Quite a few people have their Near settings file corrupted. I think if you restore the filesystem, the problem would go away. But I would wait for the April patch first to see if it fixes the cause of these file corruption.

I don't think your SkyHook router confusion will cause Near to fail. It should just report the wrong location.

I see, that sucks a lot. Definitely waiting for the update and hoping for the best then.

Do I have to reinstall stuff if I do the filesystem restore or is it just some defragement-type deal that just fixes stuff under the hood leaving all the content intact?

So I was thinking of buying either FIFA or Virtua Tennis, but I am not knowledgeable about either sports but I would like to learn.

I have had some tennis game experience before (Top Spin) but little FIFA experience. Would you recommend FIFA for someone who knows little about soccer but would like to learn?

They both are a lot of fun, but I think that VT4 is more accessible.

My thoughts:

Monster Hunter Freedom Unite: I almost wrote it off and regretted purchasing it because it was so damn hard. Then I actually read the manual, started doing the training and tutorials, and now I'm in love with it. I played it on the PSP briefly, but the controls frustrated me too much, along with the difficulty. Playing it on the Vita has been a revelation, however (or, since it's Capcom, a revelaiton). I've been playing it non-stop between Unit 13 and the other Vita games I've yet to beat.

The Vita drought: I missed a lot of PSP titles, so I have plenty to play. I already own 7 Vita proper titles, and 7 PSP titles, and there are still plenty on both I'm missing.

I think I'll be playing catch up, even when the next round of games hits.

I love this damn machine. It's been a godsend on my bus ride to and from work. I actually almost missed my stop because I was engrossed in a Unit 13 mission.

I've also been getting errors on Near lately. It used to work fine at first, but now all I get is an error.

Virtua Tennis is a top performer. Looks great and plays great.

FIFA is so, so close to being incredible, but it's nowhere near as smooth an experience as the console version. There's a lot of stuff missing from 12, too. There's no 360 degree dribbling, transfer deadline day, loan requests or tactical defending - all of which are things that just add to an experience that is difficult to go back to at times.

Do lots of people play hustle kings still? Like if I buy it I wont have to worry about not finding a match?

Hustle Kings has been going on for 2 years or so on the ps3. Online is crossplay and while not crowded i've never had a problem to find games. Be sure to look for any type of game.
As for your Fifa VT question i recommend you to try Fifa. It is a fully fledged soccer game that you can play casually or very deeply (tactics, real players with tons of real animations, fatigue, manager mode). I cant tell you what amount of the real thing you neee to know in order to enjoy the game, but you can always do the inverse path: learn the game depth through the videogame.
I did it with baseball and mlb and it was a unique experience.

Right-Analog really does wonders. There are times i play Valkyria Chronicles 2 with one hand.

I cant even imagine how tough playing Dissidia without the right analog would even be. Lol

Yeah my stockpile of awesome digital PSP games from my Go combined with some surprisingly good PSN Vita titles are the reason I don't feel any drought. I haven't even bought my first "full" Vita game yet and I've played the system every single day since it arrived.

Any news about possible DLC for WipEout? I love the game, but other than getting to level 50, I don't have much else to do. I remember hearing about possible Fury/HD tracks coming as DLC.....

More crossplay tracks are coming as DLC (free for those who own HD/Fury on PS3). They plan on patching in stuff they didn't have time for, like custom controls, the AR museum and "new features and new ways to play" (presumably racebox). Sounds like there could be some paid DLC too, most likely new tracks.

So, I got my Vita today. Unless I'm missing it, is the Gravity Rush demo not up on PSN?

Pretty lame considering it's on all the demo units in stores.

yes they are targeting spring for the Fury/HD DLC. If you already own them on PS3, it will be for free too on Vita.

It's not up on NA PSN because... I don't know. SCEA is the most wonderful Sony branch.
SCEA is very hard to understand.
I think it is for Europe. It is for sure for Japan and Hong Kong.

EDIT:
not on EU sadly... u gotta grab it from the HK store (in english) for now.
It's not up in Europe.
Oh SCEE are jerks too I guess. Thank you for the information.

Just got a Vita today and that screen is pure sex! Bought all the Ys games from psn and I'll get stardust later this week. Loving the system so far.

The learning the game is what I did with Football and Madden, back in the PS2 era they had a feature where it actually taught you the plays and such. And to a lesser extent Baseball with the Show

Thanks for the input, do Vita owners (or PS3) owners have a "advantage" against the other system in anyway?

Is there a Sumioni demo in the US PS Store ?

I'd recommand you to try it before buying the game. I tried the JP demo months ago and thought it was an expensive $1 iOS game for Vita.

You may/will have to re-setup your system, including redownload stuff. I would hold off until the April update and see what needs to be done.

Dylan Cuthbert mentioned that PJ Monster will be Vita compatible (in EU) in an April firmware update. e.g., http://www.sonypsvitablog.com/post/new-ps-vita-update-in-april/

Anybody notice the cartridge slot actually has a LED next to it? It blinks when the cart is being accessed, but it is normally completely hidden behind the cover. Really odd...

During loading, I open it and look at the blinking light. I don't know why, I just do

Probably there to tell you not to remove the card if you was going to, kinda glad it's hidden away, PSP 1/2/3 had an annoying flashing light.

Asked in the FF deal thread, but I'll ask here too. I have a vita, but no PS3. Is there any way I can buy PSone games on PSN (to take advantage of the deal pricing) in anticipation of eventual vita compatibility?

You can use MediaGo, I think.

Does the Vita officially support changing cards while it is powered on? The 3DS doesn't according to the manual, still people do it without problems.

I bought my vita 2-3 days ago and i've got some question about how it actually work.

When your vita is in sleep/standby mode do you stay connected/visible to other people in your friend list?
The same question goes for when you play a game...

I realised that every time i leave my friend list and go back later to see who's online, they seem to "reconnect" to the psn/friendlist everytime.

Also i would like to know if everytime im online on my vita, im also online in my friendlist by default?

Thanx for your help.

Correct. I'm not sure I'd risk it though, in case Sony decide against adding that functionality for whatever reason. Unlikely I'm sure, but best to be safe!

Sumioni impressions:

Got my first (bad) ending in about 30 minutes (that´s including the 5 minutes text cutscene in the beginning).

It´s a good game, albeit repetitive combat wise. The artstyle is good, but the backgrounds are pretty bland.

There are 6 different endings (and 30 stages), but I dont know if I should recommend it at the asking price ($20).

I am enjoying it quite a bit, anyway. If you have any questions, please let me know.

So I bought my vita on day one but other than Uncharted I haven't touched it so I've been looking in to the great psp games I have missed and I see a lot of them are only £7.99 on the psn store. I can't find Monster Hunter on the EU store but I saw Gods Eater Burst is up on there and I think that's a decent game right?
Wondering if the controls are any better with the second analog stick.
