I want to know what has changed from the leak to now. Would be kinda interesting to see how much if anything has.

So... about the ending... I had this realization as I saw all the Mass Relays get destroyed. Without them, theres no way to jump from one star system to another right? Doesn't that mean that after the final battle on earth, all the battleships and soldiers from the races that Shepard recruited are forever stuck in the Milky Way system? never to return to their home world?

It's implied that FTL is still possible, so I guess it's a matter of time. The endings are left open for interpretation.

Kid: "Can I hear another story about The Shepard?"

Buzz Aldrin's crappy acting: "Well, it's getting late, but okay; this one's the story about how he banged a blue alien chick..."

Is that one ending all the endings?

I'm not sure how many endings there are, I haven't replayed the last chapter to explore the other outcomes, but from the decisions you get, there may be 3 endings.

1 - You let the illusive man do his thing and try to control the reapers
2 - You become a reaper and control them yourself, ending the cycle and destroying all reaper tech - citadel, crucibel & mass relays.
3 - You use the citadel + crucibel to destroy all synthetic life forms including yourself.

I've only tried option #2

Granted, I haven't played the game yet, but watched streams for a couple hours yesterday.

The stupid little kid being shoved down your throat is so incredibly stupid. No BioWare, my renegade Shep doesn't give a rat's ass about some little street urchin. No, it didn't mentally scar him to have PTSD nightmares chasing after the kid in dream world. And for fuck's sake why is the stupid little kid giving the biggest most important expository monologue in the game at the ending? Really?

It would have been cool if the Guardian was voiced by somebody like Saren instead not some random kid.

The endings in general are poor- they're cheap Deus Ex knockoffs. Can anyone explain why the synthesis ending makes sense? Green space magic makes everyone magically into synthetics? Nevermind how you get zero sense of closure because the Normandy and your crew get stuck on some random ass Land of the Lost jungle planet.

I liked the endings to ME1 and ME2. They felt appropriately heroic and made you feel awesome. I'm ok with sad or depressing endings too. But ME3's endings seem incredibly contrived and lazy and simply create far more questions than answers and don't offer closure. I thought ME3 was where they were going to go crazy with divergence in the narrative? Instead its just red explosion versus blue explosion versus green explosion.

And this isn't even touching the corny grandpa and kid talking about THE SHEPARD at the end. Ugh....

Can you sex your way out of it?

Reminds me a little of the ending to Star Control 2: The Ur-Quan Masters. "Brave" endings in space stories almost always end badly. Except the ending of Freespace 2.

Hell, remember the storm about the ending to Battlestar Galactica?

This is what I don't understand. What is even at stake? The reapers are giant cyborgs designed to... stop cyborgs from killing organics? It's inevitable that organics will create cyborgs and the cyborgs will get mad and kill them all?

Yeah, that really worked out for the Geth in Mass Effect 1, 2, and the middle of 3.

What if the Reapers don't exist and a single singularity occurs? Organic civilizations would be fucked forever. My bet is that the original race that created the Reapers faced singularity, and the creation of the Reapers was their desperate solution, a kind of defense mechanism.

I guess that the point with the Geth and EDI is to probe that organic and synthetic life can coexist peacefully, therefore is your decision to call bullshit on the Guardian or not.

Why the Reapers instead of wipe out advanced organic life don't keep lurking in the galaxy? Well, because people like The Illusive Man exist.

The difference is though that the reapers intentionally preserve organic life by targetting only the most advanced civilisations. The prothean's dialogue shows that humans had already evolved during the end of the last cycle, and were kept intact whilst the rest of the universe was harvested. I know it seems like a contradiction in terms but the purpose of the reapers does make sense.

Let say I hated the story in ME2 because it was fairly stupid (Jesus Shepard, working with Cerberus, BABY REAPER). Am I going to like the story in this one?

It depends, almost all the controversy will be directed to the endings, but the rest of the game, the genophage arc, the Rannoch arc, Thessia, the participation of the ME2's characters, etc. are pretty damn good.

Looking at the endings I can tell this is going to be my favorite thread for next week. Can't wait until podcasts start doing spoiler casts for ME3. I always love a good spoiler cast

I really wish they would have explained more about the actual origins of the Reapers. Like, who or what originally built them and why they felt the need to "preserve" (yeah right) organics once they've reached their so-called "technological singularity". I guess maybe some questions are never meant to be answered.

I love this series but that is a bit of a weak ending. Nothing horrible, just that it could have been done a little bit better.

Well it's disappointing if the story is actually worse than ME2. I do have hope that the subplots and decisions will be interesting though.

You're wrong about the 1st one. The last ending is called "Synthesis" and it consists of The Guardian giving you a third option: merging synthetic life with organic life. In this ending, Shepard sacrifices himself/herself to inititate the process. The rest of the ending goes as any other: Mass Relays get destroyed, The crew of the Normandy gets stranded on some backwater planet. The only difference is that once the crew emerges from the Normandy, their eyes glow signifying that the merge has occured. This is probably what Bioware consideres as the "best" ending lololololol

What pisses is the most about all of the endings is that they always occur and you have no choice in the matter. What's worse, the same goddamn thing can be said about the whole goddamn game: none of your choice really matter. It's all gonna play out like Bioware wanted it to and you have little say in the matter. Choice, my ass.

EDIT: I was saving this for later, but might as well start posting it now. Bioware being "creative":

Yup. Space magic makes everyone into cyborgs. Makes sense.

Bad story, absolutely horrific endings and zero player influence on the course of the story. BSN going into meltdown and for once I agree.

Oh by the way, BigJiantRobut. Is it true that after the Nth time Sheploo gets styled on by Kai Leng, he breaks down crying and then throws a hissy fit? Because if so, then LOL BIOWARE.

Hey, if they bitch enough maybe Lolware will graciouslygive us a good ending in the form of paid DLC.

What do you guys mean by your choices don't matter? No matter what you choose the outcome is the same?

Most of the time. This is especially true to the decisions you made in ME1/ME2. You killed the Rachni Queen? No problem! The Reapers pulled another one out of their asses. You destroyed the Collector's base in ME2? You get a different war asset and a little less war preparedness (100 points instead of 110) and so on and so forth.

Another kick in the nuts.
Samara
dies no matter what you do. And if I understood it correctly, Bioware gets rid of her offscreen.
