TERA |OT| F2P starting in February! Were you expecting a parade?

Weird :[ I can access the site fine but when I log in I'm getting "error:500 - Internal server error". I can't log in to the game either because I don't think my sub has been applied to the game yet or something.

Im getting the same. Is it to do with being friend code people? like is that access over now?

Anyone on Dragonfall that can invite me? Araeyn

Apply to the guild Believe and someone will accept you!

ALSO PRAISE THE GUILD EVERYDAY! ;)

And to the log in problem people, I'm on right now, so things seem kosher here...No idea what the issue is. :( Sorry.

Damn. Well im kind of in two minds on whether to drop £35 on the Eu retail then.. was going to play for today and see if I went one way or the other. Now im stuck!

Did you have two clients to choose to download from on your account page during beta (Tera & Tera 2)? I did and I think that might be the problem. Might have to get customer service to merge them.

2 places I didn't even go to while leveling: Azarel's Labyrinth and Pirate Grotto. The game spams XP at you like it's going out of style, and you can skip areas you'd rather not go to quite easily.

I won't lie - these overworld dungeons are awesome...But they're really tough without a group. I found a good group to kill Labyrinth BAMs, and that was killer fun, haha.

Also, I was knocking out some of the BAMs by Eldritch Academy last night. It's apparent that SM gear is not ready for taking hits from them, ha. Even while blocking, I would take anywhere from 2k-4k damage. That means he was hitting for at least 8k+. So goooood.

Hmm so EU version has content cut because its rated 12.. but then if I go NA I imagine all the guild related stuff will be on when im asleep? but its also £30 that way. :S

So I decided to get the game last evening,to take advantage of the Pre-order stuff and got the e-mail that confirms I did, with the goodies I am suppose to get by going into the Claim Item,Account item in the game but nothing showed up last evening and now I just checked again this morning before heading out and still no mount or anything...

I get a little pop-up window when I start the launcher that says it couldn't find one of the .exe(emeversioncheck. something)but I just click ok and the game starts fine...maybe that's why? I also chose to take the last OBT guy I had, which was Tera 4 and apply the Standard Edition to that account and it change from Tera 4 to Standard Tera...

Some guys in general chat said that it could take 48 hours till I get them,so I will wait till tomorrow before calling them up(or chat).

You guys got your Pre-order stuff right away?

I'm kind of unsure which server to join. I'm pretty much a beginner with MMOs, the last one I played was SWG before they changed it. I don't care about getting ganked if PvP is more fun. Should I go with Dragonfall or Valley of Titans?

I think most of us have had our pre-orders in for a while, so it's hard to say. I would say check on it in the next day or two. If nothing pops up, contact customer support. I played my OBT character to 32 and continued on head start and into release now, and I have my mounts and items (for reference).

It's literally impossible to say - if you like to PvP, go with VoT. If you don't enjoy it, roll on DF. One thing I will say is that, if you spend some time going back through the thread a bit, you'll see that people haven't complained too much about crazy ganking. And some have brought up the fact that the PvP is skill based so it changes the way you would typically associate with MMO PvP systems.

I've only died twice on VOT.. first time got ganked crossing the lumbertown bridge... just ressed and jumped into the water and continued questing. Second time there was a... 4v3 PK vs PK killers fight going on and I got to close and got one shotted by some AoE attack.

The only other time I've done any PvP on VoT was when two PKs at 16 jumped my 17 slayer... lets just say... <3 overhand strike.

Anybody on here playing on 'Frost Reach' US version? I have a 24 Priest (Safire) on there, just wanted to know if any gaffers were on the server also.

No instance Raid content.. nooooo Game will probably not last more than a year
There are instanced raids coming, and if you played the game you would know that even without them the content is more than plentiful. Personally I don't really know how they'll work instanced raids, single party stuff is crazy enough as it is.

Have they even added much since the Korean release? If not, I fear for the future of this game.

Regardless, friend bought it for me today so I guess I'm playing it. :D

Oh man, fighting BAM's is so much fun. (I am assuming the nagas are BAM's) Just the way the combat is so viceral and having to constantly move for posistioning. It's different then jumping out of the fire in WoW, but I dont know how to describe it. Almost soloed one (Lvl 24 Slayer) but died around 8 cuz of his stupid rear back.

Fighting in groups though is sex.

Just had a look at some videos and I am interested in giving it a shot, but I am concerned about lag and the need to time attacks/dodges/blocks.

Are there any aussies playing or those with similar lag that aussies would experience eg 500ms? is the game viable in laggy conditions?

Cheers

So hard to settle on a class, they're all interesting with very different play styles. I've narrowed it down to a priest or a sorcerer. Priest is great for duoing with the lady and for groups. I really like how active healing is in this game. But the sorcerer is just explosive fun. Magma bomb is probably one of the most satisfying spells I've used in a while.

