Wii U Speculation thread IV: Photoshop rumors and image memes

They most likely won't allow it. I believe it's due to the fact that people will just install and return the game after they install a copy on their HDD or SD card. Then again, they can just do what MS is doing and make it so that you must have the disc in the tray, but that defeats the purpose of installing a game if you're too lazy to change discs.

It also helps saving the disc drive from wear and tear, lowers heat and noise levels.

I install all my games on the 360 because the disc drive is louder than our vacuum cleaner. Luckily the cooling fans are at a tolerable level.

So Nintendo should give us the option to install games to decrease loadtimes and noise levels.

Well, we know for sure Google and Nintendo worked together for the last April's Fool... so doing something together for the next console wouldn't totally be out of the question.

Holy shit I've been sitting refreshing for the past hour. I had to actually do homework while waiting ugh ew.

I remember Sanctuary Fortress being the best location in the trilogy.

Hah it's all coming back to me now.

I sure hope they do, even if it means we have to leave the disc in the tray.

Elder Scrolls Online is the GI cover story. Isn't the Wii-U suppose to be MMO-heavy? Though I doubt it is coming to any console....

Because I'll be a doctor and I'm realistic about how much free time I'll have :p

I'll still be gaming, I just don't think I'll have time to be as much of an active enthusiast. At the rate I'm going now just being in med school, I finish a game once every 2-3 months or so. It's only going to get worse, especially at the beginning of my career. Did you know just about every time I'm on GAF, I'm only able to browse and post in between lecture slides. I'm studying immunology right now! XD

Handhelds are your best friends now.

Are you also an MS1? We are currently in our immunology/micro block as well. LOL

Not that this is surprising or anything, but the GI cover reveal just about rules out any official Wii U software reveals prior to the E3 press conference on June 5. Oh well, I've waited this long, I can wait another four and a half weeks...

Another E3 prediction:

3DSi Lite XL

I mean, a redesign could happen I guess, but I really just wanted to show off my design.

On a more related note, does anyone think we'll get some solid cross platform functions outside of Smash Bros?

Sorry, but that would be uncomfortable. The circle pad on the bottom would make the cramps even worse.

(Kudos to a friend of mine: Topy the sage)

I think it will work as the 3DS one (with both usb and normal charger possibilities)

You still have EDGE to hold out hope on!...

Though that's pretty much been confirmed to be the interview?

did we have some 6x news again?

That was speculation.

It's surprisingly odd how awkward having the slide pad on the top-left and the bottom-right looks to my eyes, now that I see an implementation of it (also, having the analogs aligned vertically would mean that left-handers could potentially have the option of flipped controls). Either way, it looks a little cramped. Probably, it could stand to have a bigger chassis. Then my hands would not hurt when I play. And it'd have bigger screens. And it'd have a longer battery life.

I would probably buy this, though. I am highly likely to buy my first dual-screened Nintendo system if it had the extra analog directional built in. And then I could buy tons of the best NDS games for cheap to start me off! :D

Well, I was speculating earlier on how they could do something with the 2D Mario games which have been shown off or discussed for both platforms. It was sort of my idea for a workaround for having two similar games on the market at once. (edit: I was beaten on this, this time)

I don't see GAF surviving E3. We need a backup plan.

The backup plan

Backup plan to the backup plan is to mass register on vandal.net and take over their Wii U subforum.

What was the last one then? i failed to catch it seems...

The only actual news was from badly-translated speculation ten months ago. Also a logical leap from a slide showing that 1.1 GFLOPS would be enough to handle Samaritan at full effects at 720p/30fps.

What would you suggest? The pad on top? People will just bitch about that too. You can't make a completely comfortable handheld like this without either making it huge and or really ugly.

Don't worry, if it did look like this I'm sure someone will make a grip for it or something.

I agree, but I didn't want to be boo'd at for not having flipped sticks. Oh well, that dream is gone.

We dont know for sure if this connectivity is anything solid either. Iwata said "the software will work together in some fashion". That could mean anything from transfering characters between the two games to full cross platforming gaming.

In Zelda, you could have the Wii U pad on a table displaying the dungeon map etc, whilst you control link with the Wii remote+ and nunchuck.

Or

You see Link running around on the TV and while the Wii U pad is on the table, it gives you the view point of 'Navi'. The extra view point could give you clues for solving puzzles.

If Aonuma is to be believed, and console Zelda wont be going back from WiiMotion+, then I could see this being very accurate. The Wii U tablet will act as map, compass and Link's satchel.

Fuck the Wiimote and Nunchuk. If there's one thing I hated about this gen (soon to be last gen) it's all these different peripherals. There's no way I'm buying any wii motes for the WiiU. If i can't play it with what's in the box then i simply won't buy it.

I thought the oposite was true. Haven't they said several times that they want to stick with motion controls for Zelda?

I remember Sanctuary Fortress being the best location in the trilogy.

I finally got around to playing through Echoes in February and Sanctuary fortress was amazing. The high tech setting (nice change of pace since the series usually emphasizes organic settings), the scary mechs (Ing Smashers = yikes!) are awesome. Torvus Bog is a fantastic area as well.

Fair enough. I just think the bottom one would make it awkward...but I have no idea since it doesn't actually exist.

Remember what Nintendo said when they thought about introducing the second screen:

Miyamoto and his team wanted to include a small screen to provide game feedback and status messages to players (in similar vein to the VMU for Sega's Dreamcast).

How wonder how many developers will make use of the wiimotion plus as a primary controller for FPS's and the tablet controller as a primary info screen to keep the main tv screen hud free?

Yesterday increased my hype exponentially for E3.

I guess if the normal cycle continues I should expect some news to dampen that hype shortly :(

That's what BD1 is saying. I read it wrong the first time too.
