Rumor: Downloadable Expansion To Marvel vs Capcom 3 Possibly Coming [Sven/Seth: No.]

Holy shit, people are actually complaining about this? This is what Capcom should be doing. And people are complaining that they are deciding to do a DLC update and a disc? how dumb can you fucking be? It's best for people consumers who picked up UMVC3 and for those who didn't at all.

Yall are just hating on Capcpom at this point just to hate and coming off like idiots when they are actually doing things right this time.

Hope this rumor is true though.

So have we confirmed this is fake yet? One side is telling me no, the otherside is telling me yes. This came from a wrestling forum with little to no information? Like, seriously.

Either way my wish list is as follows:

Marvel

Venom
Black Widow
War Machine
Rogue

Capcom

Harman Smith(Killer 7, would probably have to be the young version)
Batsu(Rival Schools)
Wayne(Lost Planet)
Falcon(Power Stone)

Since we're doing wishlists...

Capcom
Roll
Saki
PTX-40A
Nina (BoF2)

Marvel
Green Goblin
Ultron
Cloak & Dagger
can't decide between Ms. Marvel and Dr. Octopus :[

The first thing I looked for when I saw the picture was a possible source for the "X" in the logo. If we can find that, then we can just debunk this and move on. It looks a little too detailed and professional for somebody to create on their own, considering the rest of the image is just text and readily available logos.

Mostly because of the way Ultimate was rushed to meet the November release window. Niitsuma talked before about how he wanted to add those extra 8 for Ultimate but couldn't because of deadlines. Basically this is what Ultimate could and probably would have been in the first place. Other than that I don't have many problems with it.

But wasn't Ultimate what vanilla should have been in the first place? They can't keep releasing new versions and going "well due to us rushing things last time, THIS version is what the LAST version should have been!"

Do you guys really think they'll go for obscure characters after everyone felt the need to constantly remind how bad UMvC3 was going to be because a raccoon was playable but not Venom? And how criticised this would surely be?

I dunno, would be a bad move. Even considering how bad most marketing moves regarding this game were.

Except according to the rumor, this would be a downloadable update so you're still playing Ultimate.

Well, regarding Marvel, Cloak & Dagger is just my personal wish. I love them, I would die to see them appear playable in a game (specifically one I like), and I think they would work so well with the rest of the cast since there's no character that'd work like that.
All the other names I dropped are actually wildly popular characters who also are damn high on the wishlists posted for this game. And well, I tried to be a bit reasonable to be honest, if I had it my way, there'd be MANY more obscure names lol.

On the Capcom side... well, here's Nina my personal wish, but the other 3 have been in Tatsunoko vs. Capcom already. Additionally, there's no Lost Planet rep yet, hence PTX (which should've been used instead of Nemesis anyway...). I guess they probably wouldn't take all of these, if any, but I can hope!

LOL why am I not surprised! This is exactly why I haven't purchased SFxT

Milk it Capcpom!

Because you don't want to play a good fighting game? Or because you'll wait a few years down the line when they're finished updating it and THEN buy it when Capcom announces its next fighter? Or because you hate when games you like get new content to keep things fresh?

how do I slip unnoticed out of a gloryhole booth?

If they do decide to add characters people were clamoring for, then Ms. Marvel better be fucking in this time. :lol

Then again, this is assuming this whole thing is true and whatnot.

Wait why are we MAD AGAIN. This is WHAT WE WANTED.

The other 8 characters DLC, Mega Man etc?

NOT a forced disc release?

Reasonably priced DLC for so many characters?

THEY ARE NOT EVEN ON THE DISC. THEY ARE REAL NEW WORK.

People cannot bitch here without being huge hypocrites.

This is EXACTLY what people wanted and were pissed off that Capcom was not doing any "real" DLC for the game, to add in the other characters they wanted to see.

If this is true it's just like AE... current buyers get it cheap, new people get a discount disc.

WTF? How is this milking it? AE style updates are what we wanted to see!

I give up on everybody. You people really will bitch over Capcom jumping left OR right. They're damned.

Edit: Sorry, I know not everyone is bitching instantly, it's just that I had to head desk at so many "LOL MILK IT CAPCOM HERE WE GO AGAIN" posts. This reminds me of when AE was announced. First the zeitgeist said Capcom would never release a DLC update. Then it insisted AE would be a $60 retail disc. Then when it was confirmed as DLC, the zeitgeist switched over to bitching about the existence of DLC and how it ruins games forever.

As long as buyers of the retail UMVC3 disc don't get screwed over, and the expansion is actually priced well ($15 for 8 characters is good), who CARES if Capcom keeps updating the game? Fighting games get iterated. It's 2012 and half the gaming population still can't get over that?

