Pipe dream is he moves on to help form a gaming channel that is actually respectable and not targeted to 14 year olds.

I don't think anybody would ever try again to start another gaming network, because they all heeded the lesson of G4.

Which is that, given a choice, if a gamer's in front of a TV it's probably to play games, not watch a network. Any programming would be competing with the very medium it's covering/promoting.

My bets on him going to Polygon. According to the hiring page, they are looking for video people, seems like the perfect fit.

On that note, who's left at G4? Brian Leahy?

G4 is already possibly the worst network on Cable, now they're tossing out maybe the only person they have with actual credibility?

A thousand times this. I liked TechTV a lot, even when it was ZDTV. It was a quirky little network with fun, yet informative shows about tech, not just video games. Once G4 ate it up and fired all of the staff, it had a few shows like The Electric Playground and Arena that were pretty interesting, and had to do with games. Now they show nothing but reruns of Cops, Campus PD, and Cheaters, and most of their programming has nothing to do with games at all. The one show that does, X-Play, turned to crap in no time with sloppy writing, un-funny jokes, and pretty horrid reviews.

I was, however, a fan of Adam Sessler, as whenever he had the chance to actually speak his mind (in interviews and whatnot), he actually sounded intelligent, and seemed to be the only closet Nintendo fan among the entire G4 media world. I wish him well, and hope that he goes to a place that takes gaming seriously, and doesn't reek of horrible.

With Adam gone, G4 has to do something to keep viewership up. My guess is more oatmeal wrestling.

Yup. Gaming and TV is just not a good mix anymore.

My money is on him joining Polygon and helping them create one of those new content channels Youtube is doing, similar to Geek & Sundry. Vox already has one for their other major property, SB Nation, so no doubt they'll want to do the same for Verge/Polygon.

What lesson? That gamers don't want to watch 23 hours of COPS and Cheaters a day? :p

I am with the consensus here that G4 loses even more credibility with him leaving. I also love the Giant Bomb idea. That would be amazing!

I think this means I won't be watching G4 at all anymore.

I used to watch ZDTV all the time, but I didn't like the merge with G4 at all. I also used to watch AOTS quite a bit, but kind of lost interest after Olivia Munn left that show, the dynamic just isn't the same without her. And now with no Sessler on Xplay I don't really have anything to watch on their anymore, too bad. I hope Adam gets a new gig soon so I can keep following him.

G4 hasn't truly been about gaming in a long, long time. I'm talking about when it launched with shows like G4TV.com, Icon, Arena, Pulse, etc. When pretty much every show was about gaming in some form.

I would think Adam Sessler would be great for periodic appearances on CBS Sunday Morning doing stories/reviews on video games. CBS/Giant Bomb would be ideal.

He'd be an awesome addition to Giantbomb, even if they couldn't afford him, they could let Alex go and use his monies.

I have no problem with Attack of the Show. It's fun. It's just that's the network has nothing outside of two shows. And yes losing Adam is going to hurt.

my autographed picture from a 2001 techtv mall signing weeps softly. i was hardcore extended/xplay viewer from 01-05. The purple couch! Kate! Morgan! oh man... good times, but that model has changed, even I stopped watching. onto the future.

I could see him going to IGN and becoming there Geoff Keighley.

He would become there serious industry talk person.

IGN could really use someone with a bit more credibility to even out the lowest common denominator Greg Miller and Daily fix videos.

Also if GB fired Patrick and hired Sess that would be pretty great. Let Patrick go destroy another website.

Please no. I like Sessler and I would hate for him to go to IGN.

Fuck that place.

This thread reminds me that I miss the old G4 tv. Sure it was rough around the edges but I really enjoyed shows like Cinematech, Icons, and even G4TV.com plus even throwaway shows like Blister, Cheat, and that countdown show with Diane Mizota.

Wasn't Cinematech originally a TechTV show?

Good, those wankers at G4 had no idea what a genius they had working for them.

May G4 crash and burn and may Sessler thrive where he isn't hindered by a bunch of asshats.
