So they are starting with F2P right away right? Cause we all know that it's gonna end up f2p a year down the road anyway....

This game has no chance as a P2P MMO unless Zenimax is okay with 500k subs, tops.

You can't out-WoW WoW. This game will be niche status. Less subs than SWTOR.

PC DIKU MMO's are dead and WoW killed them. And it's a PC only game. You dumb bastards.

Yeah, a subscription fee (on top of what I assume will be $60) will likely be enough to kill any morbid curiosity I could have in trying this. Oh well, maybe when it's F2P...

Definitely will not bite at $60. I got burned on SWTOR.

And reflecting further on the 120 hours (5 days) to level cap - that's pretty weaksauce, especially for the launch of an MMO. It should be closer to double that, at least. It probably takes around 7-11 days, not rushing, for an experienced player to go 1-85 in WoW, even with full heirlooms. If it's only 5 days for new players - people will burn out fast.

just seen the shots...ouch this is woeful..WTF were they thinking(besides money) attaching the Elder Scrolls franchise to this engine...piss poor and it will only damage sales of future main line games imo.

What would have been truly cool is if it was player based to the max. I'm talking about having a house, being a merchant or a blacksmith or whatever. It probably doesn't work in this day and age of instant gratification but it'd be cool to be a carpenter who is required for building houses or ships on the side of doing whatever carrot-on-the-stick approach they took.

It gets a little tiresome when everyone is out there trying to be a hero.

I must do better.
Sounds like an incredibly generic mmo. No way they expect this to compete with wow/tor and have a monthly fee.

They went out of their way to make a generic MMO judging by the OP's description. After expecting a multiplayer version of an Oblivion/Skyrim-like game, this game seems kinda useless, especially considering how many generic MMO's there are out there.

Just for the record, RIFT does not use the HeroEngine. It runs on a modified Gamebryo engine that is much more suited to handling large amounts of players.

I don't know what to say, this sounds really bad, everything I was hoping for (player housing, a solid game engine, real-time combat) is not in the game.

I am very disappointed, and I don't think I'm the only one

Sounds like Elder Scrolls with everything interesting about Elder Scrolls taken out of it. At least it should have a better story, right?

2007 was when WOW was extremely popular wasnt it?
Games like tabula rasa were being released

Maybe this game wouldnt have begun development if it was pitched in 2010

Geeze, not first person, no player housing, no romance, wow style skills... whats the point of this then?

Cashin' in on that popular brand. Nothing new in the gaming industry, but it's a shame since online Elder Scrolls could potentially be something exciting.

Pretty much.

within the World of Warcraft-style mechanics

yeah, no

If they could have made this a multiplayer version of their single player games, I would be interested. Instead its literally like every other MMORPG out now. No player housing, classes, 3rd person, not real time, etc. I'm out of here.

That was the only freakin reason I was wanting it. If just going to be another WoW clone, then just count me out.

Sorry, I don't know anything about MMOs, what does it mean by no real-time combat? Is it turn based or something?

Game sounds like its going to be a step behind modern MMOs. Going to be funny to see what Blizzard does with Titan and how it looks against this. The lore isn't enough to pull me in, I was hoping for interesting game mechanics instead of some variation on vanilla.

I really love the fact it's all of the world. I'd be happy with Skyrim's graphics and detail, and just a 10x larger game world to explore. Yes, I basically won't mind to play it alone, like I already do in other games of the series. If the gameplay is good, and the general feel of the series is there, count me in to explore a 10x bigger world. I've only played Skyrim.

There's still a long way to go though. I hope we get videos soon.

Doesn't really sound like my kinda thing.

I just pray that Bethesda (the actual Bethesda Game Studios) gets to make another single-player Elder Scrolls someday =[

It means you click the target then click the hot bar and the attack, spell, or other effect either hits or misses the target based on a 'die roll.' That attack then goes on cool down until it can be used again.

You're kidding, right? Skyrim sold reeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaally well, especially for an RPG/Single-player game.

Their time would have been better spent experimenting with co-op side modes and/or asynchronous friends integration in the main series I think. But at its core Elder Scrolls is an immersive and interactive clockwork virtual world, not a class based WOW-clone with PVP.

Good luck with that.

You're right but...I don't know. Still a little worrisome. I remember being totally sure of Warcraft IV despite World of Warcraft...

Though I don't know if this would be able to take off like WoW did, so maybe I'm just paranoid.

Wow, I can just echo what has already been said countless times: Not at all what I want from an Elder Scrolls MMO. Third-person perspective? Rift/SWTOR-like visuals? No real-time combat? So they've basically stripped the game of everything that makes Skyrim so damn immersive.

Nah, I'll just wait for the next proper Elder Scrolls game. Until then, I'll be playing Skyrim, which I'm so not even close to being done with yet.

Doesn't sound great honestly. I still want to see it, but it reads like they couldn't or wouldn't implement much of what makes ES special gameplay-wise.

I will play if it's F2P or just a one time purchase like GW. Otherwise NOOOPE.

I like SWTOR, but not enough to pay monthly for it especially after buying the Digital Collector's Edition.

I said it once before, but I'll check it out if it doesn't have a monthly fee, or better yet Free2Play. Buy2Play maybe, but monthly fee? Hell to the no.

I don't know who asked for this. When I imagined Elder Scrolls online, I imagined the same type of game x10 in scope and with lots of other people. This sounds like just another MMO.