I know nothing about priests, but you have to remember the Sorc only gets better and better. They become the real deal when they get 48, it's when they get 70% increase in cast time, which in combination with some slower casting spells gets pretty crazy(like Fire bombs).

Did you play around with a glyphed(chance to reset) Teleport jaunt yet?

edit:Hmm I think I'm sorc fanboying way too much lately. :|

If you want to have nuking power, go Sorcerer.

I made it about 50-75% of the way to 42 but I'm not sure if I'm going to continue leveling at this pace. It's time for me to get back to my regular schedule, but I would hate to fall too far behind the rest of the people that I group with. BAMs dropping golds was a nice surprise and I hope that trend continues.

Gold Weapon skins for all purchases before May 31.

YEEESSS! I still want that pirate eye patch and the glasses though. I guess I'll have to earn those through the daily reputation quests.

It's funny to think that EME completely failed to anticipate the demand for the PvP servers. I guess more people ended up going PvP than anyone could have guessed. Anyone who followed the Tera beta thread knows I was completely against being on a PvP server going into the CBTs but now here I am on VoT and loving it there.

I think the analysis they did was based on skewed data because there was not a PVP server during CBT1. Everyone rolled PVE at the time and some people got bored when capped and rolled additional PVE characters prior to CBT2. A lot of polls that went up on community sites and the official forums showed close to an even split on people planning to roll PVP versus PVE. I think 4 PVP and 5 PVE (including RP server) would have been a much better start than 3 PVP and 7 PVE.

Wait wait. GvG is available on PVE servers? Is that instanced or dynamic?

It's not available yet but they are currently working on getting this implemented. They did not originally have any plans or anticipate demand for this feature on a PVE server. I pushed hard for this during Closed Beta and there was a lot of community support for the feature. I posted a thread that outlined how this could work in a PVE environment and one of the producers responded directly that they liked the idea and were planning on an implementation very similar to my post. It was brought up again in a recent post by one of the producers and they made it sound like it was close to being completed.

Unrelated, Alchemy seems like it will be awesome, but holy balls is it expensive.

Alchemy is pretty fun (and easy). Leveled it to around 70 or so but stopped because managing my inventory was becoming a nightmare with all the different component and material requirements. I made some nice potions and found that there are some interesting scrolls you can make as well. I'm going to invest some more time (and gold) into this later...

2 places I didn't even go to while leveling: Azarel's Labyrinth and Pirate Grotto. The game spams XP at you like it's going out of style, and you can skip areas you'd rather not go to quite easily.

I love this. You can skip the mundane stuff and do the story quests and farm/grind BAM repeatables or instance dungeons, which are a lot more fun than zone quest grinding. I wouldn't recommend it on a first play through since you really want to fully experience the environments and open world, but it's nice that TERA gives you so much freedom in how you can level your character(s).

I'm kind of unsure which server to join. I'm pretty much a beginner with MMOs, the last one I played was SWG before they changed it. I don't care about getting ganked if PvP is more fun. Should I go with Dragonfall or Valley of Titans?

I'm traditionally a PVE player but really enjoy the PVP in TERA. As long as you don't mind the ganking and the somewhat competitive environment, there is an endless amount of fun to be had on a PVP server. The PVP system is a meta-game in and of itself. I also like how the PVP system in TERA really encourages grouping and team work.

If you're having a problem with a gank squard or certain individual(s), there are multiple channels per zone, speed scrolls, and instant cast mounts that make it very easy to circumvent. In addition, the only real penalty for dying to an outlaw is your pride. You die, resurrect back to town, hit up a teleport NPC, and you can pick up right where you left off or go seek some vengeance. The PVP system still has its problems (level and gear scaling, safezones, etc.) but the foundation is good and EME is commited to building on that based on community feedback.

CBT2 was filled with trolls and gankers but they are nearly non-existant now. I can't speak for other PVP servers but the community on Valley of Titans has far exceeded my expectations. I expected a cess pool but was greeted with one of the finest communities I have ever experienced in an MMO. Finding a good guild will definitely make or break your experience, though. After playing on a PVP server in TERA, I can't ever go back to PVE. I would feel like I'm missing out on half the game.

You could always transfer to Dragonfall with the rest of GAF PVE!

There's no content cut at all. Blood was removed from the last beta and will be patched back in soon. Elin's were censored a little bit more meaning you can't see their exposed stomach or thighs. Other than that it's the same game. The first patch is this Thursday.

Didn't get much done tonight since it was late.

but did a few quest and finish one story quest.

someone cool made me this.

won't have time to wear until lvl 40 D:

and last picture.

How do you get those graphic, everything look so blend in my game. May be it is my system or something, I even tried the SMAA injector.

