Media Create Sales: Week 8, 2012 (Feb 20 - Feb 26)

There is more if you go looking for it.

It's already proven to exist. Can we move on to the actual point I was trying to make? Or perhaps moving on entirely, considering the relative pointlessness of the issue due to how many times you've picked apart my examples to point out your issues with very minor details that have nothing to do with the point I'm making.

Neither MGS will have any impact whatsoever. Snake Eater 3D will sell a couple special edition 3DS and that's it.

No one is disputing this. In fact, this is a much smaller point within a larger point which was picked apart so much that I feel like this argument has become relatively pointless.

Well you could go back to the media create threads from last year and check out the 3ds seling 45k+ a week from the pricecut all the way up to when those games released, often with no games in the top 10 software sales.

JPNHandhelds-40.png

Through last week. YTD calculated using Famitsu year with MC data (it's easier for me that way :p ).

So hey guys, a new half-baked tool to stick in the labs directory. A few times in the past I and others have made images based on rolling sums. Thinking of doing another one recently, I decided to make a tool to save the hassle of grabbing the weeklies and summing things up in a spreadsheet each time I wanted to. http://garaph.info/labs/rollinghard.php Just pick the tracker, week span to sum up, and the systems you want added in. Hardware family is assumed, so no needing to waste several spaces to get DS covered. It then gives a table with the individual and total sums. From there you've still got to copy/paste out the data you want and do whatever with it.

Some sample combinations. I've left them on the default of adding 52 weeks together, and have selected Famitsu to get the larger time period.
Portables: GBC, GBA, DS, 3DS, PSP, PSV, WS, and NGP
Home consoles: PS1, PS2, PS3, N64, GCN, Wii, Xbox, X360, DC

It's possible to do a single system, too; it just makes for a boring example to link to.

One Piece Kaizoku Musou ships 650 000 units first day. Damn. Could this beat XIII-2 opening? PS3 hw sales are going to be also interesting as there is that special bundle. Don't know how limited it's though.

Depends on how high sell-through is. FFXIII-2 shipped a lot of copies even though it took weeks to clear through the original stock.

One Piece appears to have a very strong start, high sellthrough at many stores, majority of buyers is at 20s and 30s.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!

Highest debut for a Musou since PS2 times, with a slight possibilty of being the best ever? I'm on!

Culex's original graph. Took awhile to find the spreadsheet. :p

Out of interest... why's Monster Hunter on this graph? At the point it was made, Monster Hunter was just a PS2 port which I didn't think was expected to be massive, I'm curious what made the original designer decide it was worth adding a label for?

Yeah, that's the one! One of the best GAF memes for sure.

Kind of wish I remember who even suggested the notion that the DS spiked up in Japan because of Easter sales for gifts.

Check the graph. It caused a noticeable psp hardware bump

He's in this thread, so he can answer. :) Probably because almost every spike has a label, and that was a spike.

Wanna say AniHawk. I think the graph actually has the date wrong. Easter was the Kirby spike, but since PSP went ahead of DS one week after that, it worked better with Nintendogs, I think. :)

It was Amir0x. That, and some dude named Galian Beast (who got renamed to Stupid Member or somesuch) and more are in the sales archives.

It was hyped to add to sales. This is back when people were eating crow over the DS taking over the PSP

To make a statement about Sony's March 9th "Direct" presentation. If we don't see any media, rather just announcements and/or logos, I will be very disappointed. That will probably mean that those games are not very far in development. Just to make myself clear I'm already anticipating to be disappointed but it would be nice to be surprised.

Tales of : big difference between Dengeki and Media Create and indeed, the sell-through is not spectacular in both cases.
Rhythm Thief fell sharply. Sega is a bit out of luck this time, I thought they would be able to have a longburner in hands this time.
Wait, where did this come from?

From the dead.

ha, I thought I was the only one who remembered that guy. those were like awesome Nintendo PR statements with a kick of fanboyism and delusion all together. it was fun to read.

Is there any predictions about MGS3DS performance?
How much MGS HD collection did?

[PS3] Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker HD Edition - 38,378 / 62,980
[PS3] Metal Gear Solid HD Edition - 58,864 / 72,398

MGS3DS is going to bomb hard.

The only thing I would like to know is how much it would need to sell to be considered a success.

So it is going to be bigger than what I had imagined. I always thought that the million mark was just a dream (700k - 750k max). But hey, I will be very happy to eat crow if it ends up making possible the impossible.

Highest PS3 debuts:

(Famitsu)

Final Fantasy XIII - 1,516,532
Final Fantasy XIII-2 - 605,660
Tales of Xillia - 512,544
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots - 476,334

Since I thought the Easter thing was of interest, I have what I think are its origins noted. Alcibiades brought it up, Amir0x replied to it a few minutes later. The jokes started a few more minutes later.

Why would Sunday be a big day for DS, Easter sales?

I know Kirby was out a few days before, as well as the new colors...

What happened Sunday, or was it a normal weekend surge + new colors/Kirby?

I don't think Kirby had anything to do with it, actually, mostly colors + Easter. People love that shit.

First day for One Piece is estimated >200k, could top top 500k for the week depending on the movement of weekend, manufacturer has already shipped more than once, shipment for the week will be close to 700k.

Wow, hope to see it ending being a million seller. One Piece is that good!

Even though the gameplay style sucks IMO.
