People keep saying this but that is really not the case. People are upset because someone who first praised the film and the games showcased in it was told that everything his country produces now is dog shit in return for his compliments. That's rude, unprofessional, and absolutely uncalled for. It's the entitled behavior of someone who is like just expressing his opinions maaaan, why you got to hate an artist for just expressing himself.

We think that makes him an asshole. We are calling him an asshole. Other people then show up to say, "Well, he's sort of right, so that makes it okay," and then the thread gets sidetracked into being about whether or not Japanese games actually do all suck (they don't), but the main point remains: Phil Fish is kind of an asshole and some people on GAF also think that's a good reason not to give him their money. That's like just our opinion, man.

I have a feeling you like to drive by post in threads without reading the discussion. A lot of people have expressed well thought out complaints to what he said. (mostly how he said it, the hubris of it, and lack of remorse of even a real apology)

Speaking for myself, there are a lot of other games out there that I'd enjoy just as much, and I can buy those without handing my money to someone I feel is a complete douche.

There are ways to express your honest opinion without being an asshole.

Actions have consequences, and choosing to be a dick in a public arena can have negative repercussions in your professional life - especially when you're a small businessman who still hasn't released a product.
