INFO

KVO THE ULTIMATE BATTLE 2012
KVO THE ULTIMATE BATTLE 2012 is a two-day event to be held May 4-5 at the Athena Nipponbashi game center in Osaka, Japan that will feature Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 (3on3), Persona 4 The Ultimate in Mayonaka Arena (singles) and Gouketsuji Ichizoku: Matsuri Senzo Kuyou (singles) tournaments. The winners of the UMvC3 3on3, in collaboration with Tougeki, will each earn blue tickets to compete in the UMvC3 singles tournament at Tougeki 2012.

KVOxGODSGARDEN
KVOxGODSGARDEN is a sub-event of KVO 2012 and is, as the name suggests, a collaborative event with GODSGARDEN. To be held at the Maid Café CCOcha, the event is a 8-player semi-invitational with 1 player selected by invite, 4 players by a fan vote, and 3 players by a single-elimination qualifier right before the main tournament. The winner of KVOxGODS earns a GODSGARDEN-sponsored trip to EVO 2012 as well as EVO seeding points.

WORLD BROADCASTING HEROES
World Broadcasting Heroes: Adventures in Ikebukuro - Day One

World Broadcasting Heroes - Episode 1

During their time in Japan, Haunts, fubarduck and Bluerei will be filming World Broadcast Heroes:

In a joint-effort between IPLAYWINNER, Aesonica and ArcadeUFO, we are throwing a show together called “World Broadcasting Heroes” Your look into the Fighting Game Community from the motherland of fighting games - Japan. Hosted by Haunts, Fubarduck and Bluerei, we give all of you a look inside the Japanese fighting game culture and also act as a loose travel guide for those of you looking to visit Tokyo or Osaka.

...

We'll be recording and uploading the World Broadcasting Heroes video series on a (mostly) daily basis as we travel around Japan. We will be stopping at various arcades, restaurants and bars in Tokyo and Osaka, and of course broadcasting “KVO The Ultimate Battle” in Osaka. Expect in-depth interviews with various players and prominent members of the community, not to mention our thoughts on various aspects of this trip!

Follow @iplaywinner @mardenblake and @fubarduck for all the up-to-date information during our travels!

He's not going to be in the KVOxGodsgarden event because he doesn't want to go to EVO but he will be playing as part of an exhibition match.

There have been reports that Chou (the famous Strider player) has been going in on Marvel lately. He's super serious about the game and he is easily top 3 there.

So, Thrusday PST:
9:00PM~3:00AM Pacific Time: UMVC3 KVO Main Event (3v3)

Then wake up on Friday:
9:00AM~10:00AM Pacific Time: UMVC3 8-man KVO x Godsgarden Main Event

Sounds good. Really looking forward to seeing some new tech and awesome execution. Last Japanese UMVC3 was really fun to watch. Dem Striders.

7:00PM~9:00PM Pacific Time: Gouketsuji 1on1

I was so excited that this game was getting shown some love on a major stage because it's well deserved. That balance update that it received for NESiCA X Live was just what the game needed because before that the game was a broken mess with one character to rule to them all. Rin got a slight nerf in the update and is still top tier but she isn't as Goddesslike as she once was and that was all the game really needed to be competitive. I really hope Atlus is paying attention to this tournament and realize that this game needs to be released on something. The game has been out for 3 years with no port in sight and I hope they get the reception needed to just OK the port so more people can play the game without doing things they shouldn't have to. So I'll be watching this part of the tournament very closely to see how far this game has come.

Wow why the hell would he just show up to final round of all things and run away. I hate shit like this. They probably heckled the hell out of him while he was here. Still its not like he wasnt taunting his ass off during the matches as well.

He doesn't understand English, so he thought everyone was giving him death threats perhaps.

Agreed, I'd love to see PI5 get some more love, but it kinda came and went since it was released.

I think it's more personal/study related issues that he isn't going to be at EVO. Even though he won Final Round, he barely made any money due to travel expenses and what not.

Also he isn't the best that Japan has to offer in Marvel.

There were no travel expenses. All expenses paid trip for him because he won the final ranbats in japan according to the organizers of final round.

PI5 just came out too close to SF4 and that killed all it's momentum if it even had any to begin with. The game is faring a whole lot better now in arcades and that's a great thing. Now all Atlus has to is realize that there are other games than Persona and put the whole series together and be done with it.

Capcom had this same option when Sengoku Basara X was randomly at SBO a couple of years ago and they just let that pass and the game was mad hype that year too. It got a balance update for NESiCA X Live a while back too. Game is still all about infinites but it is a whole lot more playable than it used to be.

Then I must have heard wrong because I definitely heard something about financial issues related to competing in the US.

Hey guys, Episode 2 might be up a little late. We're at the tournament right now and I am editing while we are here at Athena Arcade. We kinda saw this coming, but I just thought I would give you a quick update. Thanks!

Japanese commentator hype is the BEST hype.

Haha yea they are funny as fuck. I only understand like half since my Japanese is terrible, but at least they aren't as bad as ETR. I don't know who dick he is sucking to get put on so much. Even Marn called him out as bull shit on Dr. Sub Zero show, and dude still getting on the mic.
