I can buy Vita 3G/Wifi + 16 GB card for like 230€ at Lockerz, a steal! Seems too good to be true; you guys have any recommendations where to buy the thing for cheap?

Thrustmaster is having a hell of a time getting all three of their Vita cases to market. The cases have been delayed yet again, with no new date given by Amazon US. The Thrustmaster site is saying available as of yesterday, 28th.

My Vita needs a safe home to rest while not in use. The white foam envelope that the system shipped in is getting the job done while I'm not around, but it's just not fly enough.

I wouldn't trust that site to ship me dog shit if I paid for it with overnight shipping.

The best retailer deals have come and gone I'm afraid. They were all launch deals that gave $20 gift cards.

Looks like my Thrustmaster SPF case is still going to dispatch tomorrow from Amazon.co.uk. My Vita has been living in a sock for a week now. it needs a respectable place to live

SCEE just tweeted that Gravity Rush is coming to retail afterall.

June 13th.

Yes! Day one!

NY Times Vita review. They love it.

In this broad context, the idea that a colossus like Sony would devote itself to developing and marketing a device that is at least twice the size of a phone, blatantly endangers the pocket budget of men around the world, and is pretty much built to do one thing well — play games — might seem anachronistic. But that is exactly what Sony has done with the new PlayStation Vita. And that is why it’s brilliant.

The Vita is the finest mobile gaming system yet made for adults. It’s that simple. The Vita is not trying to be a phone. It is not trying to be the one-stop shop for everything your digital heart desires. It is not bloated and shackled by the weight of diffuse ambition that you might have expected from Sony.

The Vita is trying to be a great game machine for core console gamers who don’t mind adding to their pocket budget by carrying around a device in addition to their cellphones. At that it succeeds superbly.

Amazon emailed me this morning that MLB The Show '12 is now release-date delivery.

I'm seriously thinking about cancelling and getting the digital version, though, since I know I'll be playing it off and on in perpetuity...

YMMV with Lockerz I guess. I got the launch day bundle from them for the price of a wi-fi unit. It was shipped the day of release and got to me 2 days later. No issues. I think their main problem is the 32 gig memory card.

I'm also waiting for the VIP case and using that foam envelope. I want to bring it around with me, but it's not leaving the house until I get that case.

May I ask where you live? I'm from Europe and that Vita deal seems too good to be true. Also, did you get the 3G model?

I got the Hori Face Cover from Amazon yesterday, nice basic hard case for the Vita. I'm only planning on using it for PAX East so I'm not fumbling with my FEB case I use for every day carrying, so the low cost made it an easy choice.

I'm in the US, so I'm not sure how Lockerz deals with Europeans. Yes, I got the launch day bundle which was the 3G model + 8 GB memory card. I was only planning to get a wi-fi model, but with the discount on the bundle, it ended up being the same price.

The middle quote you selected is sorta hilarious, considering the PSP got beat up for supposedly being the exact opposite (trying to do too many things), even though the VITA is doing everything the PSP did and then some. But yeah, it's not "trying to be a phone" so there's that, I guess.

PSP didn't perform any if its tasks well. Vita improves over PSP in every area, and in gaming rivals the home console experience.

I think web browser and quality apps are very important too in the mid term, but they should keep improving the gaming aspect tangibly.

To be fair that fact has only been known for what, a few months? Can't expect EVERY tech/gaming based site to have picked up on it...wait.

Backup and restore works pretty well. It takes approx. 70 mins to restore 10-14GB of data from PS3 to Vita.

I agree that it works well in that it works. But it is ridiculously slow. That seems to be due to the speed of the memory cards though.

I only did a 5GB backup today and it took probably 45 minutes. I can transfer exactly the same quantity of data to my usb3 stick in just over a minute. Now I know the Vita isn't USB3, but still.

Hopefully owning this 32GB card will negate too many needs to do with in the future. I'm not looking forward to it when the time comes.

My list for a revision that will never happen are a) USB 3, b) much faster memory cards, I'll pay the premium, again, c) white. One of those MIGHT land in the west one day. MAYBE.

The comments are worse. There are people that are getting mad at fucking trophies. WTF. And since you CAN get trophies on pre-owned games its even worse.

I think one of the comments nailed it though. It's done so the new user doesn't automatically get all the trophies if he uses the save file from the original buyer. It makes perfect sense to be honest and doesn't sound like it's done to stop used sales (you have online passes for that).

If you wanna get the trophies start from scratch and earn them.

Is there a reason why they're still DLC? I figured since its the *Ultimate* version, the game would have all the characters in the cart (Jill and Shuma aren't even new DLC for the game)
The very existence of an "ultimate" version only several months after vanilla should explain why they aren't on disc.

Yeah, it's not so much that Vita is doing less than PSP, but that these days everything does everything. Many people own several portable devices with MP3 playback and a browser. So it's not a shock that Vita has a Netflix app, or music playback. By comparison, PSP (erroneously in my opinion) had every function scrutinized and compared against the best available.

PS: I beat your Wipeout Near challenge ;)

I don't get what the big deal is. It may just mean the original rumor is wrong.

Odd that there is no mention of memory cards in that review. It is a valid issue right now.
Eh, overpriced memory cards for consoles are nothing new.

In fact, Apple's whole pricing model is based on capacity. A 16gb iPad is exactly the same as a 32gb iPad in all ways aside from the increase in capacity. This jump will cost you $100.

They need to have incremental backup or sync so that we are only hit the first time.

If the screen's off, the PS button should be orange if charging, off if it's finished charging.

If the screen's on, the battery indicator clearly shows if it's charging. If it's plugged in and finished charging it should look like a normal battery indicator.

Debatable (For its time, PSP certainly did its tasks better than most alternatives of which there were few.) but that's beside the point. The complaint at the time was as much about just the act of putting any focus on non-gaming tasks at all. Now that we live in a world where every mobile device is a jack-of-all-trades by default it doesn't even register that the PS Vita starts with a much larger of library of movies to buy than the PSP did, for example. That was seen as such a big threat to the PSP's "core values" at the time, LOL.

Gravity Rush release date in the US is now June 12.

That's way too long from now. I'm glad I'm importing.

I hope this means that there will be notable releases between now and June though.
Notable releases other than sports games and shooters and bleh.

One thing I found from another site was this which looks like it might do what I want without any modification

If you order this can you tell me if it works with the Vita using the Trent, I'd rather not do the mod tbh, my soldering skills are not great.
