Star Wars: The Old Republic |OT| EA: "Let's blow this thing and go home!"

I was pretty impressed with the changes in 1.2 that I saw during my free week. I still don't know if I will resub yet but it all left a positive impression.

Are healer operatives viable in PVP/PVE or should I just stick to the middle tree?

It's alright but since 1.2 patch I find it's very hard to keep people alive when they are being gank by team of Marauder / Jugg.

I roll a Sith Assassin and I don't think I will be going back to my Operative.

To be honest, healer operatives are probably the best when it comes to pure healing (and their ability to stealth/vanish so they aren't focused immediately) and surviving. Mercs still win the most annoying "lol 15s god mode" award and sorcs are still the best all around healers with shizz like barrier, pull, and dat aoe.

Nasty bug just happened to my Jedi Knight starting the final quest and now im stuck. Went to do another part of the quest first, got killed and respawned to the nearest medidroid only to be stuck behind a ray shield with no chance to get out, cant rephase, cant use quick travel, hopefully fleet pass will work when it counts down.

Join a Warzone, that can sometimes fix things. If not, I hope you don't take this the wrong way but since you don't specify in your post, have you tried the /stuck command? Might get you out of there

Nah warzone didnt work nor did stuck, only way it worked is by waiting for the fleet pass. Once i zipped to the fleet had to fight all the way back through and finish the quest off. Worth it though.

I had something similar happen to me and I contacted customer service. The exact situation was that I was helping somebody with a class mission and I got stuck in the area where it took place (some ship or station in space). I couldn't get past a certain area, and since my friend had finished the class quest he couldn't get back. Contacting CS got me out of there in a jif though, so if that ever happens again you should give it a go. It took them 10 minutes or so to respond to my ticket and get me out of there.

Wow I just blew through about 1.5 million credits buying augmented War Hero gear and augments lol. The 40-45k fee for removing the mods is the real killer :/ Definitely a sweet damage upgrade though in pvp!

Did the same thing last weekend. Moved by BM stuff into augmented war hero gear. Since then I got two proper war hero pieces (gloves and legs) and so i've had to rip those out and move them into the augmented pieces too. The character is close to being broke now. Was worth it though. Nice stat boost, and rather like the look of the Juggernaut war hero set.

Finally putting some time into pvp tonigh since they fixed the nonsense this week. Really liking the new warzone, the turret mechanic is much more fun than the alderaan version.

And pre 50 pvp is still so much better.....

Did create a CS ticket hoping they could do something, but I just got a mail telling me nothing they can do but asked me to keep a loook out on the bug fixes/patch notes. Could be a problem if you only just used your fleet pass though, you can still do PVP but thats as far as it goes. I did spend a couple of 100K on reducing the cooldown time on the legacy fleetpass, only to find out it doesnt alter the countdown in progress only ones after it.

I tried PvP for the first time last night, over 2hrs I got to Valor Rank 10, a bunch of money and won some matches. It was really fun and I despite PvP in other games, I guess being on a server with 200-300 normal helps the queue thing

But I remain clueless on the new Coastal Warzone, can someone give me some tips. With all the others even when my team lost we got some points. I think the Coast one was the only one I ever got 0 anything LOL. If its just a altered version of the one on Alderaan then I guess maybe the other team was THAT much better?

I also realize now I need to get some PvP gear, as a Lvl 40 Commando I was pretty much useless against any melee character

At level 40, you just need to have level appropriate PvE greens/blues from questing or the auction house. The only ones who will really top you are the ones who are already getting level 48/49 purples.

With Novare Coast, you need to have two nodes controlled to get any damage in on the enemy. So if you play it like Civil War, with two protecting a side node and rest hitting mid nonstop, it won't work very well.

I might resub for a month and level an alt through pvp with my roomie. Think I might have enough commendations to buy a full set of early gear at 50 by the time we get there?

Maybe wait until 1.3, when you'll be able to unlock Legacy bonuses that grant extra exp for PVP.

Where'd you pull that date from? I've seen nothing official about a 1.3 patch date...

I am pretty sure they are going to come monthly now, the leaked 1.3-1.5 updates showed that each update will add new things but nothing in the major way 1.2 did. Its more along the lines of planets, storylines, warzones, flashpoints, gear not UI changes, textures, or engine upgrades.

There should be no reason 1.3 and 1.4 take months to get up, I expect to see 1.3 testing probably the 1st week or May

And man is PvP addictive, never realized how fast it moves you up in level, I am starting to come in 4th and 5th which is leagues better than last night when I came in near the bottom

Oh and what's up with legacy weapons not scaling? It's pretty pointless to give a level 14 weapon for a major milestone. That's just dumb.