We just feel like we just got forced with the double dip..why release Ultimate if you were going to improve on it not even a year later? We should have skipped straight to UMVC3X (lol at those letters) as opposed to making us drop $40 along the way:p

I guess you could say that. Since the turn around between MvC3 and UMvC3 was so short, having an update come out only 7 months or so after that seems like too much too soon. But at the same time, it's DLC. Like, actual DLC. Not models and data hidden away on the disk, or (I'm assuming) stuff that was just picked out and sealed off for a later profit. If they're going to follow any kind of release schedule, it seems to me that it would be better to put this stuff out as soon as it's finished, rather than sit on it for a few months to make it seem like they've been working on it for longer than they really have. Besides, can you image how much worse the reaction would have been if we knew that Capcom had more content planned, but held off on releasing it because wait I'm setting up another Mega Man Legends 3 harangue-fest scratch that

I dunno, I guess I'm just surprised by the initial reactions on the first page. I know that not everyone who boasted about avoiding UMvC3 in this thread has posted about the subject before, and they've each got their reasons for criticizing the short amount of time between each version of the game. But it's like people just skimmed the title and fired off a post. Hell, since Niitsuma left that tweet, it's a safe bet that something like what was posted in the OP is in the works, but even before that little bit of information was known, people were posting as if it was officially announced. This isn't exactly like the '90s when Capcom put out tons of revisions. This is much more like Arcade Edition, but if it turns out that people can play against the same pool of players with or without the DLC, then it's already an improvement.

I can't even really write about the topic coherently, to be honest; I'm getting agitated at the implication in some posts that the entire genre is tied to Capcom's output - as if every other developer on earth goes into hibernation whenever Capcom gets burnt out on making fighting games - and it's starting to get to me. I'm just going to stop before I make an outright fool of myself.

Well, then check tomorrow or whenever you get back to work. I think we all would be thankful for clarification! :)

Now that I think about it I don't remember seeing anything about UMVC3 DLC. Normally that would be on the front page of the in-store web site. I think the only way I would have missed something this big is if it were an email, which I don't have access to. :(

Hey I'm just trying to speak from their perspective.

I own MvC3, UMvC3 and will buy as many iterations as they release.

Same here , FGC will love this update , its only 15 dollars , its DLC , its more marvel action , stay free GAF

Capcom is so evil with this games :rolleyes

I'm just wondering since the bolded gets brought up a lot, but what happens if this is the last iteration? Or what if they do release another one, but also iterate on that one again? When do you consider it "safe" to purchase?

It's safe to purchase when you can actually upgrade the original item. So far, I got a brick that I can't update.

Don't think he does but it seems like Capcom has fallen into some sort of weird Osborne effect thing.
Don't get me wrong, I understand why some people are mad with Capcom. They've definitely earned some hate.

But as far as I know, UMvC3 wasn't all that succesful, and if they are still gonna release more content, downloadable this time*, then just hating on them seems ignorant. Glad the thread title was changed.

If they do decide to add characters people were clamoring for, then Ms. Marvel better be fucking in this time. :lol
Then again, this is assuming this whole thing is true and whatnot.
You already know I'm on the Green Goblin support camp. America's last hero.

*I actually prefer disc releases, since I don't trust digital distribution. But I guess it'll be cheaper this way.

Poison

Linn Kurosawa

Marvel
Black Widow
Nick Fury (Fury and Widow would likely appeal to Marvel because of the tie in to The Avengers film)
Emma Frost

I think that if Capcom is actually going to do a Marvel update, they won't pass up the opportunity to troll Mega Man fans further. They won't add X. They'll add Roll.

That or fat Mega Man from SFxT again, just to cross-advertise.

Can't spell troll without Roll.

Her version from SFxTK.

That'd actually made me regret getting banned from Capcom-Unity. It'd be fun to see the tears.

I love playing with Roll in TvC. I would irritate the living hell out of people by singing "clean up clean up!" while doing specials.

I'd like to see Mega Man's opening animation involve walking in and holding up a photograph of BA Mega Man. He says "Have you seen my father?"

People are tools?

"Capcom milks j00" is just an entrenched meme at this point. If anyone criticizes people for acting like tools with it, they get called "Capcom apologists". People apply the meme to get their two cents in regardless of what Capcom actually does or doesn't do.

Honestly, I have literally heard a few people react to Resident Evil 6 by saying, without even thinking about it, "LOL CAPCOM MILKING RESIDENT EVIL." How dare they make a numbered sequel to a popular franchise!

I have no interest in cross over fighting games. I don't mind dlc, but is this something we should expect from Capcpom - don't buy the first version because it will be useless a few months later; the game play mechanics will be altered and characters will be nerfed and more will be added later
