what those games are. Hell, even the games that were announced aren't really talking about the Wii U version or anything of that nature. It's strange, man. Why gum up the works for the guys who are working on games already announced? I don't understand that.
But what I'm saying is they did a vague reveal at one E3 and then a full one the following E3.
It was only vague because it was poorly planned.
It shows a lot about the system, though.
It really wasn't comparable to showing just the system and a MP2 demo being passed as MP3.
I disagree. You should check out the 2005 press conference to get a better idea of what I'm saying. Also Miyamoto didn't use a translator in it. ^_^
Their 2011 tease reveal handily outdid their 2005 tease reveal. We got game announcements, a game demonstration, a breakdown of what the controller does, two tech demos, and people got to play it on the showfloor. If last year was poorly planned, then 2005's was decided upon the morning of the conference as Iwata wrote out the presentation on sticky notes.
I think the issue is far too much leaked. We had people who based off descriptions practically drew identical to the real thing controllers etc.
I do think Nintendo needs to loosen the leash on 3rd parties though. Its stupid to block them from saying oh yeah this titles coming out on Wii U or showing info on titles they already announced. The only reason you hide that stuff is to try and hide capabilities of the system but lets be real. Microsoft and Sony learned before the leaksd occured what Nintendo was shooting for.
I wonder what partnerships they will announce:
even though they probably refer to call of duty and all that
I totally agree. There is no reason we shouldn't be getting more information on the Wii U version of Arkham City. We already know the game is coming out, so why all the secrecy? It also doesn't make any sense why the trailer for Darksiders 2 doesn't have the Wii U logo as well. Maybe they should be barred from talking about overall capabilities such as RAM, GPU, etc., but they should be able to talk about functions related to their game.
I'm surprised there are people actually anticipating Arkham City...well I guess there is you peculiar Wii only owners
Oblivion sucks. I hate it. Therefore that point is invalid.
alls I know is the next ____ Souls game better come to wiiU.I wouldn't know.
Never played any of the Elder Scrolls.

Could be. Demon's Souls, then Dark Souls, maybe they'll want to go for something more light.Shining Souls?
I skipped skyrim but I might bite a wiiU version if it's enhanced.Strangely enough, I have the 360 version, but I only played to 50% of the story then stopped. I'll play it again on the Wii U for a "different" experience. Will probably do the same thing for Darksiders 2. I'm holding out for Skyrim to be announced on the Wii U so I can pick it up, then.
Arkham City.

Wii only owners are probaby in the best position of any of us.

Your hearts are strong.
Didn't some of the playable tech-demos for the Wii end up becoming Wii Play?
Could we get a "U Play" based on some of the stuff we saw at E3 last year? Either as a pack-in title, or perhaps even bundled with a second pad?
What do we have here? It looks like Monolith Soft isn't just working on a Wii U project. It's currently hiring for a 3DS project too!

Can't say I'm too excited about that. 3DS is already getting a ridiculous amount of 1st party games, I hope they have enough ready for WiiU. I won't buy it for multiplat ports.
Nintendo's not getting RE6 (if I read ShockingAlberto's codespeak earlier in the thread right), and for some odd reason I don't think Rockstar will take the extra effort to port GTA V (whether the Wii U is far more powerful than the 360, or 6 Wiis ductaped together, due to "lack of time").
Well I guess the speculation was correct then. Presumably this game ties into that UFO art they showed some time ago.
Oblivion PS3 sold really well, despite coming out well after the game actually did.
Now we just need Pandora's Tower developer on board. (Ganbarion?)
Difference is, 360 still had a small userbase when PS3 was launched and many were holding out for the PS3 before jumping into "next-gen". The type of consumer who would have any interest in games like Arkham City will likely already be one of the 130 million who have purchased a PS3 or 360 over the past six years.
My PC can AC perfectly fine, but after the Wii U announcement I decided to wait for that version. Hopefully it's the GotY Edition, would be sweet.I'm surprised there are people actually anticipating Arkham City...well I guess there is you peculiar Wii only owners
