Mike Capps turning hype up to 11. Seems like Epic really wants next gen to start as early as it possibly can. Will we see a glimpse of next gen with this years GDC starting on March 5th? Hope so...

With GDC right around the corner, starting on March 5th, game developers are prepping their presentations to show fellow industry colleagues & media. Quantic Dreams’ David Cage, known for his work on PS3 exclusive Heavy Rain, will host a keynote during GDC – full story here – but another company is going to debut some new demos & that company is Epic.

During GDC 2012 Epic Games plans to shown new Unreal Engine demos & Epic’s Mike Capps says they have already made people gasp. He shared today, “Just reviewed all projects and GDC @UnrealEngine demos. I felt like a proud papa. Demo made people gasp, literally.” Whatever they have planned must be something really impressive to have people gasping.

As you may recall, Epic debuted their Samaritan tech-demo at GDC 2011 & it stunned audiences with its lovely visual display -- find screens here. With work underway on Unreal Engine 4, whatever Unreal-based demos Epic has planned for GDC will surely deliver some visually sharp & impressive graphics – of course whether this demonstrates what we can expect from next-gen consoles is anyone’s guess.

Square already blurred the line between CG and real time visuals w ff13. It needs to look better than that at least.

I would almost agree with you, but then remembered that all the cutscenes on the PS3 were actually pre-rendered in-engine renders with the visuals cranked up. That's why your four discs too.

Also, I can't wait to see what PCs will bring us in the future.

Spoiler: NeoGaf won't be impressed.

This.

I expect it to look pretty damned amazing though.

I am wonder what context they will show it off with?

Samaritan? Gears? Unreal? New IP? Random Tech demo?

Why not? People were impressed by the Samaritan video.

In many threads there were a ton of Gafers saying that it was not even discernible from this gen graphically.

Probably nothing more than current unreal games running 60FPS at 1080p with some physics thrown in.
But seriously you should play arkham city at 1080p with physx effects, I would be happy with that at launch.

Hoping for a realtime demo like the ones for UE3. Those were amazing.

Not really all that surprising, is it? It's a new platform, Crytek and Epic confirmed support, and GDC is the opportunity to show your middleware to potential licensees. And I hear Crytek UK recently readied a Wii U demo they're quite eager to show.
