Yes! I went to the clinic today and we talked some and the doctor ended suggesting birth control since my period's been a little... out of order lately. So he gave me a sample and a prescription for Alesse which I think I'm going to try out. If that doesn't sort things out then I guess I'll have to see someone else (probably my family physician once I get home).

No. I did mention the pain but I forgot to say something about the vomitting. I am recovering from a stomach thing from last week though and I've been know to be sick due to my cycle before though...

A lot of people also don't know that anti-biotics (and I think some other medications) can mess with your birth control pills. Like, there was an episode of 16 and Pregnant where that happened to a girl (also one where she just started taking them and had unprotected sex like a couple of days into taking them) and I figured it was just teenagers that don't know, but a lot of educated adults don't know it either o_o.

Wow seriously? Everytime I've been prescribed antibiotics the doctor looks at my file, sees I'm on the pill, and reminds me it won't be effective until a week after I stop taking the antibiotics. Its also written on the box! Reaadd the box!

Aw Devolution, your post made me sad. I think my mom actually may feel that way to a degree (especially the abortion part). Its scary, the older I get the more right-wing she becomes. She still loves me and my sisters, but she's kind of anti-women. Like the other day, she said she doesn't like women sportscasters or preachers. Does anybody else have experience with anti-women women?

My mom is like the pro-woman woman so no, that must kind of suck =(. The only anti-women women I have exposure to are conservatives on TV.

I went to college in missouri and it was filled to brim with women who literally hated themselves because they were women and would just say the craziest shit and it astounded me. I don't know what the sex equivalent of an uncle tom type is but, there were just tons. One girl on my dorm floor never wanted to go to college because she said she already knew how to cook and women weren't supposed to be educated, but her dad made her. I was literally dumbfounded. I had no clue what to say to that.

I don't remember what she majored in, she said she was getting a mommy degree or something (it had some joke acronym). She got pregnant and dropped out second semester freshman year and tried to take her roommates laptop (the drama was insane) when she moved out. Shes posted two pictures of her kid on facebook since then, 20 or so of her 5 since then boyfriends, and literally around a hundred of all her new tattoos.

I mean, not everyone needs to go to college, but have some fucking ambition. It your life.
I don't have any problem with people who want to be a parent/homemaker (not... that this girl sounds like she actually made a home for herself...) But what I DO have a problem with is people like her who say women shouldn't be educated and should stay at home where they belong! Fuck that.
Now, I've never met anyone who actually held such sentiments in seriousness (to my knowledge.) It's more of a read about them/seen them on TV sort of thing. I don't know what I'd do if I met such a person in real life.

My feminism can be trimmed down to two words really: choice and equality. I don't care if a woman chooses to be a homemaker but it should be an option, not the only role she's allowed to fill.
That's exactly it. People shouldn't be putting these limitations on others because people just aren't the same across the board. What works for one might not work for another. And probably WON'T. Even among people who want to do similar things there are all sorts of degrees. People, all people, should be allowed to choose the path that fits them best, whatever that might be.

Never met any really anti-women women, but I have met a few who were incredibly... naive when it came to women and relationships nowadays, and these were girls around my age. One girl, 20, after asking how long my partner "had been courting" me for, (answer at the time was 2 years) she asked if we'd kissed yet. Kind of adorable, in a way.
It really depends on the household, but if it works well for them, great! I know our government changed maternity leave to paid parental leave recently. Though based on recent trends you'd be lucky to be living on a single income.

I find that with stereotypes like this it's better to just take it upon yourself to troll with them, because you can sooner realize just how absurd those things are and it'll bother you less.
For example, as a Mexican I've had the stuff thrown at me that I'm a lazy, dirty, truck driving, lawn mower pushing, smelly, poor, drunk, dropout that hangs out with the homeboys on the street.
That....is definitely not an accurate description of me (though some apply
). But because I know these are absurd, I don't let them bother me one bit. Hell, I even end up thinking stuff like this is ridiculously funny, even though it's incredibly racist. There was the cover of a recent Time magazine about this very subject if you want to give it a read. I didn't go beyond what I could read at the supermarket line, but apparently in lower end jobs (which is still a huge percentage of people) women are finally out earning men, and there are a greater number of men being homemakers (my dad is an example of this!). In higher end jobs I can't remember the exact amount but women are still making less than men (88 cents to the dollar? Someone's gotta know) so the glass ceiling still exists, but times, they are a changing.

Same here.
I was born in the early 80s and even though being a career oriented woman was becoming more common, my mom decided she was done working and was going to be a homemaker full time. She was fantastic at it but was looked down on by other women, even friends, for not charging into the workforce like the empowered woman she was supposed to be. Too often it seems women are in no-win situations like this.
Pro tip: Making your own choices for your life is true empowerment.
I think it's awesome, and see no reason why this can't be a normal thing (it is technically an option, but it's not exactly socially accepted.) Especially with young children, if a guy isn't as career oriented as his partner, I don't see why he shouldn't stay home and take care of them.

I guess, but I don't know of any women where I live that think like the ones SteveWinwood mentioned. Its surprising to me that in this day and age there are still women like that, especially in a country like US that still think women should stay at home.