It's essentially just a purple item. Kinda disappointing I was hoping for more also but oh well. Only thing I wish for is for next legacy power, I want all map open to my family. That would make leveling much faster. Even with speed buff the world is just way too big to transverse ... especially after you done it 2 or 3 times already. They build such an awesome environment too bad they are so empty ... because they are just way too big.

The really stupid part is that they cost so many damn daily commendations. I'd rather just craft or buy gear than spend, what, 200 commendations on a single piece of level 14 gear.

/forehead

Useless. I thought they were like heirlooms.

Legacy items if they scaled would further ruin the economy unless they scaled and stayed shitty compared to what you could buy. Legacy items right now just are temporary use items that are better than most gear you get at those levels. If they scaled they would kill much of the use of any other gear in the game. They would need to make them scale poorly compared to new gear, but then what is the point? You are just going to replace them with better gear anyways

1.3 is probably going to take a while, it's not even on test yet and it does have a major feature in it (lfg).

Has LFG been confirmed for 1.3? 1.2 was in testing for about a month, but we don't know what really is in 1.3 except for the legacy abilities they have previewed in game. But I doubt 1.3 is going to have as much content either, wouldn't be surprised if it's just a new Flashpoint and some new features. Doubt we will be seeing a new operation for a few updates. 1.2 was just way too big and if they are going to get the updates out faster I imagine they are going to be much smaller.

There are a couple of Merc healers on my server who are virtually impossible to kill without 3-4 people on them. I'm not sure if they are wearing tank gear but are spec'd as heals, but their health pool hovers around 19k and they just don't ever die while keeping everyone else alive. Trying to control mid on Civil War is an absolute nightmare.

LFG is supposed to be in 1.3 as of the guild summit (and there's feedback for lfg in the boards atm). 1.3 will have new dailies, flashpoint and operation (plus new companion) if you look at the 1.3 leak on torhead.

Yeah, that was the dumb part. It should be like "starter kit" for your new alt so they can skip all the boring crap at low level.

Despite having a Sent on my original server I never got to do any of the endgame content or most of the latter flashpoints, hardmode or otherwise because the guild I was in was pretty small and never grew into anything big.

So I'm curious, how active are the Rep and Emp guilds on KV? I just rerolled a new character, SM, on the Fatman server but I'd be willing to start another new character on KV depending on the activity levels.

EDIT: @antonz Looking pretty freaking cool there man.

Make them so they level with you, but when you get to 50 you'll have to trade them out for something better.

dunno on pub, but empire is still active and raids frequently every week

Republic GAF is very active and even growing. Lately our problem hasn't been finding enough players to raid but rather how to include everyone in the operations. Right now we have more than 16 players geared enough for hard modes.

That still dilutes the incentive for players to buy anything outside of lvl 50 if the gear scales. It just would dilute the economy further which they are trying to do the opposite currently. For it's level the legacy gear is really good and why would you ever change gear if it always stays the best till 50? Unless they made it something unique like only one item could be legacy item and that it would scale and always be awesome, but not a complete gear set. The pen and paper Star Wars rpg had a legacy item system which was basically a character handing down a single unique item to another one, which was special compared to a normal item. But not an entire closet of gear.

I think Legacy should have been unique visual gear that was orange if anything, but only obtainable through legacy as to keep it special.

They shouldn't be buying anything pre-50 anyways.

The best way to not be poor as a new 50 is to not blow all your money on useless, expensive upgrades in the AH.

Most stuff on the AH is cheap and often better than quest rewards. Players spend more money on training and crafting than buying new gear generally. My recent alt bought 4 pieces of new gear on the AH last night for less than the training of a single skill upgrade at lvl 40. Being geared is far more useful for speeding up and making the leveling process smooth.

What makes players poor is the ridiculous costs of leveling up your skills and especially speeder training. Level up and you suddenly got to pay 70k on upgrading a couple skills.... lame.

You shouldn't buy anything off the AH until you're max level. This isn't really an opinion.

Maybe if your main has shittons of credits, but even then it would be better spent on other things like investing it

Or spending it on Taun tauns!

Skills is easily the biggest money sink when levelling, along with speeder training, I do agree tho that if you can find cheap upgrades on the GTN it is worth it for the extra stats.

Investing on what? 50 gear which is going to just get replaced by token grind gear anyways? People complain about credits being useless because you don't need them once you gear up doing HM, and Raids. Best gear is still pretty much gotten by non credit means. Unless your a crafter, you have the creds to spend, and credits flow like water once you hit 50.

Why are you going to save up credits for 50 while leveling when you make more credits in an hour of dailies than you do in doing several days worth of leveling? Do all the 3 daily areas in a couple hours and you usually have more credits than you have saved up for weeks while leveling.