I think I probably will. Transfers are free correct? Are there long queues on Dragonfall?

There are currently no queues on Dragonfall and you can transfer for free. Server transfers are allowed once every 24 hours and players may only transfer from PVE to PVE or PVP to PVP. The fee and time allowance might change once populations stabilize but that's how it works for now.

This can be completed by going to your account management page. I posted a link to detailed instructions earlier in the thread.

Make sure to change the "Lighting Enhancement" setting to "1", found in the Video tab of your Options, if you are forcing AA outside of the client. A setting of "2" will enable software based AA that makes everything appear blurry.

Just done SB with a warrior tank. Oh god. The amount of times I missed enemies as a Slayer cos the warrior was having to dance about D: It was like I was playing drunk.

Still, bosses were rather... large for such low level content :p

Tera is awesome.

Warrior tanks can do quite well, but this is the part that sucks. As a Lancer, I have to move the boss around a little here and there, but I try and keep the movement predictable (mainly because tanking in a corner is STUPID hard with the camera...learning some tricks to it, though).

You get all those nice equipment bonuses for attacking from the enemy's flank but you will find yourself constantly running around to get there with a Warrior tank. Sometimes it can be annoying and sometimes it can make things more fun.

So, uh, is this article correct in stating that only the US version of Tera has had the leveling curve flattened?

http://www.gameranx.com/features/id...ged-tera-online-for-north-america-and-beyond/

On the one hand I am totally looking forward to D3, on the other hand playing this for a month, and until the D3-online only bugs have been ironed out, seems oddly appealing.

Not sure...But if this IS the case, I'm OK with it. I'd rather grind for various achievements rather than grind for my level. I enjoy progressing at a somewhat reasonable rate. Aion was very grindy and not enjoyable to me because of it (amongst other things).

To me, leveling doesn't feel any faster than it did in Korea..

This game was never a grind fest, even in korea.

I took a priest to lv 45 in the KR version.. I think at 45 I had about 10 million exp to get to 46.. but I had story quests worth 1 and 1.5 million each.. and area quests worth 400-600k.. leveling was never a grind.. at least nothing like Aion or god forbid, L2.

Third Day Impressions.

First about combat bunnies and anime school girl battle maidens. If you got this game and hate those things bad on you. If you haven't gotten the game and hate those things then think twice. Crazy costumes, girls with bunny ears and fluffy tails is part of the world. Sure you can make a bad ass Amani-demon-kill-god but when you group you will be hanging out with Pappy the Slayer kitty and Cutey the Elin Sorcerer. Love it, tolerate it or leave it I figure.

popori03.jpg

The combat is the real hook right now. Dodging and weaving in and out of combat, having my actions be more fluid and responsive to the enemy. I love not talking about the best chain of abilities, they're pretty straight forward and you get your own rhythm going. You don't see a mob that may con orange or red to you and just walk away, you know you have a shot at taking it down if you play your cards right...and take your time.

Besides the combat they didn't take any great leaps in innovation. Crafting, questing, kills and classes are pretty rote at this point. You know how to craft pretty much right away if you've played any of the blockbuster MMO titles. They do do a good job at removing some annoying things like having to find crafting stations, mailboxes ext.

I love that I can play with a controller. Little odd at first but not that hard to get used to. Having the cursor jump to the buttons for quests would be nice.

I've tried every class thus far to at least level 11, basically at the point you leave nooby island. Sure the classes evolve but i wanted to get a basic feel for them.

Sorcerer: One of my favorites so far. squishy yes but the damage output is great and you can dodge and run around.
Warrior: As they this seems to be the hardest class to get used to. i love the feel but getting in sync is tough
Lancer: The toughest by far. The only class where I've died. Several time in fact. I have a feeling they get better and are group focused but solo you have to be methodical. The block is a little bit misleading. Sometime you take zero damage and other time you'll still take damage.
Slayer: Roll around and stabby. Fun quick class to play but not tank and spank.
Mystic: Fun diverse class but I think the pets are retarded. Seems like wasted time, effort and coding. This the one class that's very different from the others.

Overall I enjoy my time but I can see this game getting replaced in the near future. They just didn't push the envelope enough for me. I'll dabble here and there and hell maybe at later levels I'll fall in love.

Generally my experience is a controller is pretty good for the melee classes but not so much for anything that requires precision aiming (ie archers). The main problem is that you still need access to the face buttons for your abilities WHILE you're aiming with the right stick which is a pain. It's not impossible but it's not ideal either. The melee classes don't need that precision though so controller works great for them.

EDIT: Forgot to mention your controller binding reflects your hotbars so changing anything there will change your controller buttons as well. I think you can drag actions directly to the controller UI (which shows up on the screen like the hotbar and can be turned off) but honestly I've never tried.
