Skyrim DLC "Dawnguard" coming this summer

Hopefully a good amount of content considering how long the game will have been out when this releases, but the 30 day delay for all platforms but one sucks.

There's a bit of a difference between a week timed exclusive like the BF3 CQC dlc, and a MONTH.

But, again, a month-long timed exclusive is not all that unusual, especially for Bethesda.

It comes out when it comes out. Yeah, PC players have to wait longer, but we also get the better version, so...

Timed exclusive DLC is such a despicable practice. Hey customers, thanks for buying our game, but you done fucked up and didn't buy it on the right platform!

I think Microsoft should go the extra step and lock out anyone who isn't an Xbox Live Gold member.

Seriously? That is all we are getting now? These announcements of announcements of information are getting really tiresome. Just give me info or wait to say anything until you are willing to give me info.

I hope by the time this comes out, there will be a nice definitive list of mods. I'm definitely looking forward to getting back into Skyrim at some point.

Guys, look on the bright side...

After one month, the X360 beta testers should be able to provide us with information on how broken the DLC is.

Iam not realy excited for this because of 2 things:
1. announcement of an announcement of an announcement.
2. 30 days exclusive

So that's one thing we'll see at the press conference!

Touche, I was thinking the same thing xD I'll actually watch the MS conference just to see the footage. I really hope it's a substantial chunk like they've been promising and not some lame bite sized, linear storyline. I also hope it adds a considerable amount of extras/minor content, but I guess I'm hoping for too much. Still haven't beaten it, I was planning to before the DLC - maybe I will so I can start a new char just for the DLC, but this depends on when it takes place (post main story or more of a side story type thing).

Microsoft pissing off every other platform customer out there while thinking its giving the 360 a positive image. Idiots.

They're actually thinking they're driving people to pick up Xbox 360 versions of certain titles, and going by sales, it seems to be working. Both Sony and Microsoft have been pushing exclusive content for years now, but at least in Microsoft's case it's mostly just temporary exclusivity.

For the record, I also dislike the concept of exclusive content, especially when it's retailer-specific, but it's been with us forever and it's here to stay.

Haha, I was just thinking about posting something about 360 users beta testing for the rest of us.

They'll tell us it's so broken and full of bugs. Then it'll sell a bazillion copies and be declared DLC of the forever.

For every hour of Skyrim I played I soured on it more and more, so unless this DLC is randomly being farmed out to a dev that knows what writing is, probably going to pass. After New Vegas I can't take listening to or reading Bethesda dialogue anymore, nevermind the other problems with their games.
LOL

Its not about giving the 360 a positive image, but a way of saying, "Hey, buy the 360 and you're gonna get extra benefits".
I'm completely positive that Microsoft has no understanding of that term.

This could be said about any timed exclusive content from any company.
Yep. Its idiotic every single time.

I blame bethesda more than MS. I hope whatever kickback they got for the time delay is worth agitating the fanbase over.
And I'm more than happy to heap the blame on any and all responsible parties.

In the long run they probably contribute somewhat to console sales, so not that much I bet.

Skyrim has been out for over six months, I imagine that the people who are going to buy Downloadable Content for it have already made their purchase. It seems like kind of an odd choice.

Wait, what? Exclusive to 360 a month before PC? What the fuck is this?

Does it really matter for a mere 30 days? PC owners have gotten a ton of mod content since day 1 as well as the potential for graphics that blow away the 360 version.

Will this let me jump and grab onto the monsters(e.g. dragons) and stab them as they fly away with me still holding on?

I can understand if PC players are mad....

...but I thought the PS3 version of skyrim was completely broken and unplayable? What difference does it make if PS3 owners have to wait 30 days to not be able to play the DLC?

I bought the game shouldn't I get the same dlc the same day?

If you educated yourself in the case that Bethsoft didn't do a good enough job making that clear, it was announced well before the game came out that X360 would get the first two DLC expansions exclusively for thirty days. Most things don't explain themselves until you find out too late or educate yourself. It's just how it's always worked, even DLC this entire generation of consoles. Seven years, man, so this isn't a new thing. If you've got a problem, you should scream at Bethsoft for doing the deal. DLC ain't an equal rights type thing, man, it's a product sold on store shelves, even the electronic kind that don't actually have shelves.

That's precisely why this deal has been announced before the game even came out.

So I am gonna call it... this is not DLC this is a massive expansion that will be not only downloadable but also disc based. Price will clock in at 30 bucks. (20 on the low side)

What was shivering isles when it launched?

I dont even know what that comment means. :/
I mean their track record of benefits. First they delayed some game demos from Xbox Live Silver Members and touted immediate access to game demos as a "benefit" of Xbox Live Gold. Now they agree to delay game content to all other platforms and present that as a "benefit"?

Yeah. I don't think that word means what they think it means.

If it has to be done by the first parties I would rather it be timed and not exclusive.
[ ] A. Platform Exclusive
[ ] B. Timed Exclusive
[x] C. None of the above.

360 gets DLC early...
Its not early on the 360. Its delayed everywhere else.
