There have been sightings of boxes advertising Donkey Kong 3D for the 3DS, and it is apparently possible to place pre-orders for it in store.

So, what do we reckon? Spectacular jumping of the gun? A baseless mistake? A genuine leak?

Seriously, how reliable is EBGames. It's the first question to ask in cases like this, especially after what happened with Play.com, MH and the "oh, this 4ch photoshop MUST be legit, since it's coming a great Heaven, and so they'll announce it, let's publish it!!!111!!!" XD

I think it is more likely EBgame trying to make profit by interest from all of those deposit pre-orders.
That's why some games are not due, just for long term deposit pre-order.

My argument is that Gamestop is more than willing to take your money. If they're promoting pre-orders on Smash Bros., why not do the same on another inevitability? If anything, they probably hope you forget about that $5 and it rots and just becomes pure profit.

Hopefully 2D, following in the footsteps of the masterpiece that was DKCR.

I wonder if it's the right time, though. I believe DK works better following a year after the release of a 2D Mario (which I think is scheduled for this year). Mario would be the trailblazer that sells the system, DK gives the masses more of what they want.

Of course, 3D Land might have already fulfilled those criteria.

I'm so excited for an hypotetical Donkey Kong Land Returns because you can see how already Country was basically ready for 3DS, with all the perspective games ( going far into the background, hidden zones noticable only paying attention to certain details, etc.etc. ).

And because Country itsel was a pure work of art.

The difference being that Smash Bros. was announced at E3, while DK on 3DS is still speculation.

It won't be. That's just EBGames making dumb estimates. But so are most retailers that have it up for pre-orders already, including Best Buy, whose release date is 2012/12/31.

I'd even take a DKCR remake. i liked the game but the controls were really a pain for me
