Wii U Speculation Thread The Third: Casting Dreams in The Castle of Miyamoto

An amazing idea for the Wii U screen. You could use it to display exclusive developer interviews! I've even done a mock-up!

Everybody else, learn from this Junior, who is doing it more right than anybody else who's invoked the devint meme.

Holy crap! Today's real megaton is that more than two people can have the same first name.
Wii Speculation Thread 4: What's Wrong Wii U?

With inevitable pic of shiny-chin Reggie.

And release this crazy onto GAF for a week?
Are you nuts?!

Well i'm just saying hold onto the thread and Wii U news for a week, so you know we actually have something to talk about for a couple days and not just us going in circles..just a suggestion. No need to take it to heart or anything, do what you want really.

It's best to keep it flowing, or else people might not realize it exists. Besides, we'll go in circles regardless.

What really bugs me about that Kojima quote, is that Metal Gear wouldn't have even EXISTED if Kojima hadn't made it for the MSX. The way that architecture worked, it could not display scrolling levels so he had some come up with some way to build gameplay around that difference. That's where some of the stealth aspect was born in the original MG. You had to walk to the next screen to get away from enemies and then hide, etc.

Every other popular system at the time could do this, the NES for one, but no, Kojima got creative, and decided to build something unique around an existing piece of hardware. And make Konami's biggest franchise.

But yeah, ignore the latest Nintendo console for another generation, and just keep pumping out more metal gears that are just ludicrously more expensive that have better graphics and little else to show for it.

He probably doesn't like to think, given by the plots in his games...

This is a big problem with developers these days, honestly.
They don't work out creative solutions to problems, they just demand more powerful hardware so they can do things easily.
It's really killing a lot of the joy in games.

Konami: I endorse this product

I mean, I enjoyed MGS4 a lot. Thought it was a great experience. But the gameplay was severely lacking.

I just recently re-watched all the cutscenes of MGS4 (and by recently, I mean yesterday) and whoever uploaded them all added some gameplay segments. And gameplay wise, MGS4 is the worst one, I think. If you just spend time and money crafting a super awesome cutsom rifle, you can just mow down every boss and enemy, and the game just de-evolves into a really bland TPS.

I really, really wish Kojima would make a built-from-the-ground-up MGS or a new IP of some sort, and just use every feature the WiiU has.

Uhh, that's not true. Metal Gear 1 & 2 were for the MSX2, not the MSX 1. And the MSX2 could do scrolling just fine.

However, Metal Gear wouldn't have been famous if it wasn't for the NES adaptation, which is the one most people played.

Read a short chat with the guy that did the NES port and how Kojima hates it, even though it's the sole reason why MG even had a sequel.

I can't believe folks are planning for a 4th speculation thread.. we've almost gone a full year.. without any major information.. but have done nearly 60k posts on it?
