Wii U Speculation Thread The Third: Casting Dreams in The Castle of Miyamoto

I know that reducing the instruction into multiple steps helps performance, does this apply to IO vs OoO?

Is executing OoO faster than IO generally?

Generally yes simply because if it can't reorder anything it will execute in order, but the compiler plays a big role in that. If you really want to know more there's a good (old) paper on it. OoOE vs. SMT. Please note that it is 14 years old but the basic problem still applies.

I'm always sitting on something. But generally it's stuff that I don't understand (most technical mumbo jumbo) and would have a hard time relating, something I just don't have enough confidence in repeating, or things that would identify the people who told me.

It's mostly all just whispers here and there. Someone I know will say something like "I don't have direct access to the devkits, but the people who do told me this." Or "There was a staff meeting where so-and-so expressed frustrations with ____." Stuff like that.

It's an interesting position to be in, because even if someone is 100% telling you the truth, and even if everything they say is 100% true at the time, it's not always guaranteed to come to fruition. I am absolutely confident that Contra and Castlevania 3DS existed at one point, but Konami has not announced them or canceled them for whatever reason. Or like that set of TGS rumors from last year where literally everything came true, except Bayonetta 2.

So I try not to directly talk about games because, until it's announced, it does not exist. Hardware is generally less fluid. There are devkit revisions and such, but it seems unlikely that it will change that much.

But to answer your questions, if I am sitting on something, it's generally for a good reason.
For the bold, it's probably just to spite you :p

Anyway thanks for the answer. Just interesting is all.

Those are three of my most anticipated games. I really hope they aren't cancelled.

I hate being reminded that I won't see the next step Castlevania would take after Order of Ecclesia. It saddens me.

How come?

Mainly because I think IGA (Or whoever came up with the gameplay system in place for OOE) had some pretty nifty ideas. It would be great to get a Castlevania that's an evolution of OOE with good level design on top of that.

Also, I get sad.

My source is my ass!
The problem lies in that this is still just a forum. Any news that sites are using is now third hand at best, which in the normal world, would be dismissed out right.
Nothing against IdeaMan or Alberto, but they have stated over and over that they don't have 100% of the info or even close, and that a lot of what they say can't be taken as gosspil. Sites using their posts as news is rather pathetic at this point.

Hey there :)

btw, thanks to the regulars that have, again, explained to 2/3 gafers how i tried to make my info legit a few page backs, it's like a cycle lol, a bit tiresome.

For the Ace quote, well, they can relay the data, but they should cite the source and above all, describe all the context/parameters, repeat the cautious forewords, etc. A lot of them aren't doing that. I know that a pretty long text talking about how someone gathered his info, from who, etc, isn't as sexy as a "Wii U iz 3x Xbox360 !!!" one-liner/catch-phrase, but still, it's important, and the main part of their readers are interested and smart enough to read it, don't underestimate the attention your audience is capable of, yeah, i'm talking to you, the web-journalist behind your screen !

This might have already been said, but concerning the lack of WiiU announcements during the Capcom reveals, Im wondering if Nintendo has pushed some publishers to not put out ports, but reveal new franchises for the console.

I don't get GAF's 60fps fetish.
Neither do most gamers it seems.

60FPS is too awesome. All that I want out of Wii U is all current-gen games at 720p 60FPS and I'm fine.

My take continues to be this...

super-mario-galaxy-20071002025240226.jpg

plus this...

wii-u_470x324.jpg

will get us closer to this...

With extra emphasis on closer.
New undies time.

I put my iPad in a gallon-size Ziploc bag and then hang it in the shower so that I can surf GAF while I'm washing-up.

You know.. just in case Wii U news breaks in that time frame. Don't wanna miss it!
The scary thing is that I could believe that HT :p

Holy crap! Today's real megaton is that more than two people can have the same first name.
They can't keep the name Wii U, it will just cause confusion, just like the 3DS got when it launched.

Don't do the same mistake, Nintendo!

I don't think it will be as bad as the Nintendo 3DS confusion. In fact, in this case, not being able to buy the padlet seperately may be a very good move. It would put a stop to people trying to get it working with their old Wii.

I don't know for Capcom, but they certainly didn't pushed some other publishers to avoid developing ports or "extended" ports (versions including efforts to use the Wii U particularities).

Actually, from what i've heard, it's more the contrary.

Or...they told them to wait until E3. We haven't gotten ANY Wii U game announcements since last E3

They are keeping the Wii name, even if Wii U get's axed. There is 0% chance they abandon a brand with that type of consumer appeal. So there would still allegedly be brand confusion if they call it Wii U, Wii 2, Wii Stream, Wii HD, Wii whatever.

They need to nail the marketing both via media AND in the retail stores. If they fuck up again and have giant posters with "What Wii is for you" and picture of the systems side-by-side.... well there is no hope for NoA.

The Wii U will have enough power to render protagonists with actual hair, unlike XBOX360/PS3 which feature an onslaught of bald marines.

I'm sorry, but Nintendo is doomed !

Because of Dragon Ball Z for Kinect announcement.

My dreams of really mimicking a Kamehameha come true !!

Well, i guess it will be possible on Wii U (put the Wii-Remote compatibility aside) if i hold firmly the padlet, shake it near me, then move it suddenly toward the TV. Of course, like a Rösti post remind me of, a strap is a must-in to avoid breaking inadvertently and the DRC, and the main screen :p

I think they could get away with the Wii U name. Having another white console with the same white and blue branding that the Wii launched with will cause more confusion.

Even just changing the secondary logo/packaging color from blue to amber (along with the drive light) would make a big difference.

Truth.

The writing was on the wall when no 1:1 Star Wars lightsaber game came to fruition. Now this, Nintendo is losing it's grip on teh industry!!!

Troll logic:

They wont bring Waverace, because that isnt CASUAL!!!!

It will be Wii Play U Waterball Extravaganza with DC graphics!!

Nintendofans logic:

Propably just a Story like "How Myiamoto came up with Super Mario" or something like that!

I know, right? It was already splendiferous enough on the lil' ol' Wii.. imagine what the uber-Wii will be able to do with that kind of subject material!

Endless Ocean 3: Revenge for Steve Irwin

with a sticker slapped onto it "Now with Weapons and Blood!"

R.I.P Steve Irwin. Too soon?

Nope.

Steel Diver II: Dive Deeper.

Wii U launch title.

Uses the tablet as the persicope.

Believe!

I will not!

I'm surprised they could pull that off on the Wii. The water, will look so beautiful, because Nintendo are gods when it comes to water. GET EXCITE!

Wasn't there a rumor a while back about Miyamoto making a mermaid game? I swear I heard this on these boards.

http://www.gamespot.com/news/miyamoto-teases-new-nintendo-character-6267849

Pikmin featured a diminutive alien stranded on earth, marshalling the forces of sentient plants to help him repair his spaceship. It was famously inspired by Miyamoto's gardening hobby at the time. Perhaps giving some clue as to his next effort, the developer said at the shareholder's meeting that his current hobby is swimming, and it has him very active working with youth in the community.

That sky blue color is the one used in Wii.
I believe that is #34beed (R:52 G: 190 B: 237) whereas the color used, though not as a unified element, as background in the Edge magazine is #00aaff (R: 0 G: 170 B: 255); of course this is just an RGB value, print is CMYK and I don't have a chromatography system nor the magazine itself for that. I don't think what color used has any significance.

Regardless of what it is, an interview with Mr. Miyamoto is always nice, so I'm looking forward to Edge's article.
