OP still on top surprises me... looks like it does not have a 90% drop (probably > 80% but < 85%).

Also surprise if Miku did less than 100K. Was expecting between 120K-130K.

i was wrong last week, but this week i have a good feeling that vita will pull up a bit, maybe topping 11k.

Its all psychology. 10k means nothing in literal terms, its just a number we use, and our entire counting system is based on '10' because we have 10 fingers.

But its slowed down considerably so it could increase, but not to 11k I think. Only a few hundred. But really it depends on if the Vita is being perceived generally as a bad buy (think after 3DS price cut announced how the sales died, but instead theres no announcement, customers just think its a bad time to buy Vita)

The real think to watch out for is if the decrease is stabilising, turning around, or getting faster.
I just think stabilising should be the norm, and nothing unexpected will happen. Could be wrong ofc.

Long-term, maybe, but in the last few weeks it's *consistently* dropped about 1.1k per week. Since the spikes left the system, there's been no sign of any stabilisation. It'll have to happen sometime, but there's no evidence of it yet.

Of course, there won't *be* any evidence until it, well, starts to stabilise.

Prior to the webcast thing i thought that could be a possibility but if anything that could've done more harm than good

Wouldn't any effect *that* had not actually show up until *next* week's sales figures?

Edit: On which note, would that actually be a reasonable sort of thing to add into the predictions game? Predicting the size of a post-news hardware bump (or indeed trough, as happened with the 3DS price cut), whenever any significant news comes about?

Is there a specific reason for us to expect this?

Maybe he was referring to Vita possibly dropping below 10k and subsequent meltdown
not that 11k and 9k make a lot of difference IMO

Maybe am naive, but everything about Icarus makes me think its going to very very big.
The game seems to be solid for all we know, but I'm not sure it may appeal Japanese market, whereas I reckon Nintendo is expecting it to sell better in the Western countries.

Do we actually have any figures suggesting how Japan feels about the Kid Icarus franchise in general? I mean, it's been dormant so long...

We know Japan loves Mario and MonHun; we know they're not terribly excited about Zelda and Wipeout. Do we have anything to really isolate if this is "the return of a long-lost classic" or just another 3DS game in the general Japanese audience's psyche?

You have to put Zelda on the same level as Wipeout? :(

Even if Zelda is losing its appeal in Japan, it's still a lot more popular than Wipeout. Wipeout was never anything in Japan.

More likely Vita > 20K GAF goes wild angry and upset.

I would guess that GAF has disproportionate affection for the Vita relative to the general consumer base, or even the general gaming consumer base.

I wouldn't continue down this path of victimhood lest you planned to martyr yourself in the process.

I don't think that may give us any indications; Kid Icarus was a 2D platform that now has been turned into a Sin and punishment style third-person-action-shooter, so it's like a new game altogether.

It's not just all about a franchise's popularity, just look at how differently 2D Mario and 3DMario games perform in Japan.

For all we know Metroid prime trilogy have had a lukewarm reception in Japan, so I'm not expecting Kid Icarus to sell insanely better, although I would be glad if it sold beyond my provisions.

How well did Sin and Punishment do, because that's the type of game Icarus seems similar to. If Japan normally doesn't go for that style of game, I don't think a character from Nintendo's past is suddenly going to change anything.

The difference is that Kid Icarus has Smash Bros Brawl for attention/appeal and will probably actually be marketed and advertised.

I personally don't imagine its going to help it that much. But we will see I guess. Its certainly not going to do gangbusters by any metric.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!

[N64] Sin and Punishment: Successor of the Earth (Nintendo) - 22.536 / 37.918 / 59,43% 21/11/00
[WII] Sin and Punishment: Star Successor (Nintendo) - 10.476 / 19.951 / 52,51% 29/10/09

However, Kid Icarus will do MUCH better than the two S&P

Rhythm Thief did surprisingly well. It had both a demo and good reviews. And Kid Icarus has a perfect Famitsu score. That'll will definitely increase the antention rate.
