"Monster Hunter Portable 3 Vita" Spotted On UK Games Retailer Play.com

Its all about who you play with. Some MoHun players are fanatics but you really get a sense of teamwork when 4 players try to capture a giant monster.

Or kill G-rank Lao with the Ancient Dragonwood cannon(x3) before he gets to the 3rd area.

Co-op'd on Wii & PSP but it still didn't 'click'. I don't want to rag on the game, I just find it really interesting that it's such a prominent and important game and yet I see virtually nothing there to get excited about. People go crazy for it though!

MHF2/U are my most played games by far. I can understand how it doesn't click with people though, but usually those people want auto-lock and experiance points/levels. ANything you can pinpoint as to why it didn't do it for you?

I wish I cared about the Monster Hunter franchise. It seems so important and everyone acts like its the be all and end all of handheld games but I just don't 'get it'. I tried it on PSP, Wii and iOS and I really don't see what special about it.

I feel like everyone is in on the secret except for poor old me :(

Maybe it's just a case of "Love it or hate it"; I gather not everyone who tries MH gets to be hooked by it and I don't think it's compulsory to like it or there's any particular secret about it.

As far as I'm regarded I have played some 100 hours on Tri on Wii so far and I was hooked from the very beginning, as I found it a game quite demanding but also very rewarding; some fights can take up to 50 minutes and generally, at least in my experience, it requires long gaming sessions; it's a kind of game that needs patience and dedication and that's perhaps where its appeal can be found.

I think people give it more weight as a game than it deserves because of it's market power in Japan. I do like the games, but they're not some huge improvement over PSO or anything. I still have strong hopes of PSO2 coming to the West, to give me that similar MonHun experience in a more traditionally co-op suited platform.

I'm not sure if these other ones are real...

Vice City Nights is an awful name, sounds like a Sims expansion, has to be bollocks.

I do think a MonHun will come to Vita at some point, but this is no indication for me.

Alright, time for someone to go ask Play if they know something or if they've started smoking crack.

Would it be too much to ask for some enterprising game journalist to actually do some journalism for once?

This thread is either really awesome or really depressing. Final Fantasy Type 0 HD and MHP3rd Hd are megatons for me.

These games (with the exception of ToIR) are too far off from being announced (E3 at the earliest) let alone being released. Play.com pulled them out of their arse.

edit: Though I don't think any of them (especially FFt0) are far-fetched.

Seems similar to the pamphlet with "typos" from that other thread. Most of the games they have for preorder, are just games that were announced/talked about at sometimes rather than actual confirmation.

They have Assassin's Creed and Bioshock for preorder too; when aside the name there's no other info.

well, after liberty city in gta4 they skipped vice city and went straight to san andreas for gta5,this could be the reason

but sounds to good to be true

Can someone explain why a Monster Hunter 3 HD Portable whatever would be a big deal? Yes, I know it's Monster Hunter, but wouldn't people have already bought it on another system?

Your wish is my command, I've emailed them. Let's see how deep this rabbit hole goes.

I really want Type 0 HD to happen. The production values combined with the immaculate IQ that should be possible on Vita for what is essentially a PSP up-port would be fantastic.

Because it would mean the series didn't become Nintendo exclusive.

It would be good IMO because MH wouldnt be 3DS exclusive for the forseeable future. Port or not, it would be a MH game on the Vita. That alone matters.

Imo theres more chance of there being an exclusive ios gta than a vita one, someone at play obviously got very pissed and put this lot up for a laugh

Like I said, Rockstar is a licensed Vita developer. So, they're likely making something for the system. We don't know what that something is yet, but this could be it. The PSP got 2 exclusive GTA games, that eventually came to the PS2. GTA:CW and GTAIII are already on iOS, but those aren't exclusive.

Because the PSP and PS3 version haven't been localized?

Rockstar is a licensed Vita developer, so it isn't completely impossible. A new game set in Vice City would be great though.

No way Sony doesn't save GTA for E3 unless they're truly afraid it would get overshadowed by GTA5 or something.

I'm not saying there isn't a Vice City in development for Vita (and if it were, no doubt iOS and 3DS also), I just don't believe it would have a name that poor.

The other three I actively expect though.

We never got MHP3 in english and it was the biggest MH title to date. It had monsters and areas from every single MH game, including Tri, as well as some brand new ones. A new Vita version would most likely come with new exclusive monsters AND would likely have online at this point.

The psp also got a port of chinatown wars that bombed so hard ot made the ds version look like the biggest hit of the decade

Rockstar made the genius decision of announcing the iOS version of CTW before the PSP version's launch. They charged $40 for the PSP port, no way in hell was that iOS version going to cost $40. That's why I didn't buy it until it was on sale.

conversely they may feel the situation is so dire that they need to pump as much enthusiasm into the device as possible as quickly as possible

This is a Japanese event, while GTA IV and the PSP iterations actually managed some decent numbers in Japan it still wouldn't be announced there.

The Tales box art is photoshopped badly compared to the MH boxart. The artwork is wider than the playstation bar.

I bet none of these games were on play.com, except for MH, and someone is having fun.
