Star Wars: The Old Republic |OT| EA: "Let's blow this thing and go home!"

Free trial the day after a major patch? What? Who thought that was a good idea? I'm sure the game will be buggy for a week at least. That's not a good way to encourage former players to resub.

Anyways... I stopped playing after the free month. It was a fun game from 1-50, but I got frustrated with parts of the game and decided to wait until the first major patch addressed any of them.

These are the major issues I had when I left the game in January. Has any of this changed?

-combat/input lag
-no mouseover function (for healing)
-lack of endgame in general/PvE content too easy
-UI issues (pretty sure that has been addressed this patch)

Either way.. I'll probably load the game up this free week and see for myself.

Looked about the same to me, including the horrendous lack of AA that turned me off the game originally.

What card do you have, the in game AA still doesn't seem to be working on AMD 6900 level cards. You just have to force it on the card from outside the game.

Edit: Damn, looks like the game will down for another 6 hours or so, guess I don't need to try and leave early.

We are expecting the #SWTOR servers to be available again at 6:00PM CDT (12:00AM BST, 1:00AM CEST, 9:00AM AEST).

UPDATE: 10:53AM CDT

During last night's maintenance, some areas of the game were reverted to pre-Game Update 1.2 status. Some areas were 'missing' and characters that were in those areas would be unavailable. We took the live servers offline at approx 9:30AM CDT (Austin time).

Our server and deployment teams are now working to rebuild assets for the live servers, but this is unfortunately not a quick process. We currently estimate that our downtime could be up to eight hours, but that time may be extended.

We are expecting the servers to be available again at 6:00PM CDT (April 14th, 12:00AM BST, 1:00AM CEST, 9:00AM AEST). We'll update you with information in this thread when we have it.

We sincerely apologize for the unexpected downtime today. We’ll update you with more details later.

Thank you for your patience while we work to resolve this issue.

Looks like it's going to be a good while before the servers come back up.

Do you have a Radeon 6900 by chance? There was a known issue posted a while ago stating that AA didn't work with that series of video card and that they'd fix it in the future.

Edit: see here - http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=5533

Also try turning AA off and back on again. It seems like sometimes the settings can get out of sync with what is actually happening. Check your client_settings.ini to make sure (I think you can even set it higher in there)

What I find "funny" about the situation is for the last few days I've been telling my guild they are sadists if they expect to be able to run new content on a patch day based on my vast mmo expeience, blah blah blah

Then I played last night and everything was smooth, I was totally ready to eat crow

Haha I was just thinking the same thing. Last night before the follow-up patch was surprisingly free of trouble (other than the audio issue on Fleet).

Guess we spoke too soon.

I play on a laptop (hence the weird resolution). Mobility Radeon HD 5650. I tried forcing AA through my videocard back in January before 1.1, it either made my game crash or did nothing.

I guess I will try updating the graphics settings to see if it "resets" it after the servers are back up, but unless it changes it's basically unplayable for me due to the flickering and shimmering.

Haha,

I bet Bioware's office is like the scene in Apollo 13 when the head guy goes wants some information on what is going on and everyone throws their hands up saying they don't know or didn't do it?

Can't abandon the "Settling Accounts" for my BH as well, funny part is that I'm now half-way into chapter 2...
But because of that the loading screen still taunts me about Taro Blood, even tho
I left him to rot in that cell on the Alliance Ship, haha !

I noticed this as well. Effects like smoke, particles, and laser shots also look better now.

I will third this. Definitely looks better on my laptop running a GT 555M. Also is it just me or is everything performing better now? I haven't run fraps or anything, but I actually turned up my graphical settings, but to my naked eye, the fps looks better than when I had it on lower settings.

P.S. I also noticed that they allowed the abandoning of previously glitched bonus quests and the like. No more annoying crap in my quest tracker!

Nooooo, maintenance!! On another note, I ran my last warzone from last night through a combat log via Ask Mr. Robot and it looks really slick. Very nicely done, the best website parser I've seen so far. I'm not sure if you can share the data but I'll try.

Here's the link - Combat log parse

Hold on, friend! I'd love to share with you some swell news about the Windows 8 Metro UI! Wait, where are you going?

It's looking better but the sound is worse. At least 2 of my Gunslinger attacks have very strange stuttery sounds now. Unfortunately it's the 2 I use most often :/

Overall the patch has been very cool, so much stuff I haven't had time to really delve into any 1 thing. Finally managed to do Kaon Under Siege for the first time in preparation for doing Lost Island. By the time we finished Kaon it was too late to do LI but we did jump in there to look around, the area was very impressive looking.

The new dailies are pretty generic for the most part but the quest that had you avoiding the motion detectors was pretty cool as was the last boss fight in the 4 man heroic.

Unfortunately I spent all my money just before the patch on crystals so I haven't had a chance to check out any of the legacy stuff you have to pay for.

We tried the new OP last night on my guild, the sorceror healing changes on Azura knocked me for 6 a bit but me and the other healer tried to work around it.

We tried the strats for the first boss online but didnt really get anywhere, I decided to make a new strat up and we beat it second attempt using it (would have probably done it first attempt if I hadn't double hit consumption thinking I was gonna get a freebie force regen...)

We got 3 Rakata items (Inquis belt, Agent implant, bounty hunter chest) and we got 2 black hole comms each, we found a chest after a few trash mobs and got 4 black h comms from that each.

I love that SWTOR downtime is always shorter than expected. It always surprises me. Coming from WoW, I expect downtime to last much longer than the released schedule.

I'm trying to do all my Flashpoints up to The Foundry solo. Yesterday I started with the Esseles, but I accidentally clicked Hard Mode. Now it won't let me switch to Normal no matter how many times I abandon or reset. When I choose Normal, the entrance is purple, seemingly allowing me to go in, but when I try to enter it gives me an error saying that another difficulty is already selected.

Help!

You can always find patch notes here: http://www.swtor.com/patchnotes

As for set bonus transfers, it only works with the new Campaign and (possibly) Black Hole armors. It does not work with Tionese/Columi/Rakata or Centurion/Champion/Battlemaster(?). See: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=399000
I really wish they clarified that in the patch notes. I wasted 500k last night on moving to augmented orange gear.. Will cost me to fix now. What was the point of the restrictions? It's not like the set bonus is different.
