Where does the lighting from under the folded fingers come from ?

iPad and hand not photographed at the same time ?

It is a photoshop. If the reflection were real, you would see underneath the thumb, not the same angle.

Has there ever been an Apple invite image THAT revealing? Time indeed are a changin'

indeed. they're not exactly being coy about what's going to be the big upgrade with this ipad.

and, regarding a CNBC rumor from a few hours ago, I had a feeling the NYC location was BS.

Well, I guess I knew what I was getting into getting an iPad 2 at christmas.

Hopefully I'll get a few hundred bucks for it on Craigslist.

If you sell this week, you can get 400 for a 16 GB. practically guaranteed.

now, waiting till next week, maybe that drops to 300 or a bit less.

Or maybe the Retina display is not the major thing worth announcing. I think the industry has all but concluded that the resolution on this thing was going to be a beast.

...perhaps they haven't so much blown their load in the announcement image as much as they have just lulled us into a false sense of security.

Yes...just a resolution increase...pay no attention to the PENTA-CORE CHIP PROCESSOR OR FOREVER-CELL BATTERY MUTHA FUCKAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wonder if the Maps icon indicates anything in particular. We know they re-signed their agreement with Google, so they're still using Google Maps. Maybe some additions?

Now if this thing ships with a quad core and a great camera then it's going to be mind blowing.

In the past the map icon was used to show where the keynote was actually taking place.

I suspect that Keynote in the dock is just a way of saying "Hey, we're having a keynote" and not "Yo, iWorks '12 is going to be shown and it's going to blow your minds".

May be wrong, but just my initial read.

Thanks a lot hype. I wasn't planning on buying any tablet and now I'm considering selling my home laptop for one of these. Hopefully I get some sense into me by the end of the day.

I just bought an Android tablet.
I keep telling myself that my only iOS device will be an iPod Touch someday (still rocking a 60GB Gen 5 Video iPod, lol).

I hope this will result in an iPod refresh too...but it won't.
I hope I'll be able to resist the need to buy this tablet.

iPod refreshes happen around September. It won't get anything at this event.

Wha? the ipad in the invite does have a home button, it just doesn't show the white rounded square inside it. There are 2 reflections; the finger, and a subtle home button. Dat contrast.

The real question is how is the calendar app date March 7th? Has Apple discovered time travel?

I'm sure someone on stage will tell us they've been "innovating like crazy".

For example, the penta-core A-Omega chip is so powerful, they've had to place it outside the enclosure. but, instead of just leaving it sit there, they've made it into a handy hand warmer on cold days.

The real conspiracy will revolve around that second phrase "and touch". the obvious implication is that it's an ipad and you touch it. no big deal. but what if there's more... what if they've added... A REAR TRACKPAD!

boom. vita dead, etc

I wonder if the touch thing is some kind of haptic feedback? Probably just an iPad generic statement. But haptic touch would be nice.
That's definitely the sort of advancement I would need to get into full on hype mode.

Have you guys seen...err, felt, Immersion's new HD Haptics? It seems like it could be incredible if implemented correctly. In their white paper is an example of how you will be able to "feel" the screen change orientation before it actually does.

Not to mention localized feedback on a virtual keyboard, which seems like it'd be small-fry for this tech.

Right, the Keynote's just them being clever. It's the same Infiniti Loop on the Map icon.

The bezel frame does look a little different. This might be a switch to the 4th gen iPod touch style of the metal dipping under the black bezel.

My eyes are ready. Let's see what else this thing has got. Hopefully they've added some nice new hardware features beyond spec bumps.

It's a huge stretch, but there is a small possibility they'll show off a preview of iOS 6 with their new (non-Google) Maps app. With the exception of last year (iOS5 at WWDC) I'm pretty sure new versions of iOS were always revealed in March.

So I guess no flash for the camera.
Yeah, if all the back pic leaks are to be believed, that really sucks..

Ipad 1? How much did you get for it? Thinking of keeping mine for my kids though.
Yeah, i'm gonna be keeping my iPad 1 as well for the same reason. Finally I can have some freedom though, huge reason why I can't wait for this is so I can get back to reading on an iPad again (in retina!!).

There's been some rumors that Apple might release a new AppleTV too (not a TV set, just an upgraded AppleTV) at this event. If so, I might pick up one of those. Either way, this should be a nice event :D Oh & subscribed :D

These rumors have been all but confirmed for over two months now. Even the date was confirmed by someone who got invited a couple of weeks ago.

Still. Apple should refund or upgrade anyone who bought an iPad 2 in 2012. Knowing their greed, they won't.

Pretty sure that's incorrect.

New versions of iOS have always been previewed at WWDC. They used to coincide with new iPhone hardware, but that seems over.
