Because someone asked for this

Yeah, this one was a pretty good episode, loli valentine was pretty cute, and at least we get some more character development to her beyond "I like money but am always gambling it away". The big question about her, obviously, is the accident she was in
and why she got cryo'd.

Speaking of Ikuhara pose, this is kinda related. (I am not taking credit for noticing this)

The director for Ep.01 of Lupin was Toru Takahashi, from the Ikuhara/Utena school of directors. It might be a bit of a stretch but who cares.

I'm sure no one cares (I don't) but there is a possibility that a scene in Accel World Episode 3 might be Nice Boat-ed.

http://yaraon.blog109.fc2.com/blog-entry-8895.html

Recently there was an incident in Kyoto where some dude went nuts and ran over a bunch of people killing 6 or so. Apparently there is a scene in Accel World depicting someone getting run over by a car so they are saying that it might get cut or not shown at all lest people get upset.

My sympathies go out to the family and friends of the victims.

I always found editing things out due to recent events to be kind of stupid.
Sorry for the tragedy, but an artists vision should not be compromised to avoid upsetting people. I feel like it cheapens the work overall.

Because to be an alternate
to the sex scene in the VN to 'restore' Saber's prana levels. IIRC, the all ages Realta Nua version of the VN also did this.

Wow. Sometimes I forget how classy Fate/Zero is compared to other other Fate works, but this brings it all back!

Speaking of Accel World, but on a lighter subject. I watched episode one and two recently and even though the show isn't terrible, something really bugged me about it. Well, besides the main characters design; however it's related.

In one scene we see our MC in the bathroom washing his hands. Nothing too weird, but when you look at the position of the sinks, they are perfectly suited to his height. This wouldn't seem off if not for every other character being roughly twice his height.

So this means that everyone has to reach down to about their knees to wash their hands...

Poorly conceived background art isn't nitpicking.

The Girl Who Leapt Through Time

Went into this having known nothing except what the title told me and I gotta say, I wasn't expecting it to be that good. Despite its sci-fi that the title would prompt one to believe, there's a strong human element to be found in almost every character. The character design is almost too simple at times but it's never to the movie's detriment. The environments are to the point, very to the point. I especially liked the constant 180 degree planes in the environment that accompanied the characters at times. Almost as if they were a metaphor for time itself. I listened to the English dub which was very strong and I almost teared up especially at the end when
Makoto started bawling at the disappearance of Chiaki.
The casting team did a good job picking the voices for this. This movie gets a 4 out of 5.

Disappointed by this. First few episodes were great and had some good fights, then it turned into a babysitting fiasco 3/4 of the time with very little going on...

So I am not crazy? Good to hear.

It just really irked me. It was also a missed character development opportunity to further demonstrate how out of place he is in this environment. I can imagine the scene playing out so much better if we were to see him having to reach up to wash his hands and not being able to look in the mirror. Ok, now I sound crazy...

Who will stand up for the sanctity of Accel World's artistic vision?

Everything about the perspective in the bathroom shot is really off. I included a nearly identical screenshot in my impressions just because I thought it looked weird but I never picked up on the fact that the sink was perfect for his height.

[Space Brothers – 3]

They clearly aren't in a big rush to get this story underway as there isn't much going on right now apart from introducing characters and telling us that Muttan really wants to go into space. There's nothing wrong with that, of course, because this was still an enjoyable episode it's just a change of pace after watching so many 11 episode shows that move much faster.

Glad to see another fan of this excellent movie. One of my favorite anime movies, up there with Millenium Actress and Ghibli films.

Oh, that's cruel :(

Background art is difficult to get right. I just spent several hours working on a single background image of a cafe balcony looking out over a city street and I'm still trying to just get the perspective right, let alone the details. It's a bitch to do good backgrounds. I respect anyone who can even attempt it.

The tone of this show is completely off-putting to me. It presents itself on every level as a creepy/dramatic ghost show, but then at the last second it pulls back this veil and is like, "Psyche! This is a comedy, hahahahahahahaha." Scenes play out with what appears to be a very specific dramatic intent but always end on these flat jokes that feel completely out of place.

Visually this show is also all over the place. There are weird techniques like black bars filling the screen disproportionally to cut out the background, but there is no clear reason for the effect to be used in the context of the shot. There are all sorts of visual effects and cuts that show up, and sometimes they're kind of cool, but they rarely have any place and they mostly just wind up feeling experimental. Even the ones that do work, like the quick cuts being transitioned by the ghost passing in front of the camera wind up feeling overdone and amateurish.

So I'm not really sure what this show is trying to be on multiple fronts, and the only thing that seems to come across is the ghost sexualization, which isn't even handled uniquely enough to warrant the ghost aspect. At least the girl is likeable I guess.

The only thing this has going on for it are Medaka's boobs. There's nothing in this episode that wasn't covered in the two before it, and all of the jokes are the same old trite anime has been plagued with since last decade.

Medaka Box is like watching a snuff film of one of your childhood role models, probably involving asphyxiation and fecal matter. Oh, poor poor GAINAX. I shall miss you, even if I do not wish for your resurrection.

They aren't at fault because the art is necessarily badly drawn, it just doesn't even make sense in concept because the sink would never be that low.

This might not actually be an error. If you notice in that screen, there is only one sink where he is washing his hands. Usually in a public toilet, there is a whole row of sinks. This could be a single one built for younger kids or those with disabilities (or people like the MC), while the normal row of sinks is opposite that and not in view of the camera. Everything else is relatively proportional, including the door, so this isn't the sort of error which is normally made.

You have to stop actively looking for something to hate in these early episodes. Either read the manga or wait til its further along. If you look for something to hate you'll find it. Thats the way it was setup for the benefit of later arcs.

Giving them too much credit. The difference in artsyle between the MC and the other characters make it easy to make those type of mistakes. Unless MC is the first intentional "small person" MC in history.

Eh, from this shot it appears that there's a second sink at the same level behind the MC, judging by the position of the mirror, and the toilets opposite the sinks appear to go all the way to the wall. Nice thought though.

There is a single sink behind him that looks more like it's for utility purposes, around the same height and between a locker and a urinal without a mirror.

The mirror height isn't unusual, and I can't actually see the second sink behind the main character. Maybe it's higher up and the mirrors are just in the fixed position! You're probably right though. :(

As far as the toilets opposite the sinks go, I think that there are more serious design issues here if the toilet stalls go all the way up against the wall and the door opens the way it does. The odds of anyone designing a toilet like that is 0. Especially for a public school.

Need photographic proof! :D

It wasn't particularly well-made either. I'm gonna give it the benefit of doubt and assume most of what was shown on-screen was lifted straight from the manga panels, but a lot of the episode was Shot A/Shot B face transitions. It was boring to look at because the episode was very dialogue-heavy, added to the already awful character art.
The last manga I read from start to finish was Rurouni Kenshin, unless you count h-manga.
