The Zero Punctuation Thread

he's right you know id rather they do a game on their own , a new Ip with good ideas than "YET another silent hill"..

It's the same with Dmc for example or many Ip this gens.

Maybe silent Hill downpour would have been better received if it wasn't a Silent hill in the first place ??

I don't think that not being a Silent Hill game would solve the real issues the game has, those being the abysmal performance problems and terrible combat mechanics. There's a lot to like about the game, but the reception is to be expected for anyone that's played through it.

i think it would be better accepted it was a game on his own .. it would have been a nice attempt from a Dev team , not a poor adaptation of a franchise ..

It's not a poor take on the franchise, though. The game does its own thing for the most part, but it definitely feels like a Silent Hill game at its core.

With survival horror's decline in recent years, I don't think it would have faired any better as Murphy Pendelton's Halloween Spooktacular.

How does it affect the campaign? I didn't touch the multi-player once and I still got the Star Gazer ending.
If you pick the destruction option with more than so and so many EMS (I forget the exact number, look it up on wikia) you get a two second clip of Shep gasping for air among rubble. In other words it's meaningless, don't bother if you don't care about the MP.

i'm not disagreeing with that part ..it's how it felt to the "fans" after so many turds

Eh, his reviews are hard to read sometimes. That Duke review made it seem decent but he still pocked it for 2nd worst game.

Really?

Well, Duke Nukem has certainly put an end to all those jokes, if only because they're now more tragic than funny

The textures are low-quality, the levels are dull, and the frame-rate somehow still manages to chug like your mum at the bacon buffet.

So. This is how the anticipation ends, people. First show of the long-awaited comeback tour and the singer's hanged himself on the microphone cord. But he's tryin to sing anyway, forcing on a smile and choking out lyrics in between grosteque spasms, and you're wondering whether it's kinder to cut him down or swing on his legs to help him on his way.

I tend to think it's more he's anti-homogeneous design and gimmicky controls and less anti-Nintendo. And I can see how modern Nintendo can be very frustrating (Skyward Sword especially).

Odd opening.

Then again it may have just been me, never really thought the man had a problem with Nintendo so much as his own jokes about Nintendo got stale so the Nintendo based reviews tended to be more boring then the rest of his content.

IT was just the Wii controls/Overuse stick ran out of juice a few years ago.

All that said I enjoyed the review and while I actually like the banter between Pit and the goddess I couldn't bring myself to pass mission 6 because of the god awful controls.

He liked SMG... although closed the video by saying it would have been better with a regular controller.

He has actually liked a few Wii games. Had some postive things to say about No More Hereos, Silent Hill Shatterd Memories, and even Super Paper Mario.

So again, I just find the opening odd or the idea that someone would honestly say the man hates Nintendo simply because it's Nintendo games/consoles.

He likes almost all the Mario RPG games and I don't think he hated either Mario Galaxy. His vitriol is squarely aimed at the diminishing difficulty and copy/pasting going on between sequels. Most of this gets aimed at Zelda though, he hasn't really pooped on Mario.

FUCKING FUCK Escapist and your fucking player..... man It just does not work in 3 browsers I have tried to watch ZP but no luck .... :\
And with that Add on top its even more annoying.

Press to play, have the ad pop up as a frame, then wait a long time, after about 30 seconds it will start playing.

Took me ages to get it on.

Well, people usually refer to games actually developed specifically by Nintendo when making this assessment.

Didn't watch/notice the Super Paper Mario and SMG love, though, so it looks like I stand corrected. :X

The thing is, people who try to say their comment is comming from this type of stand point makes even less sense when talking about his feelings towards Wii products.

The amount of times he has railed on Wii and how third parties shouldn't have any games on is something you can at least raise an eyebrow over at least compared to the other side.

Oh another goodie. The part with your mum in Richard Branson's passenger seat was ace, as was the St. Bernard's part.

I can break down the Zero Punctuation review handbook quite easily:

Step 1: Find a game that, for a variety of reasons, your average person would enjoy.

Step 2: Ignore those reasons (or twist them around), and carefully nitpick a handful of flaws, which nearly every game has.

Step 3: Oversimplify these problems, and then expound, making an otherwise good game sound awful in the process.

The two exceptions are when you are genuinely in love with a game, in which case you can give a rare positive review by largely ignoring the typical nitpicked flaws, or the even rarer case where a game has so few issues that there isn't enough to build a case against it.

I grew tired of his shtick a while ago.

I'm still wondering why people take him seriously.

I mean, it's a character, the only games he really likes are the game he can't found absolutely nothing to complain about.

At least that's how I get it.

And hey, he thinks the Gamecube controller is the best designed controller ever.

not tag worthy
uprising ground controls aside (well until I messed around with them in the options) - they can take some getting used to. (if only they had an option for dual analog with CPP)

I really cannot fault uprising that much at all, the game has grown on me more and more after every play through..
