NPD March 2012 Sales Results [Up3: ME3 Total, Binary Domain]

COD on vita wont do crap, cod comes on every platform imaginable. Hell they would port it to your watch if they could.

Sony is in PSP mode. I don't know the last time they provided PSP numbers, why would htat change with a system doing no better? If something does shitty, they don't let anything out or even make reference to some jump or percentage. I would be surprised if anything Vita related ever came out, outside of maybe holiday numbers (and those probably vague PR) and financial reports. They don't want to advertise the biggest bomb of a launch period from a major videogame company since Saturn.

Sigh. As sad as it is that it is likely a Dreamcast level flop (it's a great piece of hardware), it would be interesting to watch its sales decline.

Anyways, with the RE brand still strong RE6 should do really well.

I wonder if CoD:BO2 will have a weak launch this year,

Slant Six was noting that whether or not they patched the game was Capcom's choice, so I'm guessing Capcom is done with them.

That said, I think they will feel that this is a strong proof of concept and another Western developer will get the series.

No patch? That's messed because as it stands the MP is damn near unplayable due to the amount of bugs present.

The concept behind the game is great and I would be interested in seeing a good dev take a crack at it but I wonder if gamers would give an ORC2 a chance.

Gamers really are braindead sheep aren't they?

RE:ORC? Seriously people? Seriously?

I thought it had a really good marketing campaign. For those people who do not actually look into the quality of the product they are buying, I can see how a lot of saps would have snatched it up. Then you have a pretty large Resident Evil fanbase and a lot of those people will buy it whether it is shit or not.

Willing to guess that Mass Effect 3 (X360) got the top spot. Assuming that Kid Icarus (3DS) is somewhere between 7-10. Everything else is a reach for me.

i'm gonna go with

1 me2 360
2 REorc 360
3 me2 ps3
4 reorc ps3
5 mlb show ps3
6 mp9 wii
7 ssx 360
8 kI 3ds
9 nba 360
10 mlb 360

but they're pretty much just a shot in the dark

I wonder how much more ME3 would've sold had they had the title on Steam? I ask because I'm one of the many folks who won't buy it unless it's on Steam and we all know they sell a ton of copies (sales or no sales) on Steam.

WiiU can't come soon enough for the industry.
The well is drying...
down YOY a lot of late.

And lol at the Kid Icarus comment despite it actually seemingly selling well

The Wii U will not save the game industry. The Wii could have, but the industry turned its back on it (Wii) and now it (game industry) will die.

Or the opposite... people will buy this Resident Evil, see thats its no longer resident evil, and its terrible. These people will not want to risk it with Resident Evil 6

Huh? So you're saying we can calculate the Vita numbers from Nintendo's press release?

Depends if Nintendo gives out their PR with some percentage

They will also give out data that also contains the competition (from places like NPD) during thier investor meeting. So you might have to wait for that.

Probably 10-50k, not that it would be tracked by NPD anyway.

Think Nintendo is holding these figures back since they have the investor's meeting in a couple weeks? Make a bigger bang then rather than now?

It's only been an hour and a half since the numbers were released, they could release some notes later or tomorrow.

I can't even explain RE:ORC's numbers. I guess people was salivating for a new RE game? In any case, this means Slant Six will make more RE games. I can't see how that could be anything but a negative.

Capcom was initially expecting 2.5M for Raccoon City. They later reduced that to 2M (for the fiscal year) once the game was pushed back. There's no way they reach 2M shipped by the end of March with these NPD numbers, unless they flooded retail with a gargantuan amount of copies that will be quickly discounted.

And SFxT was expected to ship 2M by the end of March as well. Again, not a chance.

This was a bad month for Capcom.

What bang are you expecting? Wii is likely to be significantly down. As is NDS. The 3DS is doing far better than the Vita presumably. Not sure if that's supposed to be the bang.
Huh? So you're saying we can calculate the Vita numbers from Nintendo's press release? If not, is Pachter the only chance we have of getting the numbers? How likely is he to release the Vita number?

Can find out the number from Iwata's investor presentation. It will have NPD graphs.

Oh god he's back.

Was there something wrong with what I said? Mario Party 9 and Kid Icarus sold well, so you would think that they'd give PR. The fact that they didn't can only mean that hardware sales are so bad that even those two can't spin it into a good month.

One thing we can pretty much say for sure is that 3DS didn't cross the 4.75 million mark, since they would have mentioned that at least.

Agreed. I think word of mouth is going to hurt Raccoon City's longevity. I don't expect to see it on the chart for April. Same for SFxT.

Please someone, make it stop.

In a list of the top 10 SKU’s for the month (as opposed to top titles as listed here), 3DS Kids Icarus: Uprising would have been among the top selling individual SKU’s for the month of March.
Awesome! The game deserves all the sales it gets.

Sony's on the phone reminding them about the gentleman's agreement they had over drinks last week.

"You won't kick Vita when it's down man will you? It hasn't done anything to you!"

Maybe they just haven't yet? Ever consider that?

Or should we wait two minutes for you to make a complete opposite prediction like you usually do.

They always release it by now. I've never seen them wait so long. They didn't do it for December or January, so it wouldn't be shocking.

Or, and bare with me here, they just haven't got round to release the PR yet! Shock, I know. :p

Additionally both games have been heavily advertised. ORC especially, the ads were almost nonstop through March. Even RE5 wasn't pushed as hard, I doubt this was cheap.

Cool to see NUNS Generations sell well!! 1 and 2 didn't sell well if I remember right.

Don't know about one, but I'm pretty certain Storm 2 sold well. It just didn't chart because it was a Fall release, when the competition is stiffer.

Sometimes death is far more humane.

Eh. I'd agree if they were pumping out bad game after bad game every year, but I don't think SSX should be put to bed because of one reboot. At least see where a sequel goes first.

with assumedly high dev costs, definately high marketing cost its quite likely capcpom could end up losing money here

nintendo PR said:
Nintendo notes several "noteworthy milestones" in March. Mario Party 9 sold more than 230,000 units in the United States, while Kid Icarus Uprising sold more than 135,000. Mario Kart 7 sold 118,000 units in March (with 1.58 million sold since its release last year), and Super Mario 3D Land sold 100,000 units in March, putting overall sales at 1.98 million.

Nintendo added that more than 225,000 3DS systems were sold in March, in addition to nearly 175,000 Wii systems. In addition, the Just Dance franchise has now passed more than 15 million total units sold on Wii.
